  1. Here is a player who we shouldnt have sold in the first place. He has been playing consistantly well for the last 2 seasons even though he is 33/34 and id welcome him back in the summer even on a years contract.
  2. Rangers manager Walter Smith hopes to set up a player exchange programme with David Beckham's future employers, Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy. The Glasgow side will face Galaxy in a friendly in the USA on 23 May. And Smith told the Scottish Daily Express: "We will be holding talks with a view to setting up an exchange scheme that can help develop players. "With Beckham already signed, they will attract the cream of American kids who want to play alongside a superstar." Former England midfielder Beckham will join the Californian outfit in a five-year deal worth a reported £128m once he leaves Real Madrid in the summer. "When I was Scotland manager, I spoke to then USA coach Bruce Arena at Hampden and he felt the best-ever crop of American players was just about to break through," said Smith. "A club like Rangers can't afford to ignore such a vast pool of talent and I can't think of a better club over there to have close ties with than LA Galaxy. "We would be prepared to have their players and coaches at Murray Park for a few months at a time and vice versa. "I don't foresee any problems and it's something I'm very keen on. "There are no regulatory issues with younger players coming over and, while you need a work permit for those you want to sign at professional level, you oten find American lads have European links and even have passports for EC countries." LA Galaxy general manager Alexi Lalas feels exchange schemes can help his club grow. "If there was a chance for players to move between Glasgow and the US, for example, it could be beneficial for both clubs," said the former USA defender "Establishing connections is important for us and Rangers come into that. "For us, it is a chance to tap into their history and expertise."
  3. Its one of those typical, standard interviews from a fed-up player or more likely his agent. Maybe he will be for the off after all to boost the transfer kitty? That might make sense with Weir being first choice and us having a few candidates who could come in alongside him. Besides, if Webster is going to cost us £500,000 or so, we could pay for him from Svensson's fee and have money to spare. Taken from the Daily R*cord:
  4. So Broadfoot and Gow will arrive and Celtic done us another favour by taking McDonald away from us. They did the same with Hartley. I was one who kinda wanted Hartley but he has been poor since going there and its dawned on me he cant cut playing for a bigger team. Anyway, Kevin Thomson hasnt had a great start, Andy Webster hasnt kicked a ball, Davie Weir has been a good signing as has Ehiogu IMO, despite a bad game. But id like to see Webster sign up permanently, with Weir and Ehiogu being there for all of next season. With Papac being impressive of late, Broadfoots arrival and IF Webster signs then we can afford to let Svensson go but im equally happy if he sticks around. So all that our defence is pretty much ready next season bar cover for Alan Hutton. Gary Naysmith could also be a potential target and then we could let Ian Murray go. In between the sticks, we need a big signing or a back up keeper for McGregor - something Walter will need to think about over the near future. In midfield Sionko, Rae and Buffel will all probably depart but id rather see Buffel stay. Buffel and Sionko have talent which they dont use. An interesting debate on here the other day saw a few posters thinking it wouldnt be a bad thing if Ferguson moved on. Im one who wouldnt be upset if we cashed in on him. There is a chance he is at the route of some of the problems at the club as he feels immune to critisism or being dropped. We need a left sided midfielder to replace the inconsistant Charlie Adam with Lee McCulloch or James McFadden being my choices. Scott Brown will probably join and thats a boost for the right side of midfield. Upfront we are being linked with Healy, Koevermans and Balaban amoungst a few others. It will all depend if Sebo and Novo join Prso on the way out. Gow can also play upfront.
  5. and read and digest the lyrics - by changing America to Rangers, the song could have been written to describe the dire state of our club at the moment : New America - Bad Religion do you know the cost of future misery? have you lost your sense of sustainability? we are just a step away from realizing what we strive to be but we've got to break out from this insulated blind and lame senility wake up the new america wo-oh! transcend the mass hysteria wo-oh! change is the thing you're wary of wo-oh! we need a new america wo-oh! laurels, human triumph, bestowments from the past victories don't mean a thing if they don't last we are just marching toward extinction with blinders on our eyes jeopardizing everything we've learned and come to realize you call that wise? open your eyes america wo-oh! see through the lies they tell to us wo-oh! confront the fears that worry us wo-oh! we need a new america wo-oh! we don't have to be afraid to re-invent we've got to start to build, progress, and implement for when we take our fill, and never pay the price we only build ourselves a fleeting, false paradise you can live in staunch denial and mark me as your enemy but I'm just a voice among the throng who want a brighter destiny they say with me we are the new america wo-oh! this is the new america? wo-oh ------------------------------------------ Cammy F
  6. Started the season very well and scored a few but since then has turned into a dumping so I might do a brake dance if he leaves.
