  1. Our original colours were blue and white, it was this that determined the make up of the scarf.

  2. I say....go down the Jamie Murphy route - 1 year loan, with an agreed price to buy at the end of it. Try before you buy....

  3. I'm not sure where your photograph came from but a few of the player captions are wrong, attached is the original team picture. Tom Vallance is wearing the Scottish lion on his jersey because he was capped by Scotland in 1877. Going back to the scarf: Why would it be a lighter blue when our colours have always been royal blue? We haven't incorporated the star because we have no evidence of Rangers ever wearing that top. There have been claims over the years that the lads were members of Clydesdale Rowing Club. We have records of Tom Vallance being on the Clydesdale Committee in 1884 but nothing about him actually competing. Now Clyde Amateur have a pointed star as their Club badge which is identical to the badge worn on the jerseys which we wore for the iconic team photograph that was taken for the 1877 Scottish Cup Final. Our research has discovered that Rangers actually wore blue jerseys in all three of the games, there was the initial Cup Final and then two replays. This has deepened the mystery as why we’re wearing the white shirt in the photograph. What’s also interesting is the fact that the players are set out in the in the on-field positions that they played which was a common thing for Rangers teams to do. Rangers player William Dunlop actually hints heavily in an article which we have on our website that the lads had their own rowing club which was very common at the time and that it was this that they turned to in an effort to keep fit if injured. We are continuing to work on this as part of the project and hopefully will have an answer soon.

  5. Humour in general will be very dull..... In many situations you simply can't criticise other people as it's deemed offensive. I see it all the time as my wean goes through school....there is no competitiveness in anything, there is minimal failure & students EVERY requirement is pandered to. Freedom of speech is one thing, but forcing ones opinions on a wider society is completely different.....but if you try & silence their opinion, they claim your blocking their right to free speech. It then gets VERY difficult for the rule makers, and often they end up bowing to the opinions that are shouted the loudest.

  7. We’ll end up with either a general election or a second referendum and because people are sick of the issue we’ll end up staying in the EU in all but name. It’s a carefully orchestrated hijacking and a disgrace in every aspect.

  9. Dragons are by default clever and cunning beasts. A gnome trying to dig his way out of a pyramid with a spoon shows exactly the kind of mentality that Ill Phill has ...

  10. British humour will be a very dour affair for future generations. When did we develop such think skins? Criticism is an essential tool in a productive society. More folk need to read Nietzsche.

  11. What opinion is that? I couldn’t see anything other than “they’re bad, we’re good”, which is a Guardian staple. The thick imposter is simply a face-label to deflect the origin.

  13. Without being willing to turn this in a pro/con-Windass debate: we actually have enough cover for Windass already, not least if we decide to go 4-3-3 as some suggest. Murphy can play across the front line and also as a shadow striker, Arfield is there, Ejaria and Dorrans too. Our left flank in a 4-3-3 would be John - Arfield - Murphy. The right probably Tav - Docherty - Candeias. In the middle it is Rossiter, McrCrorie, Jack and possibly Coulibaly. Windass' best bet is if we play "two" up front and he's the shadow striker. Honestly though, I'd rather have two full-blooded strikers in there. At the end of the day, it will be up to Windass to decide what is best for him. If he choses Cardiff, Swansea et al over the Gerrard revolution, I for one wouldn't lose any sleep.

  15. Nothing to do with politics....I think it's just the way society as a whole is going. It basically becomes difficult to say anything or voice any kind of opinion without SOMEONE being offended by it.

  16. Absolutely. I think we're seeing that with the DoF. It's still just the beginning.

  17. We need to have a recruitment policy that makes sense at various levels or we won't move forward as a club. We need to build, rather than the annual chuck it in the bin and start again. What we have been doing in recent years is the road to nowhere other than financial problems.

  24. When I was young we played Dungeons & Dragons at the University RPG Society (good old Keele University) and there was an adventure where you characters entered a pyramid, were trapped and moved through various tunnels. In one we found a gnome who was adamant that he can dig a way out of that pyramid with his tea-spoon. For some reason, when reading the OP, that gnome sprang to mind ...

  25. That for me is the bottom line for me, what he did was wrong without question, however everyone deserves a chance, his girlfriend is giving him a chance so is she so wrong?. SG knows the guy well and he believes in him as a person, who are we to judge? let's hope the guy gets back to his best on the pitch.

  26. To be fair it is being marketed by the founders trail and early Rangers strips from the founding period had no red in them. This strip for example was used from 1879 to 1883 and looks very similar to the scarf. This is the earliest one to feature any red in it and was used from 1904 to 1907. This link shows all strips from the very first to the most recent. All Rangers strips
