  1. exactly why this is one of the best, balanced (relatively) sensible gers forum around
  2. if barry ferguson is undermining le guens style and causing trouble, then le guen will have done the right thing in making an example with barry. I was just saying that le guen has been a very slow starter and saying that maybe eck did a better job than we thought at the time. nothing about whether barry ferguson should be in the team or not...
  3. and we are further behind a (very poor) celtic side than this time last year, by which time that run had been put to an end. we also made it into the last 16 of europes top competition. I dont want to get rid of PLG - will take us even further back - but it does worry me how he has coped so far. also i reckon eck deserves alot more praise and respect than he received. hindsight... what a thing!
  4. well after his supposed salute to ferguson after scoring (havent seen it personally but was alleged to have held six fingers up in support of barry ferguson or "six" as he was known to some) alot of punters seem to be using this as an excuse to have a go at him. We have been crying out for a replacement for coisty for a long long time. someone to score goals. people saying they dont care what else he does, as long as he scores. well this boy does. not only that, he's a gers fan! now if this celebration was what people are saying it was, after ferguson getting the chop, it was not a smart move. some fans want to see him join ferguson (and be replaced by who?! sebo? ) cos "he's unfit" "lazy" etc he's just back from injury and in 2 games has got 2 goals while being off form, imagine the boy on form?! also this could be a potential wake up call for him, and he could improve even more as an all-round player... basically, i wonder what the fans on here think about this, rather than the (addictive) rash, repetitive and extreme comments you find on FF... My idol as a kid was Super Ally, and i used to pretend to be him on the playground at school. I think Boyd did the same, only he has a chance to be the modern-day McCoist. I hope he's given the chance to fill coisty's golden boots! (won 2 seasons on the trot)
  5. dont think he is a bluenose, but your right about the other stuff! would be extremely unfair if he gets caught in the crossfire of this messy internal war!
  6. im not a big fan of follow follow for a few reasons, but it is good for some stories, and this one basically alludes to things like barry isnt the only one who questioned the new regime (prso and boyd), but seems to be the main trouble causer (or thats what im reading out of it) also talks about a story that i would describe as "sensational" to borrow a radio scotland phrase about rino gattuso being a direct replacement! apparently this guy known as "kinning park teddy bear" who writes in one of the fanzines is pretty spot on with alot of his stories (and hinted this kinda thing would happen a week ago) and was also right about other stories like the boumsong deal... if u can read it, its worth it, if not, i dont blame u!
  7. that thread on follow follow is a good read! although frustrating that its suggesting things have been said and done that the fans have not been made aware of. saying that, its not a great idea to share all your inner secrets for the rest of the world to see. was raging when story first broke, but calmed down, thought alot more about all aspects and will be waiting for the story to unfold... in my opinion, the jury is still out on both parties involved, as neither's record has been perfect and each has done some rather questionable things...
  8. also thought the media were pushing the plg vs boyd "rift" as well... and there was a distinct lack of the quote from boyd that said something to the effect of I'm a rangers fan, and i'm here for life if im good enough and keep banging the goals in! its very difficult to avoid what the papers say sadly i dont think it helps that le guen has a very different style of dealing with the media than previous managers, which almost makes it easier to do this sort of thing.
  9. you know what our mhedia are like tho...
  10. glad to see people not trying to blame it all on boydy. People say he's lazy. he is! but has he needed the time that sebo has needed to get goals? no he's scored from day 1. play boyd with a partner up front, with 4-4-2 and guys like sionko crossing it in for him, and baz slotting it thru for him... can only see him scoring goals! Have a look how many times tonight we didnt have anyone in the box! thats where boyd lives and does his damage. Hopefully we'll stick to the same style as we deployed against hibs against c*lt*c and will show that it was change in style/formation that caused the good performance and NOT the lack of boyd!
  11. was definately a good read, and hopefully they will mean what they say. but i cant help but look at this quote and think "who at the SPL/SFA would stand up for us at the 11th hour to stop us getting points deducted..." obviously talking about the feynoord riots... which is infinitely worse than anything we'v done in the past, but i fear, as has happened many times throughout our history, we could be the guinea pigs...
  12. not a bad shout mate! its laughable! just like on scotsport tonight... asked about the critisism poor wee neily has been getting the 'pundit' and i use the term loosely starts with "if you compare it to when rangers players were critisised for not caring enough..." etc - the question was about two team mates squaring up to each other and whether THAT, done in full view of the media/public should be critisised(and it was a bit meatier than the drogba vs lehmann effort!) not anything about rangers. its funny how often they can turn a discussion to have a sly dig at rangers. again like suggesting we only got a good result cos hibs were poor. hibs were bad cos we were too good, unlike arguably the previous home game when kilmarnock didnt give us much of a game at all.
