  1. But they will defend talentless thugs like Brown, sectarian louts like Lennon, and racist scum like Griffiths. They are well suited to each other that lot. I thank my lucky stars every day in life that i'm not one of them.

  2. Cannot believe they used Hampden for their inspiration when designing new stadia.

  3. An era when Scotland produced world class players and most teams no matter where they were from fielded sides predominately or even entirely filled with nationals. Rangers fielded 11 Scots in the 1972 ECWC final while Dynamo fielded 11 Soviets. In that seasons European cup final between Ajax and Inter Ajax fielded 10 Dutch and 1 German while Inter fielded 10 Italians and 1 Brazilian. Fast forward to this years Champions league final contested by two English teams who fielded starting elevens which had just 6 Englishmen in the 22. Totenham had 4 while Liverpool had only 2.

  5. The former Liverpool midfielder has been catching the eye across the continent this season. Given his past there was always going to be plenty of interest in Steven Gerrard's managerial fortunes in Liverpool. Interest isn't just limited to Merseyside and Clydeside though, as the Rangers manager has been hailed as "a future great coach" by respected magazine France Football. The bi-weekly publication has been going since 1946, and organises the Ballon d'Or every season. Ahead of tomorrow's top of the table clash with Celtic they've taken a look at the Rangers boss in an article titled 'The Steven Gerrard method'. Paying tribute to his "constant progression", France Football believes that the former midfielder "has all the assets of a future great coach". They write that Gerrard has "clearly defined principles of play which suggest that the coach could live up to the expectations that his status as a legendary player gave rise to". The Ibrox gaffer has impressed tactically, with the French publication diving into "a slightly asymmetrical system" where Ryan Kent provides width on the left, but his counterpart on the right supports either Alfredo Morelos or Jermain Defoe. That allows James Tavernier to get forward on the overlap beyond "a winger in name only" which the respected magazine calls "a slightly hybrid system" with "high pressing and constant intensity". France Football also points to Gerrard improving since his arrival, noting that now "even when Rangers aren't having a good day, they win". Last season was the Rangers manager's first in the dugout and it's noted that he "was not always inspired in his choices" but now "Gerrard seems to have crossed a real milestone at this level". As evidence they point to the fact that Gers substitutes have scored 12 goals in 36 games so far this season. France Football points out that Rangers have lost just three games across all competitions this season and taken 2.61 points per game in the league, whereas Walter Smith's title winning side of 2010-11 lost nine games in all competitions. Rangers will face Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday as they look to close the gap on their rivals at the top of the Premiership. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steven-gerrard-hybrid-rangers-system-21176195

  6. Tam's a Bam. A fortnight past, Tam Cowan utilised the second half of 'Off the Ball' to appeal to the Referee of the next day's live for TV match, Motherwell v Rangers. He wanted to remind Don Robertson of Morelos showing petulance in the League Cup final. He highlighted fly kicks at ra Sellik centre backs and offered the Colombian had a habit of throwing himself to the ground and rolling around, without cause. If you have regular access to the national megaphone, why not use it? The next day, immediately after Alfie scored, he gestured to a grouping of young 'Well fans. A grouping that include members who have regularly pelted Rangers players with coins, lighters, and cups full of various liquids. Don Robertson issues Alfie his second yellow, and first red of the season. Tam got his wish. The fact Tam has not reminded his audience of this particular appeal is probably because he is embarrassed? Further, the PQ Gang Hut have ignored the appeal too. Truthfully, it's there preferred prejudice. Today, Tam shares presenting duties for the third week with Partick Thistle fan and comedian, Ray Bradshaw. If you expect laughs, you would be better getting yourself down to the next fire at an Orphanage! The second topic raised by Tam Cowan was Stevie G's appeal to tomorrow's Referee, Kevin Clancy. In light of refereeing decisions favouring ra Sellik during the League Cup final, the Rangers manager is asking for strong performances from the officials. Tam thinks this is wrong and condemns Gerrard for his appeal. The hypocrisy is outrageous. As we know, the principle of, 'reinforcement' is uppermost in the Gang Hut. Step forward Big Dick, only several minutes past, he also criticises Gerrard for his appeal to Clancy and has a fly kick at Morelos too, "Gerrard would be as well as appealing to Alfredo Morelos to finally score a goal against Celtic". Here's the thing, it's only several months since the final old firm game of last season. Remember, Lennon gave a press conference before the game at Ibrox, he reminded the Officials particularly of Rangers indiscipline, the number of red cards issued and stated his team would play on the continued expected indiscipline. Neil did not mention the correlation between ra Sellik and the compliant Compliance Officer. The entire Gang Hut were in an unseemly rush to support Lennon's right to make the statement. Let's all hope, Kevin Clancy is not giving Kristoffer Ajer the wink tomorrow.

  7. My recollection was we were exactly as boring, negative and anti-football as we see from the likes of Killie in our Euro run of 2008. Our tactic from our own bye kicks were to launch it high to McCulloch on the wing at the halfway line and we didnt actually care if we won the ball or not, just that we were not going to be exposed on the counter if we lost it. This was well documented and admitted by Walter, and it frustrated the hell out of most of us at the time.

  8. once he’s left Rangers for one of the top leagues in Europe, I hope Alfredo will one day give us his thoughts on his time in Scotland. What’s Spanish for pond life ?

  9. It didn´t work for Middleton at Hibs but I still rate the lad as a player and we should bear in mind that he´s still only 19 years of age. For me he offers more than Ojo and he´s our own player. That said, I´d imagine we´ll be looking at another loan move for the lad.

  10. I don’t see him at close range but Robertson looks for all the world like a GM rather than an MD. He’s all manager and no leadership. Which of course is what Dave King wanted. Hopefully King moving aside will herald a strongman replacing Robertson. We need one.

  11. Now you can see why we’re nowhere near to getting VAR in Scotland. Much better to have a compliance officer who punishes the indiscretions of the yahoos opponents & overlooks the indiscretions of the yahoos themselves. She is, of course, a yahoo herself who’d be put out of a job if we got VAR. And btw wish we had someone like Aberdeen’s Dave Cormack who’s prepared to speak out. We’ve got a guy called Stewart Robertson as our MD

  14. It looks like complete and total overkill by the police. Are we living in the worlds most dangerous city? There are 800 fans going to a game of football. Are we saying that the only way this can be policed is in this fashion? Its an absolute disgrace, and no wonder fans are turning away from going to games when they are treated worse than cattle, told when they must arrive and when they must leave, they are not allowed to stand and chat outside, they are not allowed to travel from any other direction other than the one the police tell them to, and anything outside of these rules will see them not allowed into the ground in time to see the game. And of course fans are charged over 40% premium on ticket prices to be treated in this way!! I'm glad I gave up going to this fixture a decade ago when prices got to £40. Nothing beats going to your biggest rival's ground and beating them for atmosphere and pure adrenalin, but they sure are trying everything they can to take this away from the fans. best of luck to our 800 who decide to put up with all of the above to go and see the match, only a victory will come close to making it worthwhile.

  15. If you have so much fear in you, what is the point in turning up? I'd rather my team had a go and lose than get beaten with this kind of scaredy-cat anti-football; not that Killie are alone in that.
