  1. Disagree. He isn't getting much game time so pointless him being here. We also have other, better options even if Morelos is out. Roofe being just one. If we need two players per position then we have Morelos & Roofe for the central striking role, Itten would be 3rd choice and hardly get any game time.

  2. While I condemn racist behaviour of any kind it is obvious that there are sections of society that are permanently offended and who try and influence society for their own gain, let's not be fooled into thinking that those making the complaints are anything more than agitators and leftists who want to see a society moulded to suit them, it's political point scoring to quell loyalist voices and we all know it.

  7. I get that @CammyF but I will actually be disappointed if we don’t sell at least one for a 8 figure sum this window as our finances require this or we need to go into debt or get Directors to stump up again. I like the look of Itten, he has bedded in now, looked our on form striker in pre season and instead we now need to rely on Sakala who will now need perhaps a half season (same as Itten) to get up to speed. Roofe doesn’t stay fit for more than a handful of games at a time, Defoe is emergency only as he learns the coaching, now leaving only Alfie to get the title winning numbers of goals. I don’t think we are as strong up front as it may look on paper with everyone fit, that’s all. I trust our management to get more right than wrong and they have certainly earned our trust on these issues, so I’m trying not to worry too much.

  11. I know its early and he has hardly played much football but am I the only one that is not overly impressed by Sakala? Would have Itten over him at this moment. Big Cedric had never let us down.

  12. Not many strikers, though. I wonder if Alegria could step up, if needed? Edit: Forgot about Sakala. Meh--we'll be fine.

  13. She’s for it now. You can’t say that sort of thing about the best wee country in the world and get away with it. Her only hope is for her publicity to rush out a statement that she recognises Scotland’s great efforts have been thwarted by Westminster.

  16. You’re right, they absolutely don’t care that their bias is obvious. It’s become a mark of their power that they can flaunt it with impunity. Rangers fans who refuse to understand this and continue to howl at the moon for some non-existent “fairness” are badly deluding themselves.

  17. Nearly 90 Retired Generals & Admirals Call for Pentagon Chief and Gen. Milley to Resign in Scathing Letter August 30, 2021 by Kyle Becker Written by Kyle Becker https://beckernews.com/read-nearly-90-retired-generals-admirals-call-for-pentagon-chief-and-gen-milley-to-resign-in-scathing-letter-41232/ U.S. retired generals and admirals are calling for the resignations of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, over the disastrous handling of America’s exit from Afghanistan. Nearly 90 of the flag officers issued a scathing letter on the Afghanistan exit, as well as the role Biden’s top brass played in the debacle. It is posted in full below. “The retired Flag Officers signing this letter are calling for the resignation and retirement of the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) based on negligence in performing their duties primarily involving events surrounding the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan,” the letter reads. “The hasty retreat has left initial estimates at ~15,000 Americans stranded in dangerous areas controlled by a brutal enemy along with ~25,000 Afghan citizens who supported American forces.” “What should have happened upon learning of the Commander in Chief’s (President Biden’s) plan to quickly withdraw our forces and close the important power projection base Bagram, without adequate plans and forces in place to conduct the entire operation in an orderly fashion?” the letter continues. “As principal military advisors to the CINC/President, the SECDEF and CJCS should have recommended against this dangerous withdrawal in the strongest possible terms,” the letter continued. “If they did not do everything within their authority to stop the hasty withdrawal, they should resign. Conversely, if they did do everything within their ability to persuade the CINC/President to not hastily exit the country without ensuring the safety of our citizens and Afghans loyal to America, then they should have resigned in protest as a matter of conscience and public statement.” “The consequences of this disaster are enormous and will reverberate for decades beginning with the safety of Americans and Afghans who are unable to move safely to evacuation points; therefore, being de facto hostages of the Taliban at this time,” the letter continued. “The death and torture of Afghans has already begun and will result in a human tragedy of major proportions. The loss of billions of dollars in advanced military equipment and supplies falling into the hands of our enemies is catastrophic. The damage to the reputation of the United States is indescribable. We are now seen, and will be seen for many years, as an unreliable partner in any multinational agreement or operation. Trust in the United States is irreparably damaged.” “Moreover, now our adversaries are emboldened to move against America due to the weakness displayed in Afghanistan,” the retired military leaders added..” China benefits the most followed by Russia, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea and others. Terrorists around the world are emboldened and able to pass freely into our country through our open border with Mexico.” “Besides these military operational reasons for resignations, there are leadership, training, and morale reasons for resignations. In interviews, congressional testimony, and public statements it has become clear that top leaders in our military are placing mandatory emphasis on PC ‘wokeness’ related training which is extremely divisive and harmful to unit cohesion, readiness, and war fighting capability,” the retired military commanders went on. “Our military exists to fight and win our Nation’s wars and that must be the sole focus of our top military leaders,” the letter added. “For these reasons we call on the SECDEF Austin and the CJCS General Milley to resign,” the letter concluded. “A fundamental principle in the military is holding those in charge responsible and accountable for their actions or inactions. There must be accountability at all levels for this tragic and avoidable debacle.” It was signed by 90 retired generals and admirals. The full list of signatories can be read here. On June 23, General Mark Milley appeared before Congress and made the argument that Bagram Air Base could safely be abandoned. The United States has declared that the War in Afghanistan is “over” and the “last plane” has left Kabul airport. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans are still stranded in the country, which has been overrun with ISIS terrorists, and is in the grip of the Islamist extremist Taliban. President Biden has thus broken his commitment to get all Americans out before the Aug. 31 deadline or to remain there until that mission was accomplished. If “the bucks stops here,” as the Commander-in-Chief claimed, then perhaps the U.S. president should resign, as well.