  7. Liverpool midfielder Boudewijn Zenden admits his future is up in the air, amid reports of a return to PSV Eindhoven. The Dutchman's contract expires at the end of the season and he has been linked with a move back to his first club. He could line up against PSV on Tuesday, as Liverpool face the Dutch champions in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final. But regarding a potential return to Philips Stadion, Zenden concedes he is currently unsure what will happen in the summer. "I'm 30 and I feel I've got a lot of years to go," Zenden told The Independent on Sunday. "I feel fit, I feel good. "I'm aware they (PSV) wanted to get more Dutch players in their squad with a certain level as well. "I haven't spoken to anybody. "It's nice to hear, but it's something you leave at that. "My contract is up in the summer and we haven't discussed yet what will happen. "I'm open to everything. But I'm a professional who wants to win things." A player i would like to see at Ibrox
  8. Celtic fans never really toke to him and will be glad to see the back of him
  9. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=96&Itemid=1 http://www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,5~1004155,00.html RANGERS' supporters groups today announced the launch of a major 'self-policing' initiative in a continued effort to eradicate sectarian behaviour. The groups, with the full agreement of the Club, intend to immediately undertake a range of self-policing measures in an attempt to isolate and shame so-called 'fans' who are 'bringing the Club into serious disrepute'. It was agreed last night that Supporters' groups will self police at domestic away matches until the end of the season and will then meet the Club to review the behaviour at these away games. If there is unsatisfactory behaviour at domestic away matches then the suspension of ticket allocations for away games in Europe will be considered jointly. Rangers and the supporters' groups have been engaged in positive and productive talks since the UEFA Cup match against Osasuna in Pamplona on March 14. Following their latest meeting this week, Rangers Chairman Sir David Murray, Chief Executive Martin Bain, the Board of the Club and supporters' organisations agreed the following joint statement: "The match in Pamplona turned out to be a watershed for the Club and supporters. At that game, Rangers encountered the poorest safety and security arrangements for a match for many years which gave the Club deep concern for the welfare of supporters there to enjoy the game. "The poor arrangements led to questionable policing and shambolic segregation that was clearly visible to all attending the game and those watching on TV. "This Club knows better than most the tragic consequences that can result at football matches and we believe the arrangements in Osasuna were a recipe for disaster. We continue to pursue this matter with UEFA in the strongest terms. "We accept there were a small number of so-called Rangers fans who let themselves and the Club down during this match and we condemn them out of hand. That said, much of the distress and injury suffered by many supporters could have been prevented. "Quite rightly, clubs in the UK have to adhere to the strictest safety regulations and it is disappointing to see this is not the case in countries which are regarded as advanced footballing nations. "We are grateful for the support of the First Minister, MPs and MSPs who have expressed their concern at events on the night and have agreed to raise the matter through appropriate channels. "Regrettably, we also witnessed sectarian singing at the Pamplona match by some of our fans and we are united in our condemnation of this. It is deeply disappointing since we have achieved so much on sectarian behaviour, particularly at Ibrox this season. "We all agree that we still have some way to go on this issue and we are very grateful to the fans who have embraced the Club's Pride Over Prejudice policies. "We are agreed that the strongest possible action should be taken by the Club and supporters against people who continue to indulge in sectarian behaviour. This kind of behaviour will simply result in a doomsday scenario for the Club and the vast majority of fans. "Since Pamplona, we have held exhaustive and constructive talks on finding the best way forward. It is clear to everyone that the future of fan behaviour lies in the fans' own hands and real improvement in fan behaviour will work best through self-policing. "This, of course, will be done in addition to the stringent policing and stewarding measures already enforced by the Club and the police. "The issue of ticket allocations for away matches has been discussed at length. Although this sends out a strong message to those who let the Club down, it was agreed that, in general, it is not the people who use Rangers ticket allocations who cause the most problems. "However, we will review this position again at the end of this season. We remain deeply concerned at Clubs willingly selling tickets to fans at away matches in Europe on the day of the game. fans in osasuna"This is a matter we will be raising again with UEFA and with clubs Rangers may play in Europe next season. We do not