  1. It was a sparse gathering in the PQ Gang Hut yesterday. Of course, Big Dick trapped, Al Lamont watched Sky's live coverage on the box and commentated as live. Both John Rankin and Cammy Bell fought to add comment over the canned crowd noise. Post match was similar to last Sunday, eight minutes and end of football coverage. Big Dick was in raptures over McGregor's latest transgression, he read out a list of all Rangers' red cards this season. He ended with, "that has been coming all season, he deserves it". The next breath had him asking both Rankin and Bell to agree with his conclusion, "Rangers deserved their victory, didn't they"? A couple of sentences and Big Dick handed over to Take the Floor. Oh, and no post match interview with Paul Heckingbottom. Before the match, before Big Dick lead the Pantomime players in the latest BBC Scotland 'as live' production; there was a conversation on that evening's Manager/Player/Young Player of the Year awards. John Rankin has a huge future ahead of him at PQ. He thought a Rangers player would win one of the categories. Big Dick was intrigued and dismissed Morelos because of disciplinary reasons. Big Dick remembered rehearsals and asked, "what makes you say that John"? Rankin, obviously relieved not to be questioned on Queen of the South's fall into Championship play-off survival, or the fact that his manager, Gary Naismith had been sacked; spouted a line of pysh that had the Gang Hut cheering, "every dressing room I've ever been in, has a number of Rangers supporters". John's prophecy was correct, Ryan Kent won Young Player of the Year and it was all those Rangers supporters in dressing rooms that delivered the accolade. It wouldn't, couldn't possibly be the lad's talent? This morning's Scottish Sun provided the following information, which proves that dressing rooms full of Rangers supporters are an ill-disciplined lot. In the last forty-two seasons, the Player of the Year award has been picked up by a Sellik player on 23 occasions. Rangers players have won the award on 10 occasions, less than a quarter. The Young Player of the Year has gone to Sellik players on 12 occasions, then it's Dundee United on six, Hearts and Rangers on five respectively. Our success in YPotY is a tad over 10%. While we are on this roll with the constant stream of pysh emanating from John Rankin's mouth. I would like to add, in two seasons where Rangers managers won the Treble, Jock Wallace in '77/78 season and Alex McLeish in '02/03; the Manager of the Year awards went to Billy McNeill(Aberdeen) and Martin O'Neill(Sellik). Rangers supporters in every dressing room, what are they like?

  3. The more informed Gersnetters(most of you) have PM'd to inform me John Rankin is currently at Clyde. I can only assume it was the hordes of Rangers supporters in the Palmerston dressing room that drove him out. Probably fed up with the amount of pysh he spouts?

  4. Typical clickbait from failed manager and former bankrupt Sutton. Nobody at Rangers should give a fuck for what he thinks.

  8. How about Bobby Shearer under the lights at Tynecastle, 26 October, 1960? Billy Ritchie carried off after ten minutes at 0-0 and no substitutes in those days. Nonetheless the Famous beat the champions - John Cumming, Gordon Smith, Willie Bauld an’ a’ that - 1-3. What a game, what a night. I can still see the look of grim determination on Shearer’s face as he pulled on the gloves and walked back to the goalmouth. Alex and Ralphie scored for the Heroes before Smith got one for the Hearts (ach, Shearer, ye mug, ye) but Davie calmed the nerves.

  9. Maybe we have not won anything this year but IMHO we are getting there with Young Player of the Year, goal of the year and "FOUR" players in Team of the Year small steps but in the right direction.

  10. The problem is, in the Twitter era, the ones offended get to decide what is and isn't allowed and sensible adult conversations about whether something is or isn't offensive get drowned out by the complainants. If a banner at a football match offends you, may I suggest you try to obtain a skin thickening cream. Or alternatively, just f*ck off.

  12. The last ten years: Burnley, 5th. Blackpool, 6th Swansea, 3rd WHU, 3rd Palace, 5th QPR, 4th Norwich, 3rd Hull, 4th Huddersfield, 5th Fulham, 3rd Four thirds and six lower places, proving absolutely nothing because the stats on their own don’t show if the teams in third plummeted from number one or soared from number seven.

  14. Fate of Susan Aitken to be decided at an emergency meeting of the SNP to be held next Tuesday The SNP Glasgow councillors group will meet next Tuesday to decide the fate of Council Leader Susan Aitken. The signs are not good for her despite her previously strong position - mostly due to her being part of Nichola Sturgeon’s magic circle. A leaked screen-grab of a plot hatched on a secret SNP councillors Facebook page to smear Labour leader Frank McAveety has caused other councillors to seek action. Additionally, her seeming interaction with Humza Yusuf outside of various ministerial and local authority codes of conduct is also undermining her. Last week at an informal SNP councillors group meeting and at the SNP Glasgow Regional Association she was under attack from colleagues. It can be summed up by one moderate councillor’s comments which can be summarised this - ‘I didn’t join the SNP to have my days filled with rubbish about Rangers, the Orange Order and the IRA.’ Aitken’s obsessions are coming home to roost. Interestingly the attacks are coming from all sides of the SNP - Aitken has a key “payroll vote” chunk of support from councillors looking for advancement within the council and the SNP, they tend to be younger and more extreme in their politics. Even one of those younger councillors is now openly lobbying against her.

