  1. Back in 2012, it was hard watching a Rangers team cast into the lower reaches of Scottish football. There were a few bright lights; Lee Wallace's commitment to the club, Barrie McKay's verve and, Lewis Macleod's determination to prove, 'there can be only one'. I thought Lewis shone brightest, undersold by David Somers for £900,000 and, two appalling knee injuries at Brentford saw the diminishing of what could have been a stellar career. He is only 30 years of age, I wish him every success as Rangers Academy Coach.

  2. A couple of years past at the Rangers AGM, I thought a chap from Edinburgh asked a good question. He was mid thirties and told as a lad of travelling through to Ibrox on the supporters bus. His old man and other adults in the club bunged him a couple of quid and he entered the Rangers shop, knowing he could purchase a bar of Rangers chocolate and a club keyring. He reminded the Board that dozens of other children did likewise because a fiver got you a couple of items. He ended by stating there was nothing in the shop these days for under fifteen pounds, why? I have a couple of nephews and a niece, I want to give them all an Easter Egg. This morning I went over to Ibrox and was surprised and appalled they no longer stocked Easter Eggs and have no plans to do so in the future. I remember the shop used to stock a selection of Rangers themed eggs, the eggcitement of receiving a Rangers crested mug containing a choccy representation of warmth, shelter and, sustenance. We are playing Hibs at home on Saturday, the club should roll away the stone and resurrect the eggpectation of indulgence. There was an opportunity this week for the club to receive a bit of good publicity. The Orcadian shopkeeper that over ordered several hundred Easter Eggs on the island of Sanday was looking to offload. Bung the RNLI and take the eggs and get Broxi to hand them out pre-match. The receiving kids would have been eggstatic. We used to sing at this time of year : There is a green hill far away Without a city wall Where our dear Lord Was crucified He died to save us alllllllllllllllllllllll together now, the cry was no Easter Eggs. Sort it Rangers.

  3. Aribo cost over a million to sign on agent and sign on fees for the player. Stuart Robertson mentioned this during an interview. The thing people forget with bosman deals is that without a transfer fee the players side are in a good position to negotiate so can ask for higher than normal wages and fees. Sakala is a great example of a player trading model, sign a player for a modest wage and sign on, get a good couple of years out of him then move him on for a few million. Not every good trade has to be a Bassey or Kamara.

  5. If this turns out to be another mid to long term muscle injury we need to move him on in the summer. Happening far to often and he’ll never play a consistent run of games.

  6. And a boy who has yet to start shaving scored the winner.....(for Brazil). In Scotland, we would still be 'nurturing' (or some such rubbish) his talent, and would continue to do so, until he had a full beard, three weans -to different girls, natch- and had developed a prodigious drouth.

  8. Bassey is a good example. Taverneir is still not a good example, even if he does make a profit. Good business, absolutely, but we need to be selling them earlier. Ridvan cost us £3.4m (add-ons take it to £5m). Is that the criteria? "Continually outstanding"? Bassey was a bombscare at the start - and that was after a year of not starting a game - so he wouldn't count. Bassey needed time to develop. (He was older than Ridvan when he was written off... 👀) (Dessers was never worth £5m. I said so at the time. Terrible business. That doesn't mean we can't get use out of him.) Ridvan does fit the model. Your - or my - opinion of him is irrelevant in that regard.

  9. During their period of dominance in Scotland the SNP have been able to cast themselves as being the opposition to Westminster. (Off topic, I know) but if Labour get in (and especially as the Tories are floundering) I wonder if a Nationalist and conservative party would get any traction If Alba, for example (or a completely new party), cast themselves as being for immigration control, increased oil production, generally rescinding SNP/Green policy I suspect they'd do reasonably well whilst Labour are in power.

  11. Apparently our girls did the exact same thing in 2022 and posted photos at that time and nobody said anything. Just looks like anything to take the gloss off a Rangers victory by those with a hatred for all that our club stands for and achieves. It would seem this now even extends to the wummin's game.

  13. He should certainly be on more than 1 goal and 1 assist given the way we play and the level of opponents we face. Perhaps I want too much from him, like maybe just once every 10 corners he gets it past the first man, or that he can actually tackle in a defensive position or prevent a cross from coming in. You know, old school full back stuff before all this xA nonsense was being used to try to prove that a player everyone can see is sub-standard is actually almost standard in one of 100 categories. The facts are that despite improving hugely, he still is miles short of being good enough IMO. I would try to make a profit on him in the summer, he is clearly desirable elsewhere, but I don’t see him moving anywhere so he will continue to get my full support during matches, and my honest assessment on Gersnet.