want Rangers fans to travel to away European matches without officially endorsed tickets. "There is complete unity between the supporters groups and the Club. We agree there are people who refuse to come on board with our anti-sectarian campaign who are bringing the Club's reputation to the brink of ruin. "The supporters have pledged to do everything in their power to isolate and shame these people. It is time for everyone to move on. They cannot and will not be allowed to spoil the enjoyment and pride so many take from being part of the Rangers family. "Our message to them is clear - come on board and show pride in yourselves and your Club. Remember what being a real Rangers supporter is all about. It is about setting standards that should be the envy of clubs around the world. "Collectively we will also work together to devise a code of conduct for Rangers supporters which we hope to develop into a fans' charter. "This work will go on over the next few weeks. We intend to present this to UEFA who may wish to use it as a guide for good practice, as they have done with the work we have done on racism. "This has been a difficult time for Rangers over the past few weeks but we feel now we can go forward together. "There is a renewed determination to eradicate sectarianism and the supporters have an opportunity to demonstrate that this great club - whose pedigree is respected throughout Europe - has a great support that does the Club proud." The measures to be undertaken include: > Supporters groups to issue anti-sectarian guidance to all supporters clubs > Anti-sectarian messages to be featured on all possible websites including Follow Follow fanzine > Supporters groups and the club to urge fans not to travel to away matches without officially endorsed tickets > The Club will undertake a major review of the Rangers Travel Club operations > Supporters to inform fans on songs and chants that 'do Rangers proud' > Code of conduct to be produced by supporters for supporters > Players to deliver anti-sectarian messages to supporters' clubs "Supporters' representatives and the Club agreed at the start of the season a list of songs in the Wee Blue Book and we would urge fans to focus on these at all matches." Signatories: Jim Templeton, President,The Rangers Supporters Assembly Jackie Robertson, Secretary, The Rangers Supporters Assembly Alex Milree, Scottish Delegate, The Rangers Worldwide Alliance Roddie Maclean, Scottish Delegate, The Rangers Worldwide Alliance Ryan McNamee, Scottish Delegate, The Rangers Worldwide Alliance Mark Dingwall, The Rangers Supporters Trust Jim Kirk, The Rangers Supporters Association Sir David Murray, Chairman, Rangers Football Club Martin Bain, Chief Executive, Rangers Football Club
  10. http://www.gersnetonline.net/newsite/index.php That time is here again. The letters will soon be through the door and RFC are asking for your hard-earned cash – often more than £400 in many cases. Are you automatically reaching for your bank account details? Is it money well spent or could it be considered emotional blackmail? Whatever you think wait a few minutes before getting your wallet out – read on! The end of this season will now see 2 years of no success – not one trophy! The product on offer has been depressing and if it wasn’t for a decent CL run last season and an interesting UEFA Cup run this term, we’d have no positives to talk about. I think it’s fair to say that at the beginning of the season we were all pretty happy. Attracting and installing Paul Le Guen as our new manager must have been no easy task. He was one of the youngest and brightest managers in world football and we all thought David Murray had secured a gem. We were back and nothing would stop us was the cry! How wrong could we have been? Investment into the playing side was minimal because of more pay offs and no CL football. However, even with the money PLG did get it appears to have been wasted on players that have offered little or no improvement on previous personnel. It all soon went downhill and I don’t think we need reminding about how bad it was. As such, in a marked difference from last season, SDM acted quickly and removed PLG immediately. ‘Back to the Future’ was the theme as Walter Smith returned along with Ally McCoist who would surely help dressing room differences. As a short-term solution it seems to have worked to a degree. Decent SPL form and a much-needed away win against Celtic means the feel-good factor is returning slightly. It remains to be seen if it’s the right medium-long term appointment and our quick Euro exit showed Smith et al have a lot of hard work ahead of them. In addition, we still don’t have our problems to seek off the pitch. The UEFA charge of early 2006 has hung over us and we have all been criticised in the media every other day since. At that time, Murray’s statement condemning sectarianism and bigotry was appropriate and the responsibility certainly lies with us all in eradicating the offensive content from our support. It is a challenge but one that we must overcome. The continued witch-hunt by various parties (independent, anonymous or not) shows that the matter won’t be laid to rest so we have to act soonest. I do wonder though at the club’s