Woo Hoo. Old Firm.

Good to have someone who knows what they are talking about to work there way through the numbers for fans like myself.

Intelligent wee peice from an intelligent man. Look at the peice by the Celtic trust representative and decide who you would want representing your club.

Lol, worryingly I am tempted.

I should be after the Barca job then as Rijkaard's coat is on a shoogly peg.

Went into work to specifically request the Thursday off. However today I met a sports scientist who works with Falkirk's academy and the only sessions I can make due to uni committments will be Thursday nights 7-9. Going to start some work with Falkirk, mostly shadowing the Strength and Conditioing coaches there, but there will be some paid work; performance testing for academy players and the first team and perhaps filling in for training seassions when regular coaches can't attend. It's good experience and an opportunity to make contacts in football:D , but why did it have to be Thursday nights.

It's a start, even if it the full parity we are looking for has not been achieved. Just suprised he mentioned anything at all as he's entrenched himself so firmly in the pro Celtic camp.
-
Perhaps. Still don't buy into that though. In general Strikers or flair/attacking midfielders cost more than defensive players admittedly. However Hutton's value was highly inflated for a RB and I just don't see how he is possibly valued so highly. Media have taken leave of their senses imo.
-
We knew parity and equality was never the agenda for the anti-sectarianism drive. Excellent article and hopefully some in the media may pick up the baton. :fish: Interestingly when picking up a weekend paper at work (I know, I know, but we get them all in my bar) I noted McNee of all people getting stuck into Celtic fans about their offensive behaviour.

In Hutton's back pocket for the last 4/5 OF games. Including at the start of PLG's tenure when Hutton was supposedly rank rotten. So how is he worth even half what Hutton went for, never mind more?

Sebo Officially Comments On Where He'll Play Next Year

Thirded. Some times you don't need half a season to see that a guy has very few footballing attributes. Good athlete, terrible footballer. -
Panathinaikos 1 : 1 Rangers - Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Super_Ally replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Normally agree with you, but why Dailly is included in MOTM poll os baffling to me Frankie. A late sub whose first tackle was fantastic, but then proceeded to give numerous freekicks away in dangerous positions with schoolboy-esque errors. McGregor's contribution was far superior and he is not included in the list? Went for Cuellar of those left. Think Boyd should get much mroe credit. If Sebo/Cousin/Darche had played liek he did last night with the entire midfield posted missing they would be getting roundly praised with the lack of service highlighted. Those who say Boyd is poor in the air. Do they actually watch football. Not only does he get up to win the punted highballs, rather than only managing to flick the ball on straight behind him in the direction it was already travelling, but he'll twist and play it into space. Don't see many other forwards doing thsi for us. The problem though, is that the two wide players and any advanced midfielders don't get up to support him and posession is wasted. Early on he comitted a few clumsy fouls as he was eager to impress. But as he settled his contribution improved even if the support he was given did not. ALso haven't read the match thread, nor seen it in any report in the paper, but his movement in teh build up to the goal was superb. Dropped deep just out of teh box to receive the ball and lay it back to Fergie who pushed it out to Burke for the cross. Any criticism of Boyd's overall contribution last night shows a lack of insight of formation and the pattern of play last night. Any forward bar possibly Drogba would have struggled to have any great impact last night. The other 9 outfield players behind the forward were almost completely inept in attacking play. -
But it's the best XI or at least very close to it from the players in our squad.
-
Right now they wouldn't. Merely because Weir has being performing well enough overall and so has whoever has filled in at LB. However with the quality these two have I would be lookig to get them some time in first team games. If they play to the levels they did pre-injury they would soon be first choices to strengthen the defence playing beside Cuellar and Whittaker imo. I merely left them out becuase they are untried in a long time.

As I said in another thread, massive parallels in teh short term thinking of the board and now of teh coaching staff. The short term gain (highly debatable, imo just plain wrong) of playing Cousin ahead of the potential long term gain of giving a player who will be here next season match time, sharpness, fitness and the extra experience gained of playing decent European opposition in what is still a very strong tournament. Seems many don't truly want long term thinking from the club. Cousin should be better than Boyd in terms of his all round play. However when you actually watch hsi contribution it just doesn't stack up. Look at his crap 5 yard pass that should've gone straight to a team mate unde no pressure. He then took a huff, an extravagant french shrug and hands on hips. Imagine the outcry if Boyd/Adam had done that. The supposed beenfit in the short term of playing Cousin, ahead of Boyd/Naismith/etc, is negligible. Imo it doesn't exist but soem seem to think he puts in fantastic performances. However as I say, even if there is some slight short term advantage to be gained by playing him, the negatives far outweigh playing him. Hope his transfer goes through soon and I never have to hear his name again tbh. Most overrated player on our books by some distance.

Any that includes Boyd, would be nice to start finishing chances. It's not too difficult really. 4-4-2 Keeper - Easy McGregor RB - Broadfoot, with Whittaker pushing him when fit again. CB's - Weir + Cuellar LB - Papac, maybe Broadfoot/Whittaker when SW is fit. RM - Burke CM - Fergie CM - Thomson when fit. Would try Davis til then as Hemdnai has had very few good games recently. Certainly more poor than good. LM - McCulloch CF - Boyd CF - Naismith With personnel changes to suit tactics. Particularly in the wide midfield areas.

I thought Johnny was referring to his shots in the Pana match in which one was a fresh air swipe and the rest were on target if too near the keeper.
-
Quite probably true to a certain extent, might quibble over the percentage, but it's not improtant. Not the point I was trying to make.
-
My first point was not solely in relation to his transfer, but in terms of the negative impact it has on other memebers of the squad who will be here for the duration. The ngetive impact on their attitude, their development a mssed opportunity for experience etc etc. If we're going to berate the boardroom staff for short term thinking then I think it's fair game to accuse the management of the same.
-
Picking Cousin to play was short-termism of the kind most fans berate Murray for. Is Walter guilty of just the same. Also why Cousin is so highly regarded when he's played approximately two good games is baffling. I can see he has the attributes that should make him a quality player, but if rarely actually produces, what's the point?
-
Would've been my choice. But I knew that would never happen and knew teh kind of game we'd have to watch last night.
-
Agree with yourself and Ian here. But I think that is now the outdated way of supporting your team unfortunately.

Striker Boyd standing at crossroads in Rangers career
Super_Ally replied to Jon's topic in Rangers Chat
I stated this in my preview as I think it would be devastating. Will never be given a run though. -
Got to agree. It's funny you mentioining scouting as that had no part in his signing. We were only aware of him through playing his former club. Needs sorting out at Rangers.

Agree with Johnny K. He plays, he scores. As Johnny said, goals win games.
