  1. Why are we all so confident now? Celtic have had one bad result, their home match in Europe against the Romanian champions, having had a pretty decent result in the first leg. Other than that they've won their two league matches with ease and gone through in a sticky cup tie against a side in the league below them. I don't think Lennon is anything like as capable a manager as Rodgers, and he's managing Rodgers side so there will be more than a few players he doesn't fancy or who don't fancy him. But, he's still an experienced manager and they've still got some dangerous players. They'll still win against just about every other side in the league. I think this is our best chance to win the league in a decade but all this talk of being out of sight by Christmas and hoping Lennon is still in charge in January is giving me the fear.

  2. Oh Bill, how naive you are. The universe does care and it will punish you. There is a reason I touch the top of the exit door every time when I leave Ibrox, why my Dad always has Extra Strong Mints and must offer them to whoever is sitting beside him, why I'll only wear my white bar scarf to games, none of the others I own, why I won't listen to Radio Scotland for an Old Firm commentary but will listen to Five Live, why we have to park in the Science Centre car park for mid week games even though they changed the parking payment and it's a pain in the arse now. There's a reason why Rangers players who score on their debuts don't have good careers with us, why we should never bring an old player back and why we should always wear black socks with red tops. If someone can provide me with documented, tested, peer reviewed evidence that none of those things plays any part in the result and my ongoing peace of mind I'll ignore them and continue doing them anyway. Because they'd be wrong!!!! Football and superstition are intrinsically linked. There is nothing rational about football support, it's all emotion, it's all feelings and highs and lows and delirium and despair. So don't you bastards go jinxing it with your over confidence, because that's the worse jinx of all. The universe cares and it's watching all the time!

  3. While I am not as fanatical about Scotland as I used to be they will always be my countries national team and I won't let them change that. Lets also be honest, between 2012 until now we didn't really have a player who deserved to be called up. You can argue Lee Wallace but even that is a weak argument.

  4. I really hope this is a commercial success. It's the direction we need to go in if we're ever going to achieve any control over the marketing of our football product. Everyone should support this .

  8. I love flying, and I love my holidays. I won’t be giving up either. i heard a very interesting story on 5live yesterday about the amount of methane gas that a cow produces, which is essentially the annual equivalent of a car doing 12000 miles a year. I try to recycle as best I can and encourage my employees to do likewise. I am careful about using my heating and energy consumption. The airline industry are investing huge sums to try to fly greener, I hope they succeed. I’ll be damned if I’m giving up my flights and holidays while some countries continue to do precious little to reverse their negative consumption trends. Feel free to attempt to flight shame me all you like, and I will have a good chuckle about it in 2 weeks time on my flight to Vegas via Heathrow.

  10. Of course he's raging'. Indignation is the normal reaction when you've been misrepresented, belligerence when you've been caught telling porkies. I've been reading today how even SNP officials are sick of the reactionary grunters in the yes movement, which suggests they must be particularly bad news. I don't happen to share their views. I think the people who march on our streets and rage on the internet are what will save us from the nightmare of SNP independence.

  11. This is great for him and I'll be watching out for him in their games now. I really hope it helps improve him and prepare him for a shot at our first team next season perhaps. Good luck Josh.

  13. I ought to wish the RoI well as I do NI but really their attitude to us has been 'predatory' - not my word but that of Brian Kerr former manager. Instead of pursuing their own youth policy they scroll the ancestries of all young players in Britain. The 4 home nations have a gentleman's agreement not to poach, but RoI is a foreign country so it doesn't apply. Considering a big chunk of our greatest rivals' support pay homage to this foreign nation, it beggars belief to me that any of our support would want to see our players helping to develop that nation. As for McPake, he may not really be ready for our U21s (Middleton is in the queue before him) so RoI doing this is just a cheap attempt to tie him down at our expense for the future.

We'll be counting them too. Here's our head-counted Tally so far, versus the AUOB fantasy figures. Scottish media, take note!

