  6. St.Johnstone might appreciate our fans when counting up the takings. Over 7,000 at the game today when (last w/e prior to Xmas) attendences tend to drop off. Compare that to under 6,000 when Celtic visited their ground for a Sunday league match in October.

  7. When thousands of Hibs fans ran onto the pitch at Hampden it was just a bit of over exuberance, so I doubt anyone can seriously get worked up about a handful of Bears celebrating with our match winner. Unless there is a hypocritical agenda I'm unaware* of. *?

  8. It might be 'petty and ill-informed' but the thought of Cosgroves long boatrace when Alfredo got his second today gave me a warm glow inside ! ....

  9. That was a strange game. It felt like we had 22 players on a 5-a-side pitch because there appeared to be no room at all for any football. Wallace must have wondered if he's become a bad luck charm now that his last two substitutions have been followed by a goal for the opposition within a minute or two. It was also strange because when Lafferty came on I felt he didn't really do much, but his disruption was enough to take their focus from Morelos. And talking of that wee guy, what a goal his second was. His timing to get in front of the defender was absolutely perfect and a sublime finish. His value increases with every goal. I predicted a hat trick for him, but I'll take the two. You may not agree that it was a strange game, but I'm sure we're all united in our delight/relief that we won the game. We can all go and enjoy Christmas, and hope that Santa brings the 3 points we asked for next weekend, and then maybe a striker and midfielder in the January window. ??

  10. Alfie showing how important he is for this team. We were garbage all day playing long balls up to the wingers looking for crosses into the box until the last 10 minutes where we played round them on the deck and then put the ball in the box from closer to the byline.

  13. It's about coaching and manager for me. Dreadful tactics. All we do is go wide and look for Tav or barisic to cross or pull back for candiese to cross from deep yet we don't have a single attacking playing who feeds off that type of play. Coulibaly as the midfielder who's to get beyond the forward is laughable. He doesn't have a single attribute to suit that role. Worral is constantly under the ball and makes it look like we are playing goldson as sweeper. Poor management. Only asnwer he has is to put in more crosses. Get the ball down and play through the middle and stop tinkering with the team.

  14. I don't understand what we're trying to do. Any team worth their salt just need to work a wee bit hard and we completely chuck it. And the manager and his coaches seem completely clueless in terms of being able to change the system or personnel to find improvement. Coulibaly off - Lafferty on please. Grezda off - Middleton on please. Let's go 4-4-2 and at least try to take the game to them.

  15. Their goal has been coming we've been really poor first half. The manager needs to stop changing the defence Worrel has been woeful as per ususal and for me it looks like Goldson has no confidence playing alongside him. Absolutely garbage.

  19. I wonder if today will mark a significant turning point in SG’s managerial reign here. Playing two up front made such a big difference to the way we played today. We certainly wouldn’t have won the way things were going until Lafferty came on. But will he now continue with two up front ? And, if so, what will the formation will be ? 4-4-2 ?3-5-2 ? I’m sure SG will look back at last season when firstly Pedro then Murty were in charge & both stuck rigidly to one up front. Both ultimately failed(although this not the only reason of course) and as a result got axed. My own view is with this squad we’re not quite good enough to play one up front especially when teams ‘park the bus’. Wedneday’s team selection will be interesting.

  28. Hmmm..not sure I’d agree with you on that one Ian. He was understandably short of match practice & it showed at times. Hopefully theHibs game will help him get up to speed because I don’t think we’ll have Barasic available again til next month

  30. Tav's stats belie his overall average performances though. Yes, an important cross again today, but how many crosses and corners and free-kicks he will waste again before the next telling one? Nigh every cross from Barisic creates danger, draws a corner or at least beats the first man. Anyone dare to watch today's or Wednesday's game again and counts Tav's? He's doing his job and of a decent enough quality. But I doubt that if there is better available, we won't take it. Today was the expected tough game in Perth. Our whole creative engine room (well, it is not well manned anyway) was out, so it was craft rather than guile. In fact, in a game like this, it was for long spells still too much guile in front of goal, as people tried to "tank" their way through the goal through a wall of defenders. As soon as Lafferty got on and into his stride, the Saints defence had two people to take care of, which created space for Morelos, who duly obliged. You would hope that we learn from that and trial it against Hibs. 3 valuable points, nothing else to write home about ... and that has often been the case in these fixtures in years gone by. That said, welcome and not too bad a return by Wallace.

  31. I'm confident we'll beat Hibs on Wednesday. I think we'll be 1 point behind going into the Old Firm game. Celtic will be tough to beat but will be without a couple of key players in Lustig and Rogic and I think they'll play the same as they did when they went down to 10 men in the 2-3 game with a low block. Provided we don't try the long ball and deep crosses into the box I think we'll beat them but beating them doesn't win us the league the league isn't won there and theres a lot of football to be played in the 3-4 months of next year.

  32. I read on FF that Morelos got booked for his goal celebration?????, missed that, he never left the field that I saw? where as their player did & celebrated in front of the Rangers fans!!

  33. We're 1 point off the top sitting in second place. If we can beat Hibs on Wednesday going into the game 1 point behind on the 29th we'll see how they deal with that challenge. We've not been this close to the top of the league for a long time going into this match. I don't think you can count the 2-3 game last year as any type of comparison as that team IMO were not title challengers. We've not been without our faults but we're a new team in the making and the experience of a tight challenge will be good for us this year. Celtic are the current champions and I think we will beat them provided we're up for it. As for title challenge anything can happen between now and the end of the season.

  39. The personnel and formations have changed but the tactics have been the same for 2 months now Frankie same type of play same type of result. No one is learning anything. If we keep playing the same we'll lose another goal in the second half and not score ourself.

  42. Yesterday's Shereen Nanjiani show once again included Angela Haggerty. As stated, she has been introduced under a number of supposed designations over the year, in future she will be known as, 'a Philosopher'. No shit, Angela announced that she had undertaken a course on Philosophy. The Rene Descartes of Cardonald College extrapolated on her achievement, "philosophy is all about thinking". I feel a new age of enlightenment is upon us. I think therefore I am will soon transpire into the more Yahoo acceptable, 'I hate, therefore I'm a Bam'. What will become of us all, when Angela starts thinking?

  44. Jack is an excellent player to have in the squad. A good team is about balance and that's up to the manager to sort out. A very good team needs quality and as well as balance. A VG team that wins things needs mental toughness on top. Jack gives the manager a particular option that is often needed in modern day football and he offers a degree of relative quality within the Scottish game but the balance is lacking wrt quality when it comes to a creative midfielder further up the park. Is Jack mentally tough?....I think he's got potential but I'm not sure he's reached that point in his career yet.

  46. If you're Steven Gerrard and you know the current squad isn't good enough to win the league, and you know the board doesn't have deep pockets, then you'd be looking to see whether there are any players who you could sell for decent money so you can fill the critical gaps that are staring back at you every week. Steven Gerrard didn't come to Rangers to sit and watch the world go by and if selling Tavernier or anyone else means, on balance, having a more able squad then he will do it. And so he should.