  18. It was supposedly from The Athletic, but I can't actually find a reference to it at all. Probably nonsense. I presumed McCann would be a replacement for a departure. I don't mind us snapping up talented young players, though; even if they do not get a game immediately.

  20. So the club think it needed to make a statement about the behaviour of individuals well outside the confines of the stadium, what's the behaviour of people well away from the club have to do with them in the first place . And who said these people are fans and not just a bunch of silly Billy's out to cause trouble let police Scotland deal with anything outside the stadium after all that's their job .

  21. Surely if it is £15M plus addons then it is only £15M for now as the addons haven’t been triggered. Take off VAT £2.5M, then 10% to player £1.25M then the sell on clause. There is absolutely no way on the planet the bheasts paid £9.5M for him. Typically they add in all potential future addons, agents fees (sometimes wages too) when leaking what the deal “costs” to their lapdogs. My guess is if the bheasts say £9.5M it was probably about £6M transfer fee with the rest being other costs that wouldn’t count when calculating profit. This is generally shown to be nearer the truth when their player trading figures are disclosed in the accounts.

  22. Fair points Cammy. I liked Itten as he offered something different IMO. Still have my doubts whether Sakala will have any impact on our season

  23. I was at the B team game on Saturday and would describe him as "raw". He has pace, scored two goals (missed a sitter from 6 yards out) but the opposition were terrible to be honest - think they've conceded 54 goals this season. He will undoubtedly score goals at B Team level but I would be surprised if he features for our 1st team this season. If he continues to score goals, might even see him going out on loan 2nd half of season to championship side like Raith? For what it's worth, some decent performances from B Team any time I've watched them and they play decent football. For us not from the West, Dumbarton isn't the easiest to get to but at £7 for an adult and £3 for kids / concessions I'd recommend popping along and lending our support to the B Team.

  24. Clearly I did too, lol. Itten now 4th choice central striker. H ewouldnt get game time, best he goes elsewhere to get game time, confidence and hopefully goals.

  25. After the signing of Sakala we looked overstocked up front to be honest. We look overstocked at centre back and midfield too, Katic will surely secure a loan? Looks like Hadjuk Split are interested, that would be a decent move. In centre mid I've no idea, but we have 8 seniors midfielders to 3 midfield positions, something has to give surely. There's no way McCann signs in those circumstances. I think we lack a good tackler in our midfield.

  27. Has she been to China, Russia, USA, Indonesia or India yet? She may have, but these are currently the largest users of fossil fuels by far, according to some estimates up to 60-70%, or is Greta just happy to bang on to smaller European countries who have a tiny carbon footprint pander to her views and are so woke they will not challenge her?

  30. The final paragraph in the statement is a subtle dig at the people who display selective outrage. It's all so tedious. No one is actually offended by songs and everyone knows the statement is a tick box exercise. This is where we're at as a society - a minority of shrill Tweeters seem to run the show.

  31. The weekend has seen the breakdown of the MV Heberides. The vessel is 21 years old and has had to travel to Birkenhead for repair which puts it out of service for at least eight days. Perhaps, Cal-Mac or the Scottish Government can tell us why this vessel cannot be repaired within Scotland? Oh I forgot, ra Sellik could not defend a corner thus all Scottish Government Ministers are banging on about anti-Irish racism.

  32. Like we had all summer, mainly from supporters who like him and his style. Thing is, our midfield is loaded to the hilt, we`ve just signed Bacuna, who IIRC playes exactly McCann`s role and first there need to be slots available, as I cannot see many displacing Kamara and Davies who are not named Jack, Aribo, Lundstram, Arfield et al. And signing someone for hard cash to be loaned out immediately and reared for the future ... hm.

  33. While I largely agree with you that the club can't be held responsible for what happens in the town an hour before a match when MSP's are publicly calling for a response from Rangers it's difficult for the club to remain silent. Even if the MSP in question is someone with questionable motives and undoubtedly doing it for political reasons, it's hard for the club to simply ignore him, unfortunately.

  37. Didn't he leave under something of a cloud last season? We should get a development fee for him now. I remember when Dylan McGeoch left us for them, he was going to be the next big thing. We got £100,000 for him apparently, still the highest transfer fee anyone has ever paid for him. More recently Liam Burt joined them, also a player a lot was expected of at one time. I hear he's a regular in the League Of Ireland now, so that's pleasing. If he's willing to join them then I'm happy he's away.

  38. Joe Hart is for me the interesting signing they made. Going back to yesterday’s goal, Helander’s header was far from unsaveable. It was however to his left hand side which, during his loan spell at Torino a few seasons ago, the Italians highlighted it was his weak side & he lost many goals at that side. Just wonder if he’ll get exploited up here the way he was in Italy

  39. Only if told to by the ref for me. Otherwise you just get players fooling other players.

  40. There was a match against Partick Thistle at Firhill many moons ago where something similar happened. We gave them the ball back but Ian Ferguson then chased them down forcing them into playing it quickly instead of allowing them to retain possession. He was booed by the Thistle support and criticised by some in the media, but everyone at the game knew Thistle were time wasting and indulging in gamesmanship. I'm with Tannochside on this, no giving the ball back in those circumstances.

  41. Absolutely not, no matter the score or the time remaining. Give that shower of scum nothing!!! Any other opponent I would say yes in any circumstances other than those exact ones you mention, where you have to put decency aside and try to get something out the game. As always in these situations, if the ref thought it was a bad injury, he has the power to stop the game so if he doesn't we are not duty bound to return the ball.
