The fact that he has been so heavily punished and the Motherwell mob, for that is what they were, got off practically scot free can be put down only to the teams they play for.

I think the Motherwell fans are simply magnificent. Not only did they sit on their hands and keep quiet to police and stewards about this group of Rangers fans sitting in their midst during what has been described as the most important game in their club's history, but even after this group of rowdy huns had disgraced themselves by throwing a flare, the 'Well fans continued to remain silent and gathered round their bluenosed enemy, protecting them from being lifted by the long arm of the law. But then, if this wasn't admirable enough, once the game had finished these very same exemplars of sportsmanship ran over en masse to commiserate with the Rangers fans and to applaud them warmly and with sporting affection and to wish us a speedy return to the top flight. Good on the Record for bringing these wonderful deeds to light.

That's got to be my favourite Rangers strip ever. Just beautiful.

What Celtic are doing, and doing exceptionally well it has to be said, is identifying top quality prospects from all over the place, buying them for peanuts and moving them on for a handsome sum as soon as they can. They are now every bit as much a selling/feeder club as Dundee Utd or Hibs. That is their future; downsizing and bargain basement shopping.

Once upon a time Guidetti was the calibre of player who would jump at the chance to play for celtic. No longer. Now they are being reduced to signing second rate Scottish players and third rate foreigners, because nobody else will want to go there. Missing us much, lhads?

Does anyone know how long a warranty lasts on a Samsung TV? I got one about a year ago and it was working fine until yesterday, when it looked like there were hundreds of Motherwell fans on the pitch. There's no mention of any such thing in today's press, so I reckon the horizontal hold must be broken on my TV and I'm wondering if that's still covered by the warranty.

I'm pretty much in this camp, too. I think McCall has proven himself as an excellent manager and if the board decide to give him the job then I'll support him. Having said that, I'm hoping that King pulls a blinder and we find ourselves on the brink of another Souness style revolution with a visionary appointment to match. McCall is a class act as a person; he has style, class and dignity, he's proved that he can get cash-strapped clubs to punch above their weight for extended periods. That may be where we are and what we need right now. Pragmatically, maybe McCall is the answer.

His record at Motherwell. For where we are and for what we need over the next two seasons, I'd say he's qualified.

A failure at Motherwell? His record was 'best of the rest' for three straight seasons outperforming much bigger and wealthier teams, with a club which had no money, during which time he put together a team, the nucleus of which has just given us a 6-1 spanking. I'll admit I don't always agree with his lineups, but then I didn't get us to the play-off final; he did.

get a grip, ffs, man. How can you call McCall a management failure? He inherited a shambles of a team in freefall, and took us to a playoff final. Give him a year with his own players, who play the way he wants them to play and if we don't walk the league next season, then call him a failure.

Arsenal : the last of the Old School clubs. Villa are just a waste of space and time. A nothing club, from nowhere which never does anything.

That's an outrageous statement to make. McCall recognised that he had run out of the energy required to manage that team properly and had the dignity and professionalism to resign his position to allow someone else to take over, for the good of the team and the club. The fact that the board screwed up an appointed Barraclough is a different matter. Far from giving up "when the going got tough" or "the tide was against him", McCall had the honesty, humility and character to recognise that the job was one that he was no longer the best man for and he fell on his sword accordingly. A man with those qualities will always do for me as manager of Rangers.