  14. I must admit I am surprised he has been fit for this long, I thought he had only managed a handful of games between injuries. Looking at your link, 1 goal and 1 assist in about 13 games worth of minutes between league and scottish cup since Xmas reinforces my thoughts that he is nowhere near good enough, and we must look to replace this summer or next winter at the latest. While I am pleased to see he has certainly improved his overall play and doesn't give the ball away as much as he used to, he is still fairly poor defensively IMO and not providing enough goals/assists offensively. He has now had the run of games and settling in period so there are no more excuses, he just isn't what we need. However he is very well thought of back in Kebab-land so hopefully we can make some money from him, as he was bloody expensive for such a limited player so hopefully that value has increased over his time with us, winning trophies and playing high profile games in Europe will certainly do that on highlights reels.

  17. There was a big Rangers crest placed over the Hearts crest in the Hearts dressing room, which you can see in some pics/footage*. There's no indication the Rangers players/staff left it there, so I have no idea what the problem is. All seems a bit petty. *I don't normally look at pics/footage of women's changing rooms...honest.

  18. Agreed ..... and I feel something similar about mens football in general, which is almost always a snore-fest. Nowadays I'd rarely think of watching football that didn't involve Rangers but I'd willingly watch rugby or cricket or even tennis. I've concluded that I support Rangers, not football, so it could be being played by hamsters but as long as they were Rangers hamsters I'd be watching.

  22. Today, BBC Scotland accepted the Presenter of their BBC Radio Scotland programme, 'Off the Ball' committed a breach of standards. RAB(Rancid Auld Bigot) Cosgrove made an unacceptable claim about former Rangers skipper, Richard Gough. The Swedish born Scots international was not involved in the show when subjected to the Cosgrove assertion, "ah don't think Richard Gough was against apartheid". A listener complaint was upheld by the broadcaster because the comment gave the impression of being a personal attack on someone who did not have the opportunity of responding and, went beyond what would be considered acceptable in a programme of this kind.

  23. This topic has been a circular shambles for months. Admin should have locked it long ago but for some reason don't seem to have the balls for it. I'm not the only one who has finally decided to block the sources of this incessant stream of offensive Russian propaganda. It's a relief to no longer see their output, which has been good for me but should never have been necessary.

  25. Yet again ... basic point scoring? There is no doubt that Nazi Germany, Japan, you name it, did heinous acts and committed war crimes. That does not mean that war crimes to "counter" this are not war crimes either. Nor are war crimes and mass murder in this day and age any better. You think that a German may not say so because of his own past. As has been pointed out, US and British history is littered with this too, there is no moral high ground for anyone in this. And if the US or Israel is committing mass murder, it will be noted and said. Same with China, Russia, or whomever you deem "worthy" of that "honour". Just stop pretending that one mass murder is worse or better than another. There is sure nothing anywhere near as vile and brutal as the recent wars of the US/NATO or Israel against the populations of the attacked countries going on in Ukraine. The official death toll can be checked every other day. But I see the replies have gone somewhat quieter after the above posts anyway. Wonder why ...

  26. Time flies. Most answers have already been given. We've been through this "Russia bombs civilians" before, nothing has changed. Civilians are being killed, and will be killed. Not on purpose, though. Russia will lay the Ukrainian infrastructure low to keep it from sustaining their war effort. Military equipment, people, you name it, are all relying on electricity, transport, etc.. Hence, this will be destroyed. People sit in the cold and darkness? Yes. No partying in the bigger cities, as people sit in the metro? Sad. In any war the West has waged these last 30odd years and more, these people would have far greater problems than that. The "Islamists" in Moscow were pawns. There's a reason why next to no terrorist in the Western attacks is caught, or let's get himself caught. You see these guys and see Tajik goat herders rather than hardcore jihadists. Hired killers. And Ukraine has a long history of hiring these kind of people, as you can e.g. see in the article linked above. Whatever these chaps from Moscow confess will be disputed to no end in the West, yet, they dispute anything the Kremlin says anyway, no matter how blatant the facts are that stare them in the face. Nothing new, and Russia won't care.

  29. I'm saying that the outcome would be the same if you did. Almost all political energy is diverted to the constitutional debate. Meanwhile all kinds of legislation sails through with the approval of most mainstream parties. Often with the tacit approval of all parties.

  31. They will not. Many of the people that complain about it will vote for Labour to "stop the nats". The Scottish constitutional debate is the single most effective form of political containment known to man.

