  1. Ally is entitled to his view just like every rangers fan. Can I suggest he has a lot more knowledge of what went on than any of us on this forum. It was a nightmare for the fans. It could not have been easy for the players. Most of them have a talent for football. Let’s just say agents etc do the academic side of things for them. Why can we not move on from the past and accept bad decisions were made by a lot of people at a very difficult time.
  2. Ally has from a very young age!
  3. I agree with Pete that Naismith was never superman. He was a very good player for Rangers in the confines of the Scottish game. At 31 he should still have a good few years left in him. He’s only months older than Messi who is certainly not past it! We have a very young team that would benefit from his experience. I therefore have no problem with him coming back and in fact hope he does. I can understand the sentiment of those who feel he betrayed the club. I however don’t share that sentiment. He along with the rest of the players at that time were put in an insidious position. They had to think of their career and above all their families. I have no doubt that Naismith regrets how it ended but as the mouthpiece of the players he took the brunt of the fan backlash. Let’s not forget that the club let him go as a kid yet he came back in a heartbeat. i truly believe that he wants to make peace with the fans and that he is happy to make the gesture suggested. It means we get his services for nothing till the end of the season at least. surely it’s a no brainer! Winning goal st Ibrox against the unwashed and all will be forgiven! If that feat can work for Mo I’m sure it will work for Naismith!
  4. Ashley only wants exposure to Europe market. Rangers is his best option. He sold his shares but with agreement he is first back in with subsequent sale. No different to a player sell on clause.! Hong Kong connection is longer term with blue noses at heart. Want long term plan Take your pick guys. Either way you get investment. As I have stated already. My pref is long term, youth inspired, plan
  5. Listen guys. Whilst you might buy into the fact that the Rangers board are half wits I would ask you just to consider that might not be the case. An investment of £100 million would have purchased a player for PSG! That's level of investment is not fanciful. It is realistic for a club of the stature of Glasgow Rangers. That is the reality of the modern game. As I have said. It's how you spend that money that's important. My understanding is that it will be on youth. I hope so, as I think that is the future of our club. As to what I'm drinking. It's a pint of realism that says we are not massive in terms of the Champions League. But we are massive in terms of where we want to be! I.e. We are Glasgow Rangers. Always will be!
  6. Not so long ago Murray was god! Don't defile Ashley so easily. He has money. He has a corporate goal that requires a Glasgow Rangers. I have no problem with him taking control. He is not stupid. He understands that a strong rangers in Europe is to his benefit. As I have already said. Most important thing is our club. Everything else is just a side show. In other words serious investment in our club will be welcomed no matter the source. Personally I think and hope it will be invested in youth. Our string future!
  7. It's not a war chest. It's an investment in the good future of our club. That investment will be conditional on the good grace of our worldwide fan base. Which is second to nobody. It will take us back to where we belong. At the top of Scottish football. But it will require an understanding that we are not PSG. We will be the new PORTO. A club that develops players that can compete with the best but a team that will likely often fall short of European glory. That is the reality of the modern game. I don't know about other posters but I currently will be happy to be doing the Celtic on a regular basis!
  8. Be patient. The news will hit soon enough. All that fellow Gers need to know is that the board are not idiots. There is a plan and investment is on its way. The idiots are the media to think that the board are flaffing around in the wind.
  9. Because we are guaranteed a European place. Well almost! Newcastle are not!
  10. No I can't identify them. That would be wrong. What I can say is that you know 1 of them from an earlier thread. They are rangers fans. But so is Ashley if it allows him to boost his personal empire. Word has it that Newcastle will be sold shortly. Then it's open season. My preference is the Hong King Consortium because they are lifelong rangers fans.
  11. The Hong Kong consortium are ex pats with a Rangers lifelong connection. They are not hangers on. But they are business men. Enough said. My knowledge of the situation comes from people I know. Suffice to say it's at a knowledgeable level. Hence why I know Ashley is not out the picture. What I would ask is that all fellow Gers continue to get behind the team knowing that the board are not flaffing around in the wind. They have been stewards of our great club and will deliver. Just take a look at the table. 2 results can turn this season around. Thugs are not that bad. But serious investment is coming. Maybe McInness wasn't part of that plan!
  12. Yes that is the figure being quoted within the hierarchy of the club. If you think about recent appointments it makes sense. Rangers first objective is to get back to being the top club in Scotland. Whether that is this year or next is irrelevant. Personally I think this season has all the same ingredients as our 10 in a row season in reverse. But looking forward I think if the promised money is invested in youth then the Gilmours will not go to Chelsea. They will be the next McCrorie. The Rangers teams our fathers rave about all came from Scotland in the main. Mccoist, Baxter and Durrant either came through the well worn system or were born to be gers. We have the talent in Scotland to be the equivalent of Porto. Let's give the boys the chance to come through a well worked youth system that mirrors the first team,. That's why I like Murty. He gets it and understands where the future can take us. Regarding infrastructure. Yes it needs fixed. Instead of funding share purchase programs let's get fans to invest in our club. Let's leave running the club to the board. They can answer their actions at the AGM.
  13. Graham Murty is a big boy. He will be getting paid what he's worth. When he's not I'm sure it will be rectified. That's how a business works. He's playing the game and ultimately will get what he is due. He knows that. So do the board. I have a sneaking suspicion that he will be able to stand his round quite comfortably before the month is out!
  14. The proposed investment from Hong Kong is real. It's been held up because King is asking too much for his shares. It also has added complication that Ashley has first dibs if he wants to invest. I personally don't care who gets the gig so long as they invest the promised 100 million in the club. Personally I would want that money invested in the youth. That is where I think our club should go.
  15. Just a thought. Are we really to believe that the boardroom does not have a brain cell.? I don't think so. They knew what the reaction to their statement would be. The press are muppets with only one thing in mind. Their next headline. Or an 'exclusive '. They did not get their exclusive! But they got their headline. I would ask all rangers fans to think outside the box. Rangers are the biggest club in Scotland. To think they are stumbling around in the dark is just fantasy! They, the board, know what they are doing. Can I suggest it's what is best for rangers. Our team. Not the team of the media. Glasgow Rangers is in my blood. It's part of my DNA. It's something that no bad result or negative media comment will detract from. What I do know is that the directors of our club are not clowns. I'll leave that to the media. Whether it's the Hong Kong consortium or Mike Ashley that take over I don't really care. So long as they understand what it is to be a ger! Sadly, the Aberdeen manager was signing on Thursday. But when told he was not the definitive decision maker he baulked. I'm actually happy a ger turned down the job. I am looking forward to a bright future with a ger of class. Murty.
