  1. Tav, Goldson and Lundstram were our best players. Ramsey and Kent were better after half-time but Tav seems to be the only creative outlet/driving force we have at times. We really need Joe Aribo to come back into some form.

  2. Dreadful performance, outstanding 3 points. Manager got the starting line-up wrong but changed it and won the game. credit for that. Dundee Goal: A mis hit cross Ramsay should have blocked but the fliught of the ball was hard to judge and the Dundee playing in the right place at right time. Our penalty - a stonewaller. Boy tried to rip off Alfredo's shirt. Loads of rangers fans on twitter saying it was never a penalty. Bizarre. Our first goal - came after us actually playing for a 10 min spell. Good play and great to see Ramsay get a goal. Our winner - Roofe involved again. If he is fit we have to find ways for him to play in these games. Great from the coaching staff to push Goldson up front and overload them and what a finish from the big man. A very important 3 points. A terrible game on a cowfield. Now a nice international break to enjoy, regroup and come back for a massive month. Lets go!

  3. This part of the season is always about the pts regardless of performance. Goldson took his goal well and Ramsay made an actual contribution, not before time. So all and all, what needed to be done was done. I can see GVB ripping this team to shreds at the end of the season, he's clearly not happy with it. Small note that I've noticed recently, is that GVB refers to the players by their first names. Something his manager at Rangers didn't do as he was forever shouting peoples surnames, even during training. GVB seems to value the personal touch. I think we'll be in good hands with him, but you can tell he's looking at some of the players and wondering what Gerrard was thinking.

  4. I absolutely condone the protest by Rangers fans at Dens Park. In fact I congratulate them on their action and hope they will step up these protests in future. It's understandable that the usual suspects should get all pissy about interruptions in play, and wring their hands in pious indignation. However, the board got us into this mess and should be reminded loud and long and often that, having ignored the support when they arranged this friendly, the can't do so any longer. What the streamers and tennis balls did was ensure the wider public could see our anger and make it impossible for our directors to sweep this issue under the carpet, as I'm sure they would love to.

  6. Tav for me, can’t believe I’m going for a player who missed a pen but he drove us on and is growing as a captain and leader all the time. Goldson had a much better second half than first (could say the same for most of them) and was a close second. I actually thought Arfield was the best in the first half, and was surprised he got hooked. I did have faith we would turn it around, and backed us at 5/4 at HT to win the match. Dundee are poor and the way they chased us in first half wasn’t sustainable for 90 mins. I felt it was only a matter of time before we found a way through. Glad we stuck with it, I think the players knew we have no wriggle room left this season. I was quite proud of them leaving Dens Park after the match. Very gratifying seeing our team guts it out when in a hole. Of course it’s better to be 3 up in 20 mins!

  8. I opted for Goldson because of his goal.

  9. Are we to believe not only that this happened but also that it is noteworthy enough to report?

  10. tav and goldson drove us on to victory. Ramsey showed flashes of quality. Goldson for the goal. Tav btw just after they scored running the length of the park to cloe their keeper down after a dundee corner and folk say he isn't a captain. Good time to miss pen in the end. You can't score them all.

  11. i had one arguing with me that he didn't get his shirt pulled. Weird. I pointed out i could accept he didn't see it getting pulled but it was.

  12. pitch was awful ref was awful dundee were awful Rangers were awful result was superb. 7 wins and the league is ours. indeed 6 wins and a draw will probably do it. We will not get anywhere near that playing like this. lets use the 2 week gap to reset for our biggest game in years.

  15. I for one can distinctly remember us having quite a few of those types of performances during 9IAR. Sometimes ye just need to win.

  16. 3 points and the rest quickly to the record books! BTW, it shows what two or three strikers can do to a game. Roofe with 2 assists within seconds of coming on, whereas Kent and Arfield served up next to nothing. Maybe there comes a point when Gio and staff will realize what it takes to annihilate the opposition as opposed to dominating the ball possession stats.

