  1. I'm away to open an account...

  2. I'm trying my best not to get carried away, but as weeks in football go this has been a very enjoyable one and I aim to make the most if it. The last couple of years have been so bloody awful that professional away performances against half decent European sides should be greeted like long lost friends. A word for Murphy who does a power of work without the ball, tracking runners, closing space, harrying defenders and midfielders, much of it unseen. His final ball could improve but his overall contribution is under appreciated. Walk about today with big smiles on your faces Bears, enjoy these moments, we've earned them.

  3. We need another three players: a striker, a centre-half and a creative midfielder. We also need Rossiter fit for depth and the likes of Sadiq playing regularly. Playing Thursday/Sunday every week means we need to rotate players as much as we can. If not, niggling injuries will be picked up (See Coulibaly) and we'll soon lose momentum as players become tired.

  5. I agree. Better teams than Rangers have gone there over the last 2/3 years and didn't get better than a point. The best part about last night for me that was it continued our momentum. Momentum is key in football (especially with new teams) and the fact that the players were determined to get through the tie shows us a lot about what SG has managed to get through to the team this early. For example, you get the impression that the defenders would be gutted to give away a chance to the opposition never mind lose a goal. I like that attitude. I know it's early but it's giving me the same feeling I had back in the 86-87 season when Souness put his stamp on Rangers after 7/8 years of dross. That season we started slowly and surely (with a few initial hiccups) but the signs were good and we gained momentum thanks to our improving domestic form (2 OF wins including a League Cup win) and a confidence boosting unbeaten UEFA cup run (Boavista, Borussia Munchengladbach). After that there was no stopping us and the momentum carried us to the end of the season.

  6. Rangers travel to Ufa in the Republic of Bashkortostan to play the local side to get into the group stages of the Europa Cup. Scottish fans who missed out on visiting Russia during the World Cup can experience Russia first hand and enjoy the beautiful city of Ufa and it's warm hospitality. As a Scotsman who lives in Ufa I know that local fans will warmly welcome all Rangers fans.Don't believe the lying Western Media, there are no bears in the streets, the people are friendly and all football fans can enjoy a great time.

  9. Maribor would have destroyed us last year. It was a hard tie that was dealt with in a very professional manner. Keep in mind that in recent years, Chelsea, Spartak Moscow, Sevilla have all failed to win in Slovenia against them. They even managed a draw against Shalke away. Obviously they are not world beaters but they were a decent outfit none the less. Tremendous effort by the team and staff over the past few months. Very proud of the progress being made in such a short period of time.

  10. Over two legs against Maribor we did great. 3-1 against a team with that experience is excellent and then holding them in Slovenia...is ideal. I am delighted we're through and very impressed with how we performed. When I'm happy, you know things are going well. Chin up, Bears. The tide is turning.

  13. Personally speaking we are Rangers not Glasgow Rangers. Rangers is our official name and is quite unique in Scottish/English football tbh. Along with Arsenal, Celtic, St. Mirren and Albion Rovers we are one of the small bunch of teams in England and Scotland that don't have a geographical reference in our name. I kind of like that.

  17. I agree with you as a Rangers supporter Bill but the BBC will influence young kids who have parents who have no interest in football. I know quite a few kids that are crazy on football but have parents who are not. They have the BBC on there telly but no Rangers TV. That gives the other teams a big advantage.

  18. Not running down the Maribor result at all. FWIW I thought Osijek were a better side than Maribor. And we played better against them, especially away from home

  19. I think the Maribor side we played maybe past their best a couple of years ago. But I would agree they weren’t that great. Maybe because they’d been in the CL we expected more of them, but I’d suggest they only got in the CL because of the ridiculous ‘champions route’ qualification which has allowed inferior teams like them & the yahoos to get into the CL only to get slaughtered in the group stages

  25. Oh and it happens again? Guy comes on, Mhank says “aye I was watching the game, oh, it was a Thursday, I don’t mind watching the football on telly if it’s a Thursday”??? After he was finished wiping the sweat off his arse saying how good we were, he showed his lack of class by slaughtering a bear he had heard earlier. Dear oh dear, they just can’t help themselves watching the mighty Ranger?⚪️??

  26. I would say calling Rangers 'Glasgow Rangers' is a bit like in golf calling the Open the 'British Open'.......there's the U.S. Open, The Scottish Open etc etc, and there's the 'Open'...............................there's Queens Park Rangers, Berwick Rangers, Stafford Rangers, New York Rangers, the Texas Rangers etc etc......then there's us, Rangers........super Rangers!

  30. As long as we don't concede at home we'll be fine. This Rangers side aren't going to beat many teams by a big margin.

  31. Molde's record transfer is £4m for sold Diouf when he went to Man Utd. I thought at only 18 he might be valued around there but the world's gone mad with transfer fees. Leipzig probably agreed to let Molde keep him till the deadline day.

  32. Apologies not a rumour, but Erling Braut Håland pretty much single handedly knocked out Hibs according to both Lennon and Solskaer. Just turned 18, 6 foot 3 striker and is already banging them in. Hope someone at Rangers has taken notice!

  33. Thought the referee was poor, he was flashing yellows at our players for fun but let their guys off with plenty. One in particular was the definition of a professional foul (and therefore yellow card) when one of our guys skinned their big centre back and he just stuck out his arm to take him down.

  35. Why do we keep getting drawn at home for the first leg? Even a con toss is 50-50. Not just us but Scottish clubs in general.

  36. I don't think Maribor were a poor side but we don't have a say who we play in cup competition and we did the job were others failed , well done Rangers.

  40. If we keep winning in the league a win at the piggery on September 2nd will produce a meltdown of classic proportions as we move 4 points clear of them.

  43. Why do you think that they are introducing a new 'Scotland' channel imminently? They as an organisation play a huge part in shaping hearts and minds. PQ wields more influence than the casual viewer would give credence to. If people like Tom Devine are invited on to any given platform to give us all the benefit of his wisdom, inevitably some will be influenced by his 'truth'. And Tom is one of many such agenda shapers deployed by the BBC PQ mandarins. To that end, anyone who thinks that the BBC is an irrelevance in both narrow and wider senses, is naïve in the extreme imho.

  44. Some really good posts on this thread - from both sides of the debate. It would be really interesting if the better points were collated and sent to BBC Scotland and other relevant parties for comment. We know the answer from BBC but we really should be applying a bit more pressure.

  46. Your overuse of superlatives continually lets you down. We clearly were NOT “absolutely garbage” last year given we scored more goals than every other team. What you are saying is just patent nonsense.
