  1. Another piss poor goal to lose, pathetic defending.
  2. There is no point in worrying or trying to convince those who will always be anti. Let's just concentrate on the vast majority of bears who only want what's best for Rangers . Well done by the way.
  3. Celtic have told staff not to use the term old firm according to Gerry McC. "I believe Celtic's decision to cease with 'Old Firm' tag is based on a belief the club brand is bigger on its own. Not a 'newco' stance."
  4. Lionbrand goods now available through premises in Blantyre. Open every Thursday and Friday between 10am and 5pm. See and check sizes before you buy. Football 1st Block 17 South Avenue Blantyre Industrial Estate G72 0XB
  5. He's the guy trying to give Blair a hard time on the first hustings video. Criticises everyone else but it's ok for him to go on to BBC and rubbish club board especially Dave King.
  6. One of the strangest posts I've seen on here regarding Club1872. Tells us who he thinks will be elected and states it will be due to one member one vote!
  7. Got one a few weeks ago, very good quality.
  8. There will always be people who are anti, who go against the tide. Best leave them to it. As far as a "list" doing the rounds or a FF list is concerned I know nothing about that. I made my descisions based on who I knew and whom others I respected knew about, don't see anything wrong with that.

  10. What was it about then?
  11. It's weird, well at least to me that somebody who started a petition to stop Club1872 being formed is now standing to be on its board.
  12. Tweets are accurate, but. Plus this one from Steve Sinclair @Weerthepeople @TheLoudenTavern @rchrdtknsn @ChrisGraham76 @Acemcl not strictly true , questions on cv as well as relating to c1872
  13. 25 years old when he made these statement not 15! Think you are doing him a disservice posting that video:sneaky:
  14. Voting will open at 10am on 22nd Sep and will close at midnight on 29 Sep. Voting will be verified by Supporters Direct (Scotland). Results will be announced by Monday 3rd October. Thereafter there will be a structured handover from The Working Group to the newly elected Board.
  15. Have read all the candidates statements and asked around about those I did not know. Decide to vote for J.Percival, A.Wilson, L.Fawkes, S. Sinclair, C.Houston, W. Cowie & J.Blair. Had a doubt about Blair due to independence from club worry, but he has said he will only be serve for first year. His experience will be useful in first year getting Club1872 up and running hopefully.
  16. No thanks. Much prefer this forum, it's full of Rangers fans.
  17. Cannot understand how any adult would come up with such a suggestion.
  18. All you need to know about Rangers fans' group Club 1872 as they get set for first board elections 17:14, 4 SEP 2016 UPDATED 18:01, 4 SEP 2016 BY ALAN CLARK THE board election process is underway at the supporters' group as candidates put their name forward. That process is namely the board elections for supporters group Club 1872. Most Rangers fans will know all about the organisation, or at least have heard of it, but there will be many who still don't know the ins and outs. With the first board elections happening this month - overseen by Supporters Direct Scotland - 15 have put their names forward to be elected on a seven-strong board to represent the thousands of Rangers fans who are subscribed as members. So what is it? What are they striving to achieve? Why does it matter to the club? Here's all you need to know about Club 1872: What is Club 1872? Club 1872 are a newly-formed body encompassing the Rangers Supporters Trust and Rangers First among many others. Both those groups were share-buying vehicles, with the pair snapping up significant amounts in the run-up to the EGM that finally saw Dave King and co take control of the Ibrox board. Club 1872 already holds more than five per cent of the shares in Rangers, with 10 per cent a short-term goal for the group. As both the RST and Rangers First operated, Club 1872 works by accepting monthly or annual payment from members, which are collected for the use of buying new shares primarily. If a fan is still paying into either RST or Rangers First, they can sign up to Club 1872 without any further payments, and for new members a range of options are available. Much like the Foundation of Hearts and the RST/RF groups before, tailored donation amounts are available - such as £18.72 a month, £10.00 a month or your own amount. The body claims it is independent from Rangers Football Club, but some questions have been raised by supporters online and offline with respect to James Blair, the company secretary at Ibrox, running for a place on the board, as well as Club 1872 signage replacing the Puma advertising hoardings on the Sandy Jardine Stand. What are they aiming to do? A One club, one support, one voice. That's the mantra. The group are interested in buying shares to give supporters a voice and, they hope, a say in the running of things down Edmiston Drive. But the shares appear to be just one part of the overall picture for the group. They hope to appeal to the worldwide supporter base to attract more members than any one fan group could have done in the past, which would boost investment into not only buying shares but for Club 1872 projects These projects, completely at the discretion of members say Club 1872, could be to help with infrastructure at Ibrox or ambitiously, a club museum. It could even mean investment in the playing squad, if the membership so decided. They have taken over the mantle of the RST in terms of issuing statements on matters relating to Rangers as a club and its supporters in particular. The principle of one member, one vote will see elections for the board held every year. Who is standing in the board election Since the amalgamation of the various bodies into Club 1872, a working party has been flying the plane, so to speak. As promised, an election to pick seven board members has begun this month and there are 15 hopefuls who have put their name forward for a seat. There are some well-known names in the hat, including former Labour MP Brian Donohoe and Craig Houston from Sons of Struth. Donohoe was a board member in Rangers First but left in July, citing the group were "operating to the benefit of the club and not the fans", and despite leaving the Club 1872 working party he has thrown himself in contention for a seat on the new board. Houston is well known within the Rangers support for his role in setting up Sons of Struth, who were vocal in attempting to question previous boards at Ibrox and he continues to campaign vigorously against Mike Ashley and Sports Direct for their retail involvement at the club. A fan stands on a Sports Direct banner as he makes his way inside the stadium Rangers legend Richard Gough (left) with Director Paul Murray Alex Wilson, a former requisitioner with current Gers director Paul Murray, is another of the 15 hopefuls. He joined forces with Murray, ex-chairman Malcolm Murray and Scott Murdoch in attempt to overthrow the board at an EGM in 2013 but was unsuccessful. Interestingly another would-be board member, William Cowie, has been endorsed by Rangers star Barrie McKay on Twitter, with defender Rob Kiernan re-tweeting the post to signal his apparent support in addition. Current Rangers company secretary and Rangers First director James Blair is in the running, backed by Gers legend Richard Gough. American journalist Shane Nicholson is vying for a place, with former RST director Joanne Percival being backed by George Letham - a member of the 'Three Bears' consortium that has provided the club with soft loans in the last year or so. Also in contention is Kelly Johnstone, who resigned from RF alongside Donohoe and Peter Ewart earlier in the year. When is the vote and when will we know the results? Voting will begin later this month, on Thursday, September 22 to be exact, and members will find out who will be representing them by Monday, October 3.
