  1. I love this video of Defoe from his time in MLS. He clearly wanted to take the free kick and was pissed off he didn't get to take it. Gilberto then fires it in and Defoe's reaction is priceless.

  2. Rangers, as things stand. However it depends on how things go with the rest of the transfer window. I also have major concerns about the referees and compliance officer and think that they could have a major influence on the destination of the title.

  3. The best player I have ever seen play for us, he simply IS the Messiah, and will be for the rest of my Rangers supporting life I am quite sure.

  4. A disappointing last 30mins or so as we lost our shape and intensity after the raft of subs. The dreadful play at the equaliser summed up the sloppy nature of our play and it was a really frustrating goal to lose. However, we still could have won the game late on but we weren't as clinical than of late. Annoying but still happy the pre-season so far.

  5. The ball from Katic into Kamara was piss poor, to be fair.

  6. I don't think Davis plays friendlies.

  7. Took us a wee while to play ourselves into the game but there's no doubt we're good value for the lead. As you'd expect with the deeper midfield selection today we are a wee bit more vulnerable to the counter and that has been the case a few times but we're still playing good football and, if anything, we're guilty of over-playing at times: Ojo, Tav and Katic all guilty of dwelling on the ball or giving it away. On the positive side, Davis has been immense, Jones impressive and once more Jack is more than reliable in the engine room. Looking forward to seeing Helander after the break and Aribo or Stewart might be better on the ball than Ojo has been.

  8. We share common ground on Club1872, an organisation with huge potential that's barking up entirely the wrong tree. It was the right tree several years ago but somehow they missed the tipping point and are now just drifting.

  9. A lot of players would still be sulking for not getting to hit the free kick and not bother celebrating or admitting that the other guy was right. Defoe's reaction is exactly what you want to see in a professional, and a team player first and foremost. I hadnt seen that before, but it sums him up quite well.

  10. The unlimited contract is a no brainer for me. Like you, I won't go to any away games (except occasionally in Europe) so it's a great way to keep following and supporting. The commentary is great, unlike the anti Rangers nonsense you get on the other channels, and of course all the money goes to our club. That's a win, win, win scenario if ever there was one. I know some people have criticised the commentary from Tom and others but I like it because they react the same way any fan would when we score, or if we lose a goal, or get a man sent off. I don't want to hear a Celtic fan gloat when we lose, just as I don't want to hear an Aberdeen fan silent when we score. I want the reaction from a fellow bear and that's what you get. I would say it's added a huge amount of value to my enjoyment of watching our games on TV. I'd recommend it to anyone.

  11. Before the season gets underway in a couple of weeks, let's see what Gersnet thinks the outcome will be.

  13. We outplayed Rovers for over an hour, worked their Keeper on several occasions. We scored a decent goal, wonderful cross from Jones, reminds me of Neil McCann's ability to drop one on the centre's head. The difference between the first hour and the last twenty-five minutes, Steve Davis was off the pitch. Everybody ran about, got pitch time into their legs, no one injured, everything's good.

  14. Great guy and all but I thought Lovenkrands was the worst yet when it comes to verbal diarrhea. Contrast that today with Steven Smith. Thought he was excellent and he seemed to have a positive effect on Tom Miller (from my point of view). Steven Smith kept to the game at hand and made some good points without the constant unnecessary butting in with inane clichés. Would have him for every game.

  15. Davis is a brilliant signing, pure class.

  16. We played some great stuff again but a few players have reminded us how it can change if we stop concentrating. Katic can be great, but showed at their goal an example of why he was replaced last season. He made a few silly mistakes and it cost him his place in the team. Based on the last couple of games I think Edmundson has jumped ahead of him in the pecking order. Katic is a young guy though and will hopefully learn to concentrate more for the 90 minutes. Kamara has not started the season well, and although he is still good, he won't get in the team ahead of Jack on that showing. All in all though we looked good and Jones, Aribo, Arfield and Ojo are all looking great for those midfield and advanced roles. Davis at the moment is a guaranteed starter too because he dictates the play. When he went off we had no one to take over. I now can't wait for our next competitive game against Progres.

  17. Another good 90 minutes of pre-season action under the belts, nobody injured, played some good stuff in first half and got a wee reminder of how it wont go all our own way in the second. On to Thursday and a much more important fixture.

  18. Sloppy performance. It is the game for it, however.

  19. Yes, and none of the defenders covered themselves in glory for how they dealt with it either. A real team effort!

  20. We are dominating possession and looking dangerous. Blackburn are fairly decent when they can get the ball into forward areas, and our defending has looked a touch rusty at times, perhaps understandably given the two CB's are probably our backups and this is also the first side who have tried to attack us in 5 games.

  21. Goal!!!!!!!!! A fantastic cross from Jones right onto Defoe's napper and he doesnt miss the header from 6 yards. 1-0 Rangers.

