  1. http://fourladshadadream.blog/2019/09/29/alfredo-morelos-from-the-heart-of-columbia/ My writing from today, I don’t normally stick these in here but hopefully people enjoy this one A small look at Alfredo’s season, the positives & attitude change making him a focused complete forward Not one booking yet, no mention from the media who gave him pelters & called him a psychopath etc Yesterday was as complete a performance as I’ve seen from him

  2. Why are we even trying to say Morelos is better than Defoe or vice versa? Can't they both be excellent players?

  4. I know it was just a twenty minute cameo; however, I was thinking Edmundson's interventions and tackle on Aberdeen's number 10 in the last five minutes was almost Sammer-esque. I liked the way the Aberdeen midfielder stayed tackle for fully five minutes. Maybe a consideration for the role of front sweeper against Young Boys on Thursday?

  5. Yes Morelos Davis Stewart Barisic and Katic were all worth a shout, but I am going for Stewart. Not because he was better but for the simple reason his was the surprise performance. What a pity he only hit the post off the long ball from Goldson otherwise we were already looking at goal of the season.

  6. I am not getting at Defoe but the unfair way of counting goals to minutes. I do however feel that Alfie offers far more on the total game structure than Defoe does. Nobody in this world can doubt Defoe's goalscoring record. We saw against Celtic how much we need Alfie to noiseup the defence though.

  7. The one on McGregor was no more than a yellow and, in fact, McGregor needs to rein in the histrionics whenever anyone gets near him. McGregor absolutely made a meal of it, but it did deserve a yellow. Worst foul of the game IMO was a straight studs by McGinn in Morelos.

  8. I did say that was what we should have got a year ago, when we should have sold him and kept Alnwick as back up. If this is the last year of his contract we have handled this badly.

  9. I think it was the first time I had totally taken in his size. He's a hulk of a guy with a turn of speed and good distribution ability.

  10. Yes indeed! Fantastic ball and run from Stewart. Deserved a goal.

  11. Couldn't resist posting a clip starting at the lead up and Defoe goal. Started in our half and 12 seconds later was dinked into the net by Defoe. A perfect goal to complete the rout which they richly deserved. They were lucky to escape something similar on multiple occasions prior to this.

  12. If a striker scores a hat-trick in one game then he has a goal every 30 minutes but you have to look at it over a number of games to get a good vision of percentages. What I will say is that when defenders see Alfie going off and Defoe coming on, they must think "Awe Naw"

  13. Regularly listed in world best 11's of the era. Gerrard could have played anywhere in Europe with the elite sides if he were a glory hunter like Ronaldo but stuck out his entire career at Liverpool during a relatively barren period for the team. A time when unlike previous eras the team wasn't littered with players the likes of Dalglish, Souness, Rush etc. That's loyalty in the extreme amid the typical greed of elite players where more often than not nothing matters more than the pounds and it's one reason I love having him as our manager. He's not just seen this craving from a support to win titles he's lived it and I doubt we could have found anyone else of that calibre with a more intimate understanding and motivation to achieve it. I also see in his press conferences qualities i'm glad he has. In general he is amenable to the press and always dignified in his demeanor to the extent that mainstream media and beyond typically regard him as unusually honest for someone in his position. And regarding that honesty when I keep hearing him repeating that he intends to be at Rangers for years to come I believe him. But that cordial demeanour can change ever so subtly but effectively when someone says something objectionable to him. He can close them down in seconds with just a sentence alongside a tiny change in his countenance and they know it's time to move shut up and move on. I envisage him having that kind of commanding character in the dressing room when someone needs a rollicking and how can they even think of arguing with a man who has the vast experience at the very top level he does. We may have lucked out and got they very best man we could in the circumstances during the troubling recent period in the clubs history which is still ongoing in some areas. And of course it can only help the clubs profile and attraction for sponsors that he's a footballing mega star.

  14. Maybe Defoe does benefit from Morelos tiring defences for some games but that doesn't tell the whole story, not by a long chalk. The Englishman's touch and awareness are still second to none and his football brain means he's still a yard ahead of defenders as we seen from his goal yesterday. In and around the box, Defoe is such a good player and that's why we've seen improvement from Morelos this season too in the way he links the game.

  15. Under no circumstances should we be releasing Wes on a free. He is a good keeper who has a real value in terms of selling on to the right market. A fee in excess of £3M should have been achievable this time last year, but with him not playing much last season this will have gone down but he would still be a good investment for a team looking for a dependable keeper, and a seven figure sum should be the minimum we should be looking for.

  16. Great summing up of the difference in him this year, and yesterday's added movement in coming deep to let Stewart go in behind and ensure Dolly hadnt a clue where to go or who to follow was an absolute joy to watch, and I hope we get the chance to see those two improve their understanding and connection as it has the potential to be sensational. One game doesnt win you anything in the big picture, and it could all come crashing down over the next 7 days of course should we lose in Switzerland and then not break down Accies but for now we have the right to enjoy what was a simply sensational team performance. As good as Morelos was yesterday, and I loved every minute of his performance, he didnt even get MOTM for me as Davis was on another planet yesterday!

  17. I thought they were trolling us with the 'errors' but I noticed yesterday in a BBC report they referred to Hibs' 1-0 draw with Celtic.

  18. Nothing is perfect but yesterday was damn near. My biggest gripe will be if Katic is not in the starting 11 on Thursday. Gerrard always says you have to win the Jersey back. Well with Goldson and Helander's performance against Dykes and Katic's performance yesterday then I will start to think that Gerrard has other motives to keep dropping his best defender.

  19. You have to take into account that Morelos has run them ragged for an hour. I doubt if Defoe would have the same record if he was playing every game from the start. Of course neither will ever be so good as Odsonne Édouard. Ever!?

  20. Superb performance today with so many stand outs, Borna continues to impress and we chalk up another clean sheet - very happy with that. David outstanding followed closely by Stewart, the latter I think would improve given more game time - his vision & link up play was a joy to watch

  21. Anyone starting to think Brenda could take Leicester to a top 4 finish? The usual suspects such as Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea etc don't have their problems to seek and Totenham too seem to be off the pace this term.

  24. The McGregor incident was nothing to write home about. Some of his antics are cringeworthy at times. Such a great keeper doesn't need to engage in histrionics like than today.
