  1. Work commitments and a crappy Ipad at home have restricted my comments on Gersnet recently, but another abject performance on Saturday has me rather fed up with our club's direction. I dont blame Murty who is doing the best he can given his complete lack of experience and tactical knowledge, but we simply have to be doing something NOW to prepare for next season. We had good players come in during the January window and we got a wee bounce from that during a successful February, but our lack of any consistency has come back to bite us with 1 point out of 9, now needing to beat Dolly at Pittodrie AGAIN to have any chance of second place. Managerial inexperience has cost us big time in these last few games, as Murty had no clue how to use the man advantage against the tims, and doesnt give enough thought to his bench and changes which are a hugely important part of the game these days. More experienced managers like Rodgers and Clarke took full advantage of these tactical opportunities and both left with full points instead of what could and should have been 2 wins for us. With 7 defeats and 2 draws in 22 league games, Murty cannot possibly be considered for the permanent position, I think at last everyone is in agreement with that, although no doubt if we somehow manage to beat the bheasts in the SF that will be enough for some to clamour for him to be given the job. Being Rangers manager is all about consistency, and failing to beat Dundee, St Johnstone, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Hibs, Hamilton, 5 home losses, would be enough for us to be howling for a sacking if he was a permanent manager. Instead our rage should be against the men who have allowed this to happen on their watch - the board. After the fiasco of the handling of the "resignation" of Warburton, the shambles of appointing a mate of a mate in Pedro instead of doing a proper diligent appointment search, the board should have acted quickly and decisively to appoint a proper football manager to ensure we didnt lose any more ground on a clearly "there for the taking" bheast side, and instead this sticking plaster over a gaping wound has allowed us to be watching how small the gap is between us and FOURTH place in this 2 team league. For that the board are undeniably guilty and the goodwill from freeing us from our previous custodians is slipping at an alarming rate and they simply have to get this appointment right this time with no more excuses. It has to be a decent name in the game who the fans will get behind with confidence. If it doesnt work out then fair enough, but it can be no more gambles like a Pedro or Murty. The playing squad has been improving with each window since our return to the top flight and this is encouraging, but it will count for nothing if the right man to pull everything together is not found. As for who that is, debate and counter debate continues apace. I would do (again) what I would have done the last twice, ask for applications and go through them properly. Ask our DoF for advice, thats what he is there for. Under no circumstances allow cronyism to creep in. I know Steve Clarke favours the hoops, but he is a professional manager who may never get the chance to manage a club of our size, has done a remarkable job with a side who were relegation certainties in our league before he arrived, and has the right coaching credentials having been number two at two of the biggest clubs in England, a decent stint at WBA, and will have good contacts throughout football. If not him, then certainly nobody with less credentials than him.

  3. Another thing - if the BBC refuse to cover our games properly we should look at options of striking a deal with other broadcasters even if it is local radio and just return our share of the BBC contribution. I don’t see how we can be tied into deals made by SPFL or SFA that do not give us equality with other clubs. There is something not quite right about the BBC doing commentaries on a Sky broadcast when we are being marginalised in terms of coverage. There must be some angle here.

  4. If he was at any other club in Scotland he'd be getting a start and hopefully a run of games. Rather see that than have us go for Louis Moult.

  7. The problem though is mate - we don't have a "dispute" with the BBC. We have one with one of their employees. Our contract is with the SPFL and not with the BBC. However, despite us all knowing the BBC are at fault here - is anybody seriously expecting the SPFL to back us up in a disagreement with anybody whatsoever, never mind the BBC ? The SPFL have a duty of care to all the other clubs here too. If the Rangers fans are so upset then the answer is clear ------ stop attending away matches. Let's hurt the other clubs to force them into perhaps thinking about backing us against the BBC.

  9. The BBC have a deal with the SPFL for a certain amount of cash. The cash gets shared out between the clubs depending on where they finish up in the league table . The amount of matches covered doesn't come into it. Also, we have a contract with the SPFL so would not be allowed to make our own deals.

  10. Great idea. Perhaps one one item could be to exhibit Rangers memorabilia, add some historic match footage or other additional descriptors or people related to said items, explain history and relevance then offer channel for online bids. You could maybe do that on a regular but not too frequent cycle to ensure decent stuff. Bit like antique roadshow.

  13. Last Friday night we presented the Founders Story in Alexandria for the Vale of Leven RSC and friends. At the end of the evening our Restoration of Graves donations bucket was sent around the hall and the incredible amount of £228.15 was raised. This included the proceeds from a raffle that the Club held. We'd like to thank the organisers for a cracking event and everyone who attended for their overwhelming generosity as this will help to ensure that our Restoration work continues over the coming months Thank you. http://i68.tinypic.com/2h7j41l.jpg[/IMG] http://i65.tinypic.com/rwnmzd.jpg[/IMG]

  14. Maybe a topic could be why we in Scotland don't have any premier league football on Easter Monday or have a full holiday program of football and also to bring back the traditional new years day game against Celtic

  15. Quick update on this. Our first 'real' launch show was recorded last night so it should be available over the next couple of days. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and feedback and hopefully the real thing goes down well this week.

  16. It's pretty obvious the screens were turned off intentionally. Whoever made that decision made a huge mistake. I saw Bears spewing at a service station just over the border at about 8am on the morning of the game. It's up to folk if they want to get wrecked that early (I have done it myself, regretfully) but it was certainly a contributory factor in what went on. And as usual, it's the decent folk like yourself who suffered. I got locked in a wee pub about 5 mins before kick off. I remember a Manc lass asking me what the Hell was going on.