  16. I see Elton John gave Harry and his missus a loan of his private jet. The press are pointing out their hypocrisy and Ellen DeGeneres, David Lammy and Elton himself have all come out in support of the jet-setters. We'll see taxes go up on flights fairly soon and people on lower incomes will be priced out of trips abroad. I think it might not be a bad thing - more people will holiday in the UK, where we have loads of beautiful places and terrific historical sights. We can always keep up with goings on in sun-kissed, far-flung lands via Harry's social media updates.

  20. Sorry Craig to belabour the point but he only qualifies if he has a Scottish parent or grandparent: the residency 'rule' only comes into play if he was at school in Scotland. Remember we had a similar scenario with Lorenzo Amoruso?

  24. Greg Marshall Well-Known Member Today at 2:01 PM #1 Lifted from FF: RTV will be available commercially for Legia Warsaw v Rangers! This Thursday evening we take on Legia Warsaw in the Europa League third qualifying round first leg. As a Club, we have purchased the UK television rights making Rangers TV the only platform to watch the match live. Building on the success of our first commercial showing against Midtjylland we are keen for Rangers Supporter Bars, Pubs, and Clubs to get involved! Along with our individual stream package, our official venue stream can be purchased by establishments to show the game to larger audiences. The package allows your venue to officially advertise the stream as a licensed bar and will be recognised in our matchday programme in the return leg at Ibrox. Unlike with an external provider, all revenue generated from the stream will be reinvested in Rangers Football Club. To purchase, contact the commercial department on 0141 580 8701 Thanks for the continued support!

  26. The attendance lie for these rallies is as long-standing as it is obvious. Gaining advantage through dishonesty is ubiquitous on all sides of politics today but the Scottish Nationalists have the clear distinction of having nothing else to offer. In fact it's worse than that - not only do ScotNats have to lie about everything they do but they almost always fail to gain any advantage from it. Grubby and stupid.

  27. At least they actually have a blood relative, Egg chasing is a joke, even big Jackie Charlton would be embarrassed by the nationalities allowed to play for the home nations.

  28. It's strange that there's still be no announcement about the game being on the TV. Perhaps RTV have found that their income isn't sufficient to cover the costs of purchase of the rights and the game may not be available (legally) in the UK.

  29. One Irish grandparent. Are the other three Scots? I assume mother and father are Scots. The qualification rules are nonsense. ROI team wouldn’t have performed as well as they have done for twenty plus years without all their Englishmen

  30. Good deal for him to go to Dundee. Hope it helps them on the way back and keeps the Arabs where they belong. As for Ireland or Scotland ... McPake is 17 and has quite a bit to go before being selected for a full national team. Methinks the Scottish u21 setup ain`t that bad, yet, when it comes to the national side ... it has been a shambles for years, if not decades. Whereas the Irish seemingly got their act together and are usually close to qualifying or at the bigger tournaments. So it might also be a question about professionalism and potential, rather than nationality. As we all know, playing for Ireland does not mean that he no longer is Scottish. Flanagan is Anglo-Irish, Kamara is Finno-Sierra Leonish, King Anglo-Welsh, Arfield Anglo-Canadian, Ojo and Aribo are Anglo-Nigerian, Jones Anglo-Ulsterish and Defoe Anglo-St.Lucian. Why would the choice for McPake any different?

  31. Despite last season`s run, trips to these Eastern places are always tricky. Seemingly, Legia isn`t on fire nor the team they were a few years ago. But I assume we will go there wary of any upsets. Their fans may be looking for blood ... when they should know how much we willed them on to hammer the Scum, which they did, only to be hauled back on the green table with the Scum acting like you would expect them to do. Hope our fans get home safe. RTV will show the game, and sure some Polish channels (perhaps via satellite). Not sure about the inclusion of Barker and King, neither of whom have seen much game time ... same goes for Docherty and Helander though.

  35. He has said it explicitly, and you are now suggesting he should choose ROI too. I just don’t get why any Rangers fan would want one of their best young players to represent them via a loose connection. Indifference to the national team is understandable but I don’t understand indifference to this decision, never mind leaning towards the boy choosing Ireland.