  13. i would be sad to see a nippy winger like burke go, as he is what you want to see when u watch the football, someone who is going to run at and beat players. I dont really think its too big a surprise that burke gets so many injuries, as he is so good and dangerous to the opposition, he gets about 3 or 4 heavy challenges a game!! if someone is getting halfed that often is it any wonder he gets injured?! but i agree that its too early to make judgement until we get to see the full picture...
  14. so to get back on topic, should the hundreds (maybe even thousands) of fans that do smoke at half time be fined or arrested? or is there some other solution (as i dont think whether you are a smoker or a non-smoker should affect you supporting rangers!)
  15. absolutely disgusting. firstly the thought that someone would threaten a family like that - regardless of who they are related to and what that relation has done/believes. secondly that a paper would report the story in such a mannor, clearly villifying (sp) rangers fans and supporting the notion that rangers are fundementally a sectarian club. which is completely wrong. again, why is it the fans on the internet pick up on this and try and respond to such bias, yet the club sit back and take it?
  16. i think laudrup was highlighting that the well established experienced players were scottish. like goram, gough etc who could help both the youngsters and the foreigners settle in. but those players frankie has listed are all young scottish players (which i do not think is a bad thing!) with the exception of ferguson. so maybe laudrup does have a point... maybe he doesnt... one thing is for sure, somethings going wrong somewhere!
  17. i never watched scotsport, but i find it hard to believe when discussing celtics problem, he brings up a line that has been in follow follow as far back as i know! and there have never been any complaints! is it sectarian to follow rangers to a place (or is it sectarian to follow rangers as they'd have us believe?!) surely they should bring up things about how its disgusting that other teams sing about being "up to their knees in <insert name for rivals here> blood" or aberdeen praising a horrific tackle or singing gleefully about a tragic accident in which many bears lost their lives?! no. I thought we had a new team in place to deal with issues such as this now?! will anything be done to stand up for rangers and their genuine loyal football supporting fans?!
  18. never heard of passive smoking?! i wouldnt want to grass up other fans for smoking (as i said at the start) but maybe there is something the club could do to provide a smoking area? even if it has to be outside the ground, it could be possible couldnt it? maybe something someone like the trust could take issue with? as surely the club could get into trouble for this problem too??
  19. Now I realise there have been a few issues being discussed that divided fans - but i would like to think what other people think of this issue, and what we can constructively do to suit all parties! Smoking is now against the law in public areas. but the last 3 times or so i have been to the toilet at half-time i have come out stinking like id just spent the whole night down the pub! obviously im a non-smoker. Smoking in the toilets does bother me. but i would never want to grass up another fan. yesterday i saw someone getting taken away by the police, and as soon as the copper had gone, everyone got their cigg's out!! surely there could be some way that fans can get access to a smoking area outside the ground? something fenced off... I dont know how many here have been to pittodrie, but an area like that at the back of the stand, but still secured so no1 can jump in! am I the only one that thinks something should be done about this?!
  20. im very much against the 'subway loyal' myself. I do appreciate that people have reasons for leaving early, and leaving at 85 minutes saves someone alot longer than 5 minutes if there is something you have to get to! but a supporters bus forcing you to leave early? should we now sing "we shall fight till 80 odd minutes on the clock - or whenever i want cos this is pish" or should it be "till the day is done"?! you've also got to remember that it disrupts the fans who want to stay to the end, with people having to get up and blocking views. I think more fans should take heed of what henry and boyd said. our job is to support the team - not disrupt them!
  21. just about every digit in the league table is a slap in the face. its disgusting.
  22. he's definately not the best footballer in the world. but he'll do what nacho novo did since coming back into the team in italy. give 110% and do a job. unlike the over-paid under-performing gutless shitebags we have currently transforming our great club into a mid-table side. I'd think big marv would have sorted this weakness we have for crosses into the box
  23. not good enough? that doesnt even cover it. we just lost to the team that was BOTTOM of the league. Why dont we kill teams off? why cant we defend high balls? and le guen thinks he can work with the players we already have? uv got to be joking mate. it is sad to see rangers transformed into a mid-table club that everyone can beat now. no1 has any respect for us anymore and know that if you rough it up you will always have a chance for the points. disgusting domestic campaign.
  24. really?! anything up on youtube or anything?
  25. cheers for all the help last night! unfortunately it didnt work out in the end, cos my dad couldnt get on the net and there was no sign of bbc scotland on telewest! but kept him updated via phone, and the overall outcome was the same. Happy dad
