  1. 22 points clear, unbeaten in the league dropping only 4 points in the process, qualified for Europa League knock out stages - let's hope the embarrassment keeps coming over the coming weeks and months.

  2. The stats are incredible really. Can't give the players and coaching team enough credit but there's still a lot of hard work to be done!

  3. Can't agree with that tbh. Don't want to look back at the game and reflect on a great performance but not leaving with 3 pts in the bag. We cannot give them a glimmer of hope. Points before performances for me all the way.

  4. Morelos double secures vital win at Pittodrie as Rangers go 22 points clear. Rangers extended their lead in the SPFL to 22 points after a double from Alfredo Morelos secured a vital win at Pittodrie. On an afternoon when Celtic’s folly in travelling to Dubai was confirmed, with the club announcing that at least one player has returned a positive test for Covid-19, Rangers put on a professional display to extend their lead further on the SPFL and take another step to securing their first league win since 2011. Steven Gerrard named one change from the eleven which started in the win over Celtic last Saturday, with Ianis Hagi coming in to replace the injured Kemar Roofe. Aberdeen made three changes from their goalless draw with Dundee United, the main one being on-loan Ranger Ross McCrorie, ineligible for selection against his parent club, who was replaced by Dean Campbell. Rangers won fairly comfortably at Pittodrie on the opening day of the season in a game which lacked any real highlights. The same could not be said of today’s encounter. Within 20 seconds Rangers should have been ahead after a mistake by Ash Taylor put Alfredo Morelos in on goal. The Columbian, who has struggled in front of goal this season, finished weakly and the chance was gone. A minute later Aberdeen then had a chance when a mix up in the Rangers defence allowed Sam Cosgrove to run in on goal. Connor Goldson managed to force the big striker wide, and he had to settle for shooting high and wide. Then on seven minutes Hagi unleashed a shot from outside the box which dipped just over the bar. Rangers were slowly asserting themselves on the game when they created their best opportunity through Ryan Kent. Barisic crossed into the box for Hagi to flick on. Kent set himself, beat his man and fired past Joe Lewis, only to see his effort cleared off the line by Jonny Hayes. The rebound found its way to Tavernier who unleashed a shot, only to see it saved by Lewis. Then Rangers had a great opportunity to take the lead thanks to a penalty after Morelos was fouled in the box. The Columbian played a great one-two with Joe Aribo, and was running in on goal when Hedges clipped his heels and brought him down. It would be Hedges last involvement in the game as referee Beaton viewed the incident as a denying a goal-scoring opportunity and produced a red card. Tavernier stepped up, but fired the spot-kick wide. That miss was only denying the inevitable, however, and Rangers took the lead on 32 minutes thanks to a great goal from Alfredo Morelos. Steve Davis played the ball to Tavernier who done well to beat his man and play it into Ryan Kent. Kent played a great ball into Morelos, who turned fired a great shot past Joe Lewis. The lead was the very least Rangers deserved after an excellent period of dominating possession and imposing themselves on the game. Aberdeen were extremely lucky not to be reduced to nine men after a shocking tackle by Curtis Main on Borna Barisic. Referee Beaton bizarrely viewed it as a yellow card. Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes took advantage of Beaton’s leniency and immediately took Curtis off and replaced him with Shane Logan just before the half-time break. Rangers wasted no time in the second-half in increasing their lead when Morelos scored again on 50 minutes – his 10th goal of the season. Some neat work from Rangers put Aribo in a good position running into the box. He placed a good ball into a dangerous area which was flicked on by Kent to Morelos, who took a touch before firing home his second of the game. Rangers then nearly went 3-0 ahead when Joe Lewis made a great save from Ryan Kent, who hit a great shot from outside the box. With Aberdeen down to ten and Rangers displaying some of their early season swagger, it seemed like a long way back for the Dons. However Aberdeen came close on 56 minutes to reducing the deficit when Jonny Hayes pulled a great save from McGregor after a quick free-kick caught the Rangers defence napping. Rangers failed to take heed of the warning, however, and Aberdeen pulled one back in the 66th minute when Matty Kennedy scored after a well-worked goal. Cosgrove put Jonny Hayes through who slipped the ball into Kennedy who finished well. Ryan Kent then had a chance to finish the game but opted to pass the ball when it was probably a better to take the shot on himself. Kamara then had a had good chance to score after a neat one-two with Morelos put him through on goal, only to see Joe Lewis save his effort. The win puts Rangers in a commanding position and Rangers’ manager Steven Gerrard was delighted with the win stating: “We’re very pleased with the result, obviously. We said before the game it would be a tough game. “I thought we were excellent until 2-0. I was really pleased with us in possession, the chances we were creating were very good. But at 2-0 we changed our mentality and our mindset. “There’s a lot of things we need to look at within the performance and the result. But to take nine-from-nine from Aberdeen is a big effort from the boys”. ABERDEEN: Lewis, Considine, Hoban, Taylor, Hayes, Hedges, Campbell, Ferguson, Wright, Main, Cosgrove. SUBS: Woods, Logan, Ojo, Kennedy, Anderson, Virtanen, Edmondson, McGinn, Ngwenya. RANGERS: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Balogun, Barisic; Davis, Kamara, Aribo; Hagi, Kent, Morelos. SUBS: McLaughlin, Bassey, Helander, Defoe, Itten, Zungu, Patterson, Barker, Stewart. REFEREE: John Beaton

  5. It’s often a tough place to go but not today. That’s was a stroll in the park, it only seems otherwise because we lost a daft goal but in reality we completely bossed it.

