  1. ‘’Thus ended their first match played at the latter end of May 1872 some two months after the inauguration of the club’’. The words of Rangers player William Dunlop from his article The Rangers FC which he wrote so eloquently for the SFA Annual in 1881 using the pen name ‘True Blue’. Rangers Football Club played it’s first ever match 148 years ago this week. Our Club was formed on a spare bit of ground at Fleshers Haugh by a few kids who’d come to Glasgow seeking employment and a better way of life.Their Club ,which they formed for no other reason than the love of football and the pursuit of sporting excellence, would go on to become the world’s most successful. That first ever match was against Callander and ended 0-0, Willie continued, “Their first game was a terrible spectacle with the ball suffering an incredible amount of abuse” William McBeath was given man of the match and then spent a week in bed recovering due to his exertions’’ Founder William McBeath was from Callander and we believe it would have been Willie who approached ex-pats from the town who had settled in Glasgow and that’s probably where the opposition came from for our first match. Willie’s Rangers team-mate Sam Ricketts wrote in 1884 about the boys playing those first few games in their civvies and journalist John Allan wrote about them having to change behind a bush as there were no facilities. William Dunlop described how genial Peter McNeil would travel on a Saturday morning to a desirable part of the Glasgow Green, set up the noted standards and stand guard until the classic hour came when he would be joined by his friends. We felt this was a very dramatic and moving image and commissioned a painting to be done depicting this scene. We presented the painting by artist Helen Runciman to the Club in 2009 and it now hangs on the marble staircase at Ibrox. The Rangers would remain at Fleshers Haugh for three years. We then began our journey around Glasgow to Burnbank and Kinning Park before finally settling in the Ibrox area in 1887 where we would grow to become the world’s most successful football club. 2. “Best fans in the world no doubt. You guys gave me love & some moments in my life i’ll never forget. Thankyou“ Didn’t read the boards, did he.

  3. I'm sure his intentions aren't honourable or fair, but sometimes his questions can coincide with those that Rangers fans should be asking as well, as was the case here. We're asking the questions to ensure that the club is being run properly and with a genuine interest on what's happening within the club, whereas he's asking to shit stir.

  4. Stewart comes across as someone who is quite dim witted but regularly checks a thesaurus, in order to appear intelligent.

  5. With respect, my friend, that manoeuvre is bio-mechanically impossible, as Michael would no doubt be delighted to explain to you, himself; loudly; very loudly; and drowning out anything you tried to say.

  6. I do get the impression this Castore deal has raised a few envious eyebrows from elsewhere in the city

  10. I take it you know I mean he is obsessed with hating Rangers in case I have written it wrongly.

  11. He is a total Rangers obsessed hater with his head so far up his anterior he probably can't see daylight, and probably keeps Mutton up there with him.

  12. Similar to Ejaria. Ojo had the heart of a mouse. I wish him well but he'll end up about the same level as Ejaria if he's lucky at Reading, or somewhere similar

  13. Michael Stewart is a cnut. The decision is whether he is a reasonable cnut or an unreasonable cnut?

  14. Must stop he has the contacts there but not getting much joy, even Kent has still to prove he is worth buying.

  15. I suspect that SG has been suitably impressed not just by the lads talent but also by his grit and determination - enough that I can see Gerrard building the team around him and Ryan Jack - those two should, IMHO, be the pivots around which our team is built.

  16. Correct, we don't play with wingers. However, Hagi was often being asked to play off the striker (Morelos) from a wide(r) position. Given his vision and given he is two-footed, he would be better suited to playing a more central "10" than he has been. Hagi behind Morelos (or whomever his replacement is - Kamberi ??) with Kent left and a new player wide right (possibly even Jones if he can get back to pre-injury form) with Jack/Davis/Aribo/Kamara playing in behind would be a very solid mid and front 6.

  17. Maybe I’m slightly paranoid but I’m not entirely sure Mr Stewart has honourable or fair intentions when asking. I think we’ll see a lot more of this as the summer goes on, mostly aimed in our direction and ignoring those in similar circumstances...

  18. If we're going to play him in a central position, it's a worthwhile deal. If we're going to play him out wide, I think it's a waste of money and a waste of talent.

  19. Great news. He was unfairly judged at times by fans who expected perfection but ultimately he is a player who is a cut above what we have technically and I think we should set the team up to make best use of his abilities.

  20. Morning all. First time poster so please be gentle! Going by the worlds worst £1 signings musings this morning I think it’s clear to see what the narrative will be during the transfer window. Anyone would think we were the only club to use the furlough facility. Here’s his take on the Hagi rumour... “I see some media reporting that Rangers are closing in on a £5m signing of Hagi. Can anyone explain how the club lost £11m, was needing £10m to see the season out, then Coronavirus hit and has deferred huge amounts in wages but can be linked with a £5m signing?”

  21. I hope Gerrard isn't contracted to bring in a Liverpool no-hoper every season.

  22. Clicked the link for Rayhaan Tulloch, and there is a list of comparable players on the right. Jizz Hornkamp and Adil Titi are two that appeared ,and could be worth signing purely for the comedy value ?.

  23. He is a great stand-in keeper for us but you don't save goals while bench warming,he deserves chance to go elsewhere and hopefully become a first team regular.

  24. The released players are as expected. I say it every summer but I think we need to learn from mistakes and prioritise quality. Every season we spread our wage budget thin when what we need are big players, Hagi being a good example.