  17. It's been lethargic performances like these throughout the season that has left us behind in this title race and if we can't turn it around in the second half then that race becomes even more difficult. Kent, Arfield and Ramsey all anonymous with the midfield also absolving themselves of any responsibility with too many passes back to our centre halves. We must up the tempo after half-time and I'd certainly make a couple of changes. Amad or Sakala for Arfield or Ramsey and I'd also like to see Roofe brought in.

  18. For the love of the game alone, I simply can`t believe that dozen of managers have spoken out against this man as a ref. He had an absolute stinker in the recent game, and not for the first time. How he gets "randomly" picked for our games is beyond me. Then again, that Yahoo-supporting chap at the Scumhut yesterday might be even worse. Today is all about 3 points, no matter how. I would still hope that we send out Sakala and Roofe from the start.

  19. Well, war in Yugoslavia / Serbia was far closer to "home" than Ukraine is nowadays and for all the furore and hysteria, IMHO, Russia has no intention whatsoever to threaten you and yours. More like protecting theirs, something which "the West" ignored for years and now for one reason or another, also ignore much of what has gone before this operation altogether. In the cold light of political affairs, does anyone really think the Western powers care about the human rights, democracy and children dying in the Ukraine? It is a wonderful thing to get the public on board with what they are doing, cloud people`s minds with talk of greater good, against authoritarian regimes and whatnot. It was the non-plus-ultra opportunity to hare after Russia, cripple its economy and remove them for a decade or two from any sort of greater influence on the West and its politics. And that they also cripple the businesses and economies at home (e.g. gas and oil prices go through the roof ... despite Russia actually still send their stuff to the West and serious questions have been ask already about what goes on at the stock, gas and oil exchanges) for the greater good of the Ukraine? This whole thing here is a prime example of how big-player politics is being carried out on the back of a conflict that should have been "nothing more" than any of the conflicts/attacks listed above. No-one who suffered in those wars should have suffered, especially those people who had nothing to do with the politics on either side of the conflict - that goes without saying really. Nor is the above any sort of "excuse" of what happens in the Ukraine right now. Still, we are all old enough and hopefully wise enough to "see" what is really going on here.

  21. From the Tunnel of Hate to the Grassy Knoll. PQ have changed tact, from continuing as if a Scottish Club(Rangers) had not knocked out the German club(Borussia Dortmund) second in the Bundesliga in European competition to now, attempting to grab a piece of the action. BBC Scotland's preview of the Red Star Belgrade tie contained the revelation, "Red Star are privately pleased to be paired with Rangers". Their preview of last evening's game in Belgrade was Alasdair Lamont walking, "the tunnel of hate" at the Marakana stadium. Two hundred and fifty metres of graffiti is intended to be claustrophobic and intimidating, big Al' just pulled his coat and scarf closer. Game coverage was Big Dick sat in the PQ studio, with Richard Foster, Mark Hately and, Leanne Crichton. Liam McLeod commentated from the studio whilst watching the BT Sport live feed. Apparently, "Rangers have rode their luck"? we all have a view, I do not think any team can progress to the last eight of a European trophy without a bit of luck. Big Dick said it often enough to know it was his comfort blanket and he was clinging on. Anyways, Big Dick ended with, "Rangers have a maximum of fifteen games left in the season if they go all the way in each of the three competitions they are participating in". Okay, we'll keep riding the luck, Big Dick can keep riding Dolly. BBC Scotland's last news bulletin carried a twenty second clip showing all three goals, heavy emphasis on Ryan Kent's, "deflected goal". Their first morning bulletin had Al Lamont post match in the Marakana with the held in Rangers support at his back. Al' told of Ryan Kent's, "deflected goal" and the quarter final draw being held after midday. The lunch time News had Kheredine Idessane standing upon the Hinshelwood Grassy Knoll, he told of the draw, "Braga are the best Rangers could have hoped for, avoiding Barcelona, Lyon and, West Ham". Then, we had a VoxPop filmed outside the Rangers Superstore. Nothing outrageous but why can't Rangers supporters just tell BBC Scotland to fcuk off? Tomorrow, BBC Scotland's Sports Correspondent and Chief Sports writer, Chris and Tom visit Dublin for the Ireland versus Scotland Rugby Six Nations international. It will be scrum down for the Craic, slurping the broth of Bhoys, and, the luck of the Irish. I hope Chris and Tom do not take turns in the unedifying sight of riding Irish luck. Certainly, they'll have a deflected Try.