  19. Don't forget that Flanagan is a RB too. He would be a good defensive replacement for Tav - if we had Barisic up to speed on the other side he could be the attacking replacement - without a penny being spent - providing us with good funds to improve the squad further up the pitch.

  22. I'm not sure Scott7 tbh. With regards to the overall point of "momentum" I wonder do teams get more momentum/confidence from a good semi final victory as opposed to just scraping through? I suppose at the end of the day it comes who turns up on that particular day.

  24. Totally disagree. Morelos adds more to the team than Defoe and is a better all round player. I'd start Morelos next week.

  26. Of course, it was the full intent of Sutton`s remark to whip up a discussion ahead of the game, as heated as possible. So the a) have something to talk about before and b) during the game. Elsewhere, this would be regarded as trolling, but the standards of the Scottish media scrape the bottom for years now and still find gaps to get a level further down ...

  27. I reckon the end of the regular season can be a psychological stop, think and go again. Hence the play-off mind-set tends to be different and momentum from what has gone before often goes out of the window.

  29. I wanted a comfortable second; we got that. I'm content. It is a tad frustrating, however, when you consider we could've nicked the title if it wasn't for a few sloppy results.

  32. The guy next to me is always pointing out McGregors behaviour during a game. One thing I’ve noticed is his shouting/gesticulating to officials during games, he also seems to wait and go off at half time with the referee talking/complaining on the way. Today when they came off after the warm up my neighbour said “McGregor looks like he wants to punch somebody”. Was he like this first time round?

  35. Embarrassing from McGregor, no other word for it. Instead of talking about appeals we should be urging Rangers to fine and suspend him. Can you imagine this sort of indiscipline under Walter Smith or Alex Ferguson? Perhaps what worries me most is Gerrard publicly declaring he is "running out of ideas" to impose discipline. Gerrard needs to take a long hard look at himself. Foderingham should be backed to the hilt.

  36. I really doubt that we will contemplate appealing this card. It was a straight red and denying that would bring us down to their level. Good win, some really good chances we let pass (again).

  39. Callum McGregor agrees with you. Callum revealed that he actually voted for McGregor – not himself of course but Rangers keeper Allan. He said: “I just think Allan has been outstanding. There were so many moments when he was keeping Rangers in it in Europe with massive saves. “His experience has been massive, bringing that team together. “He was as good a candidate as anyone – and his name is McGregor! “I really don’t know what the perception of that will be (a Celtic player voting for a Rangers player) but you can only be fair and recognise talent. “If someone has had a good season, I don’t know why you shouldn’t vote for them.” https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/callum-mcgregor-reveals-voted-rangers-14981534

  40. I tried to watch the first episode but I largely found it dull and I had severe lack of interest in a lot of the discussion. I think this reflects my attitude towards Scottish football in general, lamentably. But then, when I think back, I havent watched a full 90 minutes of any match except ours for several years now.

  41. Why has this Rangers bashing started to become more popular? We've had McCoist, Ferguson, Boyd, McCall, Dodds, and plenty of other ex-Rangers step in to cause our club harm? Is it necessary to be anti-Rangers to be quoted these days? And even if it is, why are so many ex-Gers so quick to put the boot in? Why don't they politely decline a comment if they have nothing good to say? Some like McCall and Dodds are nobodies anyway, but how disappointing it is to see people like McCoist and Ferguson speak of our club the way they do. When we win 55 and the invites are going out for the biggest party ever, our club icons should all be invited, however guys like these should be blacklisted. They can sit outside with their BBC and daily rag chums. Our club had a code of conduct at one stage, and ensured we maintained a level of class and dignity that was unrivalled. What has happened to that? Of course we all know that Ferguson and Boyd were classless morons while they were at the club (in contrast with their playing abilities) so maybe they shouldn't be a surprise, but others just shock me. I often wonder what John Greig thinks when he looks at people like Barry Ferguson. Both were very successful Rangers. Both were captains. That, sadly, is where the similarities end. Its also strange that some of our foreign icons like Albertz, Laudrup, Lovenkrands, Novo and Negri remain loyal while the homegrown ones don't appear to have the same respect for a club that gave them so much. Any ideas why some of our more recent crop of ex-players seek to do us damage? Whatever the reason, it's sad.