  23. I dont think Edmundson and Katic have played together yet? Will be interesting to see how that partnership looks. I'm guessing Blackburn will bring a strong side (for them) and that this should be more competitive than the last 2 Sunday matches.

  24. I don't see any change to the formation. Arfield did drop deeper against St Josephs towards the end of the game. McGregor Tavernier - Edmundson - Katic - Barasic Jack - Davis - Arfield Ojo - Jones Defoe I'm just surprised to see Arfield playing deeper, when he's been superb in that advanced position. I suspect SG's just giving everyone as much game-time as possible.

  29. It is steep for a pre season online friendly in fact approaching exorbitant might be a fair description. I'm irritated with them for that but not angry as such. I know they're putting every penny into the club.

  30. The price of one and a half packs of cigarettes or three pints of beer to watch Rangers live at any level seems good value to me but there always the option to walk the dog or paint a ceiling instead. On the whole, the unlimited contract seems the best deal, especially if like me you don’t go to away games.

  31. Has anyone ever had a bad word to say about Defoe? He seems very well liked by everyone, which is admirable in itself. He must be a great influence on his teammates. I really hope he helps us win the league (has he won a league title before?), first and foremost...after that, we'll see what's what. The only negative thing I have to say is that the 'Ooh baby, I wanna know' song is bloody awful.

  32. Agreed. And on top of that, him and Gerrard seem to really like each other. Just finished Gerrard's 1st biography and in it he talks about Defoe being the consummate professional when Rooney was injured before a WC and Defoe was on standby. Rooney made the squad and apparently Defoe went around the whole squad shaking everyone's hands and wishing them well for the WC - that was the year Ericksson took Walcott in his squad - Gerrard was adamant that England would have had a chance had he taken Defoe instead. Gerrard spoke of his admiration for Defoe and the way he handled the situation and being left out of the squad for a 17 yr old. As well as that, Defoe genuinely seems like he is loving life at Rangers. I would take him after this season again - he doesn't come across as the money grabbing type so could see him willing to stay on reduced wages to round out his career.

  33. I’m hoping and think there is at least a possibility that Tav is just too invested in the team and the potential of the coming season to think of leaving at this stage. He’s been there since the disappointments of the Warburton SPL season and he knows as well as anybody that we have turned a corner. Hopefully he’s simply so invested that he won’t want to miss this. He’s still young enough to make an EPL move next season.

  34. I doubt we would have him mate if he was 22. We can't even match Chelsea for a 16 year old.

  35. All joking aside, I would rather keep him for another season, if he is successful again he will be worth even more

  38. Grey Granite. A busy midweek of Euro action for four Scots clubs. Four ties equates to eight games, we all pay our license fee, the national broadcaster provides seven live commentaries. Rangers against St Josephs at Ibrox is deliberately omitted. We know why PQ fails to provide a service to elderly, infirm, isolated, .......... etc Rangers supporters. It used to be that we heard post match reaction from opposition managers at Ibrox. It was a mixture of triumphalism and grievance, dependent upon result. Last season, only one opposition manager, Aberdeen's Derek McInnes came to the phone to talk to Big Dick. Interestingly, it was after both Dandy Dons victories at the Stadium, our only two defeats at home in the entire season. On Wednesday evening, we received live coverage of Neil Lennon's post match press conference. We received selected quotes from the Sarajevo manager's appearance at same conference. Last night, Derek came to the mike, selected quotes from the Finnish teams boss, Angelo Alessio bravely met Chick Young at Rugby Park, and an exuberant Conah Quay's gaffer, Andy Morrison lapsed into his Kinlochbervie tones whilst lionising his team. Nothing from Steven Gerrard, well we expect that; but St Joseph's chief coach, Raul Procopio did speak and PQ ignored his words. He said, "The result is to be expected because we lost four nil in the first leg and Rangers are a world class team. I'm proud of my team and it's a dream come true to play at Ibrox". Compliments to Scots teams are no longer welcome at PQ? How about attendances at the four games? We were told just under 25,000 trapped at ra Stydome on Wednesday, 9,000 at Rucby Park, and Liam proudly acknowledged 175 of his fellow Dandies journeying to the Acrtic Circle. No information about the attendance at Ibrox. I believe it to be in excess of 40,000 and was the biggest crowd over the weeks Euro games? It would appear the national broadcaster no longer wants to promote the Scots game? We won't hear whether the tor in Gibraltar contains more granite than utilised to build Aberdeen. Further, we won't hear any discussion on the Scottish Co-efficient, we won't hear how many Scots international were in the Killie team humbled by singing coal men, we won't hear how the side that finished fourth last season containing four players in Big Dick's Premiership team of the year, struggled against reindeer herders and Santa's helpers, we won't hear ......................... etc That's the problem, we pay but we don't hear.