  25. Wishing on a Red Star. As we have already discussed on this thread, BBC Scotland largely ignored Rangers knocking out Europa League favourites, Borussia Dortmund from the tournament. I do not mind PQ decided our Ladies and Mens Olympic Curlers journeys to winning Gold and Silver medals respectively was deemed more worthy of coverage. I do not mind they decided the Celtic - Bodo Glimp tie in the Europa Conference League was more worthy of live commentary and, I don't mind the machinations at Aberdeen are considered more worthy for the bulk of discussion over the period. All PQ had to do was pay BT Sport the required amount to show the game's goals . They did not. At the start of the season, RAB Cosgrove provided first evidence of BBC Scotland's take on matters Rangers, "ah don't get it, Rangers fans are standing on the side lines, beelin". RAB repeated this line a few times and if you think about it, BBC Scotland were deliberately putting us on the side lines and their reaction was to ignore us and our aspirations. Even Michael Stewart gave up on his weekly 'Trial by Sportscene'; demanding numerous retrospective red cards for Morelos. It could be argued PQ is just reflecting Scots wider society's take on the Club, not one of the SNP's 108 MPs and MSPs support Rangers. Those credentials were flashed again last week when none of the SNP MSPs at Holyrood signed the early day motion offering congratulations to Rangers on their 150th anniversary, including First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon whose constituency includes Ibrox. However, BBC Scotland is contracted by the License Fee to provide a service, even to Rangers supporters. I detect a slight change this week in the wake of the Red Star game. On Thursday night after Midnight, BBC Scotland's last news bulletin carried the Ranger result and having paid BT Sport the necessary fee, showed Rangers three goals with a Kheredine Idessane voiceover. Today, Cosgrove and Cowan mentioned the result at the top of the show, then talked endlessly about last night's Ayrshire Derby. Mention it early, then consign it to the sidelines is the current Immediate Action - coping mechanism. Jum Spence wears his black heart on his Twitter sleeve, he Tweeted 17 times when Dundee United defeated Rangers earlier this season; on Thursday evening he issued one Tweet, "penalty to Rangers". Later, he reinforced this broadcast by claiming, "it succinctly captures events at Ibrox". PQ's journey with the Rangers - Red Star Belgrade tie began with a wishing on a Red Star moment(apologies to Rose Royce). Four days before the game, the headline on the Website was, 'When Red Star beat Rangers on the way to Euro' Glory'. A dozen paragraphs lionising the Red Star team that won the European Cup, particularly since, "they drew and brushed aside Rangers". As the article went on it sharpened, "the Belgrade side routed Rangers on the way to their greatest triumph". The relevance of events 32 years ago were tied into current times with, "BBC Scotland can reveal Red Star are privately pleased to be paired with Rangers". It was the last paragraph before PQ threw in a bit of balance, "nonetheless GVB's men will aim to channel the spirit of 1964 and 2007, two years when Rangers got the better of Red Star". BBC Scotland's various contributors to the numerous shows on Scottish football constantly opine, even bitterly moan about folks missing opportunities to talk up Scottish football. The above preview fails but the real piss on your chips moment arrived during the two and half hour live coverage of the game itself. BIG Dick hosted Richard Foster, Charlie Adam and, Leeanne Chricton. Now, Charlie was enthusiastic but his emotion did not influence Big Dick. After 25 minutes, I tuned in whilst seated in Bar'72. I wanted to find out the reason for the award of our penalty. Rangers are winning two zip and Big Dick is NOT talking up the Scottish game, "we have had twenty five minutes and the ball has been in play for barely sixteen or seventeen minutes, this is not what VAR is for". I was deliriously happy with VAR, everyone around me was in agreement. The fact that PQ cannot be arsed to walk half a mile to the Stadium and participate in the atmosphere of a Scots team achieving a victory that again improves the National co-efficient, is a big part of the problem. Any given Sellik Euro game, we have Big Dick with the Blarney Twins constantly eulogising the green'n'grey hooped heroes, straining to heard over the Stade de Gadd PA banging out the Irish music. VAR had failed Big Dick, lamenting Red Star's offsides constantly but, relief arrived at one minute to ten(four minutes after the game ended) when BBC Scotland's football coverage finished. At half time I tuned in once again and Big Dick did not discuss the first forty-five happenings - two goals, three VAR decisions, a converted penalty, a saved penalty, five minutes added time, ............. etc; the weekend's Scottish Cup fixtures and the Dundee - St Johnstone relegation fight were deemed more important. Could you imagine BBC Scotland doing similar during half time at a Sellik Euro game? On Friday morning, GB's Para-Olympians were front and centre, by Noon the Ayrshire Derby was being previewed but, none of it runs interference on Big Dick's summary before the second half began, "busy first half, Allan McGregor was lucky to get away with a fumble, Ryan Kent's penalty was certainly a controversial one, Red Star also missed a penalty as well as having the ball in the Rangers net twice but not counting, however Rangers are two nil in front and, errrh well errrm that is good for Scottish football" That last line, I am sure as Big Dick uttered it he had his fingers crossed, whilst wishing on his Red Star?