  19. Vice-chairman's article in yesterday's Windsor Park match programme Posted : 4th September 2016 at 09:32:41 Linfield Vice-Chairman BILLY KENNEDY looks back over half a century to memorable trips to watch Glasgow Rangers. Dual loyalties are not uncommon in football, even at a senior level, but provided the interests do not compete within the same jurisdiction, it is quite acceptable to be attracted to two different clubs, albeit in different countries. Linfield board colleagues of main admit to being big fans of Chelsea or Manchester United. In my case, I have been a life-long Linfield supporter and Management/Board member at Windsor Park for 43 years, and, like them all, when it comes to priorities there is only one club that I am unequivocally pledged to. However, I do have a genuine and abiding interest in Glasgow Rangers Football Club and this can be traced back 55 years when I first entered the magnificent portals of Ibrox Park after walking along the famous Copeland Road. As the then secretary of the Frontier Linfield supporters' club in Newry, I led a group of like-minded guys from counties Armagh and Down to Glasgow in 1961 to see the Rangers play Motherwell. It was a trip that left a lasting impression and since then I have made countless visits to see the other Blues in my life. In the early 1960s, we travelled over to Glasgow from Belfast on the all-night Burns and Laird ferry, landing at the Broomielaw dock near the city centre and heading to the Ibrox Cafe or the Bellahouston Hotel (now the Swallow) on the Paisley Road West for breakfast. The Glasgow Rangers are a huge club, world-renowned and celebrated in verse and song and in the annals of Scottish history. I still have vivid memories of the 1963 Scottish Cup Final between Rangers and Celtic at Hampden Park which was drawn 1-1 with Rangers going on to win the replay. The Rangers team I can best associate with from that period was: Ritchie, Shearer, Caldow, Davis, McKinnon, Baxter, Henderson, McMillan, Millar, Brand and Wilson. This was a highly talented and stunningly successful Rangers team with 'Slim Jim' Baxter the main lynchpin. John Greig, the highly acclaimed "Greatest-ever Ranger" was then just coming on the scene at Ibrox as a promising young half-back and defensive mainstay. Later, I was to become very friendly with Willie Henderson when we worked together on the George Best testimonial in Belfast in 1987. I also got to know the late Alex Willoughby and Davie Wilson from that era. And, of course, there was Billy Simpson, a Linfield and Rangers legend of the 1950s, a Donegall Road man. My Rangers interest was also complemented by the late Malcolm Brodie, Belfast Telegraph sports editor and a 'Bluenose', who would often reminisce in his broad Glasgow accent about supporting the Rangers while growing up on Clydeside in the 1930s and early 1940s. My visits to Glasgow for Rangers games were not always happy occasions - there was big disappointment in 1969 when Celtic beat the Gers 4-0 in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park, in what was to be Alex Ferguson's last game in a Royal Blue jersey. And, of course, there was the terrible tragedy in January 1971 with the Ibrox Disaster which claimed the lives of 66 supporters. Then, I was still secretary of the Linfield supporters' club in Newry and, in a genuine act of reconciliation at a time when the Ulster Troubles were beginning, colleagues and I got involved with the William Maley Celtic supporters' club in Newry to raise money for the Ibrox victims. We raised £1,500 - a considerable amount at that time, with generous donations lifted in pubs in the nationalist town where traditionally the clientele would not have been sympathetic to Rangers Football Club. It was a quite remarkable initiative, with representatives of both the Linfield and Celtic clubs travelling up to Belfast City Hall to hand the money over to the Lord Mayor for distribution to the Lord Provost of Glasgow. Later, in the early to mid-1990s in my role as a Belfast News Letter journalist, I travelled over to Ibrox Park for one-to-one interviews with Graeme Souness, just after he began the Rangers revolution, and also with his successor Walter Smith, as well as John Greig. Rangers visits to play Linfield at Windsor Park on no fewer than six occasions in the past decade and a half have brought me great pleasure. However, the highlight for my Linfield Board colleagues and I was the occasion our Linfield team was invited to play Rangers at Ibrox Park in April, 2013. This game further bonded the close relationship that exists between our two Clubs and was appropriately categorised as a meeting of the 'Blues Brothers'. Let us today again savour yet another encounter between our two famous clubs. http://www.linfieldfc.com/latestnews...medium=twitter
  20. On what I've witnessed so far I see no evidence that Barton is a marked man, obviously with the exception of the assault in the Killie game.
  21. Johnstone is a buffoon. He gets paid to put his name to various articles that are written for him.
  22. Looks to me from the outside that we have mostly a very good group of candidates to select from. There are obvious no brainers to vote for (IMO) plus a couple not to go near with a barge pole, but all in all a good bunch.
  23. Need to read that agin in morning
  24. Plus be faster at moving and thinking.