  6. Game management. Do not allow Beaton the opportunity to level this up ie either reducing us to ten men or awarding Aberdeen a penalty. Give it 20 minutes hard in the second half and get at least the second. Easy street awaits. Come off it, and Aberdeen begin to win free kicks, then we are playing their game of set pieces.

  7. I don't think we have that much wriggle room tbh. If we start thinking we have, we will fail. We should play every game as if they are level with us. Not 10 pts ahead with "wriggle room"

  8. I can't believe how often people refer to American democracy as something admirable or to be cherished. The constitution and the founding principles - yes, what it has morphed into - no. Does anyone else think the poor security response to what happened last week was intentional? You're not telling me the Police, Feds and other groups didn't see it coming and had sufficient time to react.

  10. I note Scottish Government Health Spokesperson, Linda Bauld has tweeted reference the increased chances of infection on crowded planes. Further, the number of infected surfaces are multiple on aircraft. On the return flight, why didn't the pilot insist all windows remained open?

  11. Quite incredible he wasn't sent off today. Cosgrove as well avoided a yellow card despite at least 6 or 7 fouls.

  14. A crazy goal to give away which had a visible effect on the way we played thereafter. We really cannot afford to switch off like that and we should know that after the Benfica away game. Lots of positives though with the biggest one being a fantastic three points. Some excellent individual displays as well: Kent was superb, Morelos on fire and Davis controlled the game. Just a pity we spoiled the last 20-30mins.

  16. Even more incredible when you think that winning 3/4 games in a row seemed to be impossible for this squad about a year ago.

  17. I think it's worth reiterating just how consistent we've been in the league so far this season 15 wins in a row in the league, 65 points from a possible 69 available, scoring 59 goals and conceding just 6 times in 23 games (8 points better off than we were this time last season).

  19. Indeed. I was merely speculating. In any case, I say react to King’s words merely because that’s what happened and they contradicted him. It was odd that King felt able to project a Board opinion despite no longer being on it. Someone is being economical with the truth and someone also was selling something. I’m sure more information will come out on this eventually.

  20. I hope not. For one this is still a brutal virus so whilst maybe other Celtic players will come out fine, if it gets passed on then it could result in some serious incidents for other people. Also, I think if they can't control it then the authorities may view it as a reason to stop football.

  26. Another unacceptable display from Beaton at pittodrie. Failing to send off Main was ridiculous. And what about the assistant referee? Did he not see anything?

  27. Best we have played in a while, some nice quick passing going on. Terrific finish from Morelos. Keep at it Rangers.

  28. We should have a Law similar to that in rugby, where persistent infringement by a side leads to a yellow card for the next player to transgress.

  31. I hope we lose the habit of giving the opposition a clear and early site of our goal. It's happened in the last few games and we won't keep getting away with it. I reckon Aberdeen will start out of the traps by pressing us higher up the pitch than usual and look to make hay from what they hope is another sluggish start by us.

  32. I think it's obvious who moved their goalposts, and it wasn't Rangers

  33. It's their biggest rivalry although for banter value, it'd be good to see Cove Rangers put them out of a Cup. I think it's fairly obvious that they do more than register as a rival to us and have done for decades, including the 80's prior to the Simpson tackle. -------------------- Aberdeen have seemed to be very mediocre in the League this season but other than their 2 defeats to us, they have only lost ONE game out of the other 18. Outwith the OF, McInnes has again got them to a level that is significantly better than the rest, with Hibs the only other team in remotely the same postcode. Very consistent but in a very grey tone. In other words, today is a significant hurdle to get over. More especially with the players we have missing. Last week was a pivotal win. Today is about starting the downhill side the right way, in one of our most difficult league fixtures. -------------------- By my calculations... - Morelos is one booking away from a suspension. If booked today, he would miss the Hibs (A) game. Could be significant if Roofe isn't back by then. - Re. Hibs (A) Hibs have 3 players one booking away from suspension. Their best piayer at Ibrox the other week, Newell and their 2 recent Scottiish caps, Hanlon and McGinn. If booked against Celtic, they´ll miss game against us. Had their game not been moved to Monday, I reckon they may have missed a different game (if booked v Celtic). - Rangers have scored the same amount of League goals as Aberdeen and Hibs combined (57). - Aberdeen have conceded the same amout of league goals to us in 2 games, as we have to all teams in 22.

  35. These reports are top class GRB, better than anything you’ll read in the tabloids tomorrow morning. Thanks again for the excellent summary. Id forgotten about Kent’s miss in first half when he done everything right and then hit the defender on the line when he could have picked his spot. Would have been a fantastic goal.

  42. A well earned lead at half-time with some excellent football at times and only an extra goal or two missing. Davis and Kent have been particularly good and Alfie has really got going as well after a slow start. Aberdeen, of course, should be down to nine or even eight men with Main and Ferguson lucky not to be have been ordered off: the former for a disgraceful knee high challenge which I'd love Beaton to explain then Ferguson who should have had two yellows in quick succession but got off with at least one of them. The rugby tackle on Kent was surely cautioned? All about us now. We need to maintain our discipline and take advantage of our extra man by scoring more. Keep the door shut at the back and it's another three points. Various players look hungry and sharp after a week's rest so they should be confident!

  43. Appreciate the reply mate, I only signed up (or tried to!) to give Gersnet the click through, things like this don’t really interest me so there’s no way I’m going to give passport and card details to a company I’ve never heard of and that I won’t ever use. I will do a few click throughs on the adverts on Gersnet instead!