  26. The Tom Tom Club. Oh the anguish! Yesterday, BBC Scotland's Chief Sports Writer, Tom English Tweeted, "The BBC has asked me to delete a tweet I posted at the weekend about Celtic's statement on Shane Warne, as it did not meet Editorial standards". Tom had found Celtic's comment on the death of the Australian international Cricketer to be akin to ambulance chasing. FC Separate Entity saw an opportunity to tie in and reinforce their new found love of all things Australian. They posted a photograph of Shane Warne sporting a training top with Club sponsors, 'Dafabet' - the online gambling company prominently displayed across his chest. Underneath the photo it read, "Everyone at Celtic FC is saddened to hear of the death of Australian Cricket legend, Shane Warne. The thoughts and prayers are with Shane's family at this extremely sad time". Now, as Rangers supporters we know Tom's Twitter account is a personal account and NOT BBC Scotland's responsibility because that is what we are told when we complain about some of his comments on the means. It's the very same with Chris McLaughlin et al. Why has BBC Scotland changed their practice? The Chief Sports Writer's response to Celtic's opportunism was, "Shoehorning in a promotion for the Club's sponsor? This is so crass". Of course, Celtic could have utilised any one of 100,000 stock photographs of Shane Warne in his international pomp. Shane's career spanned 24 years, his international period lasted 15 years, he never wore a Dafabet top whilst playing. Anyways, the Yahoos bombarded Tom with every complaint apart from the usual anti-Irish one. They got on to his employer, BBC Scotland and demanded an apology. Pacific Quay did not do their habitual thing ie Tom's Twitter is a personal account and not our responsibility, no they turned 180 degrees and told Tom to delete the Tweet. Tom became most compliant and did as he was ordered to do, he deleted his Tweet. These last five years, BBC Scotland has justified it's continuing stance on delivering a lesser service to BBC License Fee paying Rangers supporters upon the principle of, 'Journalistic Freedom'. I would have expected a host of senior, experienced Journos at PQ to be publicly pleading with Tom to adhere to those principles of journalistic freedom? Nah, they are all searching the building for Editorial Standards.
