  1. Lawwell's been doing it for years, and before Reid arrived on the scene, as have many journalists etc. The agenda doesn't change because Reid is suddenly doing it. Reid was a self-proclaimed "Glasgow ta1g" and had a "repertoire of Irish Republican songs" long before he was Home Secretary. There is no doubt in my mind that Reid would be doing the same even if he hadn't been Home Secretary.
  2. I think that Murray can't shy away from it just because it's Reid that is the Chairman. He should be dealing with it in the same way as he would with any Chairman, and if he is unable to that then he should be looking to stand down again. The issues of upsetting British Muslims and trying to drive a wedge between Scottish Protestants and RCs are two totally different issues, and I fail to see that his comments are aimed at anything other than Rangers and their supporters and I fail to see how the Government had any influence over his comments. 2+2 doesn't always have to equal 17.
  3. Who do you think should be doing it? Reid as Chairman criticised our support and it should be up to Murray to respond as Chairman. If it's anyone else then it's too lightweight.
  4. 1986? Ally maybe....
  5. Hardly earth shattering stuff. Actually a feeble response to Reid's comments. And I don't believe Murray put any money into the club during NIAR, so the comment about his investment is misleading.
  6. I don't see what he's got. Seems like a waste of money, but I'll be more than happy to be proved wrong.
  7. Craig, good idea in creating a separate thread. I'm guessing that the Auchinleck game was very early 80s. Cammy, no the Bo'ness-Pollok game was a Saturday afternoon, probably in 1979. TBH, yeah Prytz played for Pollok. I went to watch Pollok a lot when I was at school when i wasn't playing for the BB. When the whole Souness revolution kicked off it was funny to see a whole load of people at Ibrox who had previously been at Newlandsfield in previous seasons. One other recollection was going to a game against some Ayrshre team (could have been Beith, not sure, just remember it was full of pubs but that could be anywhere in Ayrshire). Got a lift there from my dad and told him I would get a lift back on the supporters bus, but it was full. I ended up managing to get a lift on the team bus or I would have been stranded, back in the days when there was no mobile phones.
  8. I'm currently reading Soul Crew about the Cardiff casuals. Good read. I'd also agree that the Jon King books are great. I've only heard bad reports about the Rangers book, so doubt I will bother with it. Got to say that I've seen very little presence of the Rangers casuals during the years. I went to most games home and away during the 90s and the only time I can recall seeing them was when we play in Turin against Juve when they were fighting some of our own support. Angelic Upstarts - Last Night another soldier - Wow. Brings back memories. I haven't heard that in over 25 years. I'm sure I've got the single in the house somewhere.
  9. I remember going to a Pollok Bo'ness semi (in Brockville?) and Pollok took 50 buses to it. Bigger crowd there than one of the English premiership (or 1st division back then). I also remember going to a Pollok Auchenleck game which Pollok won (I was probably around 15). After the game I got a run up the road and went into a chippy. An Auchenleck supporters bus drew up at the traffic lights outside. I waved my Pollok scarf to them and about 15 big farmers started running down the bus. I almost sh*t myself. Thankfully the lights changed colour and the bus went away.
  10. Sung that as Wembley back in the mid 70's.
  11. I'd agree with Craig. Hemdani doesn't look any good at centre half. I'd go with McCulloch before him.
  12. So it's OK for the Green Brigade to bring in IRA banners, but if they do something that creates a bit of publicity by walking out then they get ejected. Am I right in saying that the club are DENYING that the ejections are nothing to do with the walk-out and subsequent singing in support of sectarian terrorist organisations? And I am right in saying that the minute's silence was announced as being for the Celtic players who died during the war and not the army in general? (I'm not sure about this) The political/sectarian side at celtic comes as much from the club itself as the supporters (and that's a fact) with the playing of provocative Irish tunes that refer to "rebelling against the crown", the reluctance to flying the Union Flag, the statements by Lawwell and Reid etc. Even its published web address refuses to have "uk" in it.
  13. We ARE owed honest decisions by the officials. Remember McDonald's offside goal against us last season? A decision that could arguably have cost us the league? Same guy. Co-incidence? Hmmm.
  14. It's the way they talk down there......
  15. If you were as old as 26th of Foot, you would know that he is correct. A map of Renfrewshire They have, of course, subdivided it for the purposes of councils, but the old Renfrewshire still exists (particularly in the minds of old people).
  16. We've been trying to get rid of JCD since the end of last season and failed. I don't think he wants to leave so he'll go nowhere. I get the same feeling about Hemdani. Happy to sit back and collect the cash. I also can't see Dailly wanting to move. he has a cushie number here and who would want to buy him? McCulloch - is it true we turned down an offer for him during the summer? Again I can't see him wanting to move. He's just bought a big house here and seems to enjoy the lifestyle. Could he be cover for Weir? I can't see anyone wanting to buy McGregor at the moment. based on last season he was worth £6m+. His performances this season have been nothing other than average SPL goalie standard at best. If teams are currently watching him, we would be lucky to get £2m for him and we won't sell him at that price. As BMcK says, I doubt we will be buying anyone as we have no cash to do it, and I can't see many people being shifted. Frankie's House of Cards sums it up well.
  17. Why does he repeat that lie?
  18. That's the difference though. These decisions go against us but Celtic get them in their favour. Look at Motherwell's disallowwed goal. Smith has been too nice for too long. It has been clear that certain officials have gone out of their way to favour one team but Smith has allowed this to happen with his public "Rangers are above all that" attitutude, and we have suffered as a result.
  19. Don't worry, I charge everyone else.
  20. Go for it, I say. A break-up of the Scottish national team would makke a move to the English Premiership more likely anyway...
  21. So PLG had a better success rate considering he was only here for 6 months? :fish:
  22. So a repeat of last year's final? Excellent.
  23. As Frankie says, your article can be proof-read prior to publishing. I don't mind helping out with that sort of thing. Being pedantic does have its uses at times.
  24. A big shock. All the best, Craig.
  25. The 36th (Ulster) Division was a division of Lord Kitchener's New Army formed in September 1914. It was originally called the Ulster Division. The 36th were one of the few divisions to make significant gains on the first day on the Somme. During the Battle of the Somme the Ulster Division was the only division of X Corps to have achieved its objectives on the opening day of the battle. This came at a heavy price, with the division suffering in two days of fighting, 5,500 officers and men, killed, wounded or missing. War correspondent Philip Gibbs said of the Division, "Their attack was one of the finest displays of human courage in the world." In total nine members of the 36th Division were awarded the Victoria Cross.