  34. And here’s the banger in of the goals, Lawrie Reilly of the Hibs. I saw him interviewed on the telly mentioning the respect that existed between the Curtain and the Five sides. He said he never wanted to leave Hibs but if they wanted to sell him he would have gone to Rangers. Thank God he’s not playing on Saturday, nor Joe Baker nor Neil Martin. I wish Colin Stein was - for Rangers of course.

  37. As it happens ... NATO aggression - 25 years ago the bombing of Yugoslavia began ... On March 24, 1999, NATO troops began bombing Yugoslavia. I’ll tell you about this in more detail for those who don’t particularly follow history, and especially for those who consider NATO to be such a white and fluffy “exclusively defensive bloc of states” that profess human rights, the rule of law and international law. On March 24, 1999, NATO Secretary General Javier Solana ordered the commander of NATO forces in Europe, American General Wesley Clark, to launch a military operation against Yugoslavia. In the evening of the same day, Belgrade, Pristina, Uzice, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Pancevo, Podgorica and other cities and towns were subjected to air strikes. In NATO documents, the bombing was officially called Operation Allied Force; in the USA the name Operation Noble Anvil was also used. ... Anyone who likes to accuse Russia and its leadership of "the first destruction of the established world architecture since World War II” and violation of state borders - I suggest you remember NATO’s aggression against a sovereign, internationally recognized state in the very center of Europe. And what’s quite interesting is that NATO began its bombing without UN authorization, calling it a “humanitarian intervention,” essentially ignoring the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force without a decision of the UN Security Council or not for the purpose of self-defense. ... And it's not a joke. For example, here is what Czech President Vaclav Havel said about this in an article in Le Monde on April 29, 1999: I think there is an element in the NATO invasion of Kosovo that no one can doubt: the air attacks, the bombs, are not motivated by material interests. Their character is exclusively humanitarian: the main role is played by principles and human rights, which take precedence even over state sovereignty. This makes the invasion of the Federation of Yugoslavia legal even without a UN mandate. Here we can recall the attack on the Belgrade television center and the Chinese Embassy - humanitarian bombing in all its glory. ... 25 years ago, the Western world, without UN sanction, tore apart a sovereign state in the center of Europe. Don't forget this. Especially when you hear about the peace-loving NATO bloc, which, of course, does not threaten anyone. https://telegra.ph/NATO-aggression---25-years-ago-the-bombing-of-Yugoslavia-began-03-23 The story goes that NATO decided to jump in and help Kosovo "separatists" who were chased by the Serbians. The excuse was 45 murdered Albanian "civilians" in the village of Racak, which the UN commission for determining war crimes WAS NOT ALLOWED by the US to go, since Richard Holbrooke decided it was a "genocide" (Kosovo than had 2,100,000 resident of which 1,700,000 were Albanians, so 45 dead, and it is a "genocide"), the bombing campaign lasted for 78 days, destroying infrastructure and industry which was already destroyed by sanctions. Obviously, the Balkans were a hotspot of inter-ethnical and -religious violence for ages. These "separatists" did not hold a referendum, they whipped up a parliament which decided the separation of Kosovo. NATOstan and the EU instantly accepted Kosovo as an independent country (remember, they didn't even asked the people), about half the planet did not and does not. Methinks I did mention it before, but I guess you do note the "separatists vs genocidal government" background? For some reason, some separatists are good separatists (Kosovo), and others are not (Donbass). Some genocide actions are true genocide actions (Kosovo), others are not (Donbass). Rules-based society is such a fine thing if you lay down the rules and change them according to your whim.

  38. So, our National XI was horsed, fairly readily, 4 goals to nil, by a Dutch side without Sam Lammers - HE was not even on the bench !! Perhaps the country should be grateful for small mercies. Koeman, probably, is keeping him up his sleeve, as a wild card, for the Euro Championships.

  39. I've heard it used positively during DEI meetings. They think they are superior, as they're fixated on social justice, lived experience and protected characteristics but in reality, they cause as much division and hatred as those they hate (gammons, brexiteers, stale pale males, the patriarchy etc.). Steer clear of labels and you stand a better chance of being listened to.

  41. Some players after recovering from injury run out of the tunnel and carry on as before. Most need a run of games to find either match fitness, or form or confidence or any combination of the three. I suspect Sima falls into that category which is a great pity because the team is coming to the part of the season when they can’t afford a run of games for an under-performer. A pre-injury Sima would be a mighty asset.