reluctance to combat the media on these issues. Too often now we seem impotent when it comes to their ever more frequent diatribes. Journalists such as the odious Graham Spiers, Gerry McNee and Hugh Keevins seem able to say what they want without fear of reprisal from the chairman or the club. Others have jumped on this bandwagon while other clubs seem to do what they want with minimal coverage. Why is the press coverage so seemingly one-sided? Criticism of our club and its fans goes with the territory. It’s is often valid and we should neither deflect nor deny the problems we face. However, at the same time we cannot allow our enemies to blacken our name by sensationalising a terrible issue. We cannot afford to give people like the above carte blanche to say what they like about the fans and our club. With new SPL rules on the horizon the danger has never been clearer and we have to be ready for further attacks. David Murray, as our club’s custodian and our ultimate ‘leader’, should answer on our behalf. Yet the only people I see standing up for our fellow fans are voluntary fans’ groups. Surely if someone like Murray or even Martin Bain did what Peter Lawwell of Celtic seems to be doing very successfully, these attacks wouldn’t be so frequent or so over the top? The last 2 years have been awful but there are signs that we can rally. However, unless the club start defending the fans, the Rangers family might not be as happy or together as it should be. David Murray and the board are the head of the family and they must start leading from the front. Once again, I implore the club to act in the good name of Rangers FC. There is a battle going on out there and we desperately need a General. Is David Murray that man? Where has he been lately? As such, I would ask every Rangers fan reading this to not blindly fill out that renewal form. Have a think what you want from your club. Do the arrival of Walter Smith and some more new players satisfy your ambitions? As well as the primary media issue, what about the other problems we have? Dangerous European away trips; hindrance of invaluable singing sections; over-the-top policing and stewarding; a confusing and forever changing Youth system; poor match-day facilities; questionable scouting policies and minimal appreciation of the club’s history. These are all negative issues which should concern every one of us. Are you still ready to sign that form? I know you will. I know I will. After all we are amongst the most loyal fans in the game and supporting a club such as Rangers isn’t always done logically. But, fellow Rangers fan, why not do what I’m going to do: accompany your renewal with a letter or with a simple piece of paper if you prefer. On it use the following words to show that you’re a customer who doesn’t appreciate being victimised in the media and who will not blindly accept second best year after year. This simple message will suffice: David Murray – Show some leadership and defend our club.
  11. RANGERS are believed to be keeping tabs on Poland striker Grzegorz Rasiak, of Southampton. The 6ft 3in, 28-year-old has bagged 19 goals this season in Saints' push to get back into the Premiership. Gers No.3 Kenny McDowall went to look at Rasiak in Saturday's 1-0 win over Ipswich, but the former Derby County and Spurs man was an unused sub. Rasiak was signed from White Hart Lane last May in a £2m deal after failing to make an impact in London. advertisement But the 35-times capped Poland frontman, who was a team-mate of Celtic duo Maciej Zurawski and Artur Boruc at the World Cup last year, has shone since his transfer to Southampton. Gers boss Walter Smith is keeping his options open on the striking front with Dado Prso's future still unclear. But he knows he needs to add firepower to a front line that has relied solely on the Kris Boyd's goals this season. I suppose we will be linked with many players in the next few months.

    Poty

The votes for player of the season for leagues goes in around now (crazy IMO as there is months left) but looking towards our team, who would be in contention for Gers POTY 06/07? Barry Ferguson has been superb of late but still had the odd off day this season. He started poorly and had a wee blip over xmas, but the last few weeks has been MOTM on every occassion. Young Steven Smith may be in with a shout, he was consistent in the first 5 months and shows he has a potential future. Kris Boyd - Has a mass of critics (including myself) due to being the worst footballer at the club (Bar Gavin Rae ) but he knows how to score and once again has bagged in a hat load this season. He has a lot of fans also, but if it was up to me he wouldnt be a contender. Brehaim Hemdani - Has strolled through every match this season and barely put a foot wrong and played in a few postions. Gets my vote to this point Any others??
  13. At a time where our club is at its lowest 'eb' and facing its biggest crisis, on and off the field in over 2 decades, is it a sign of the times that a debate about Kris Boyd can generate more responses, energy, debate, than any we have had on the future of our club? IMO, this is where the problem lies, the sheer apathy towards our DIRE situation amongst the majority of our fans. And the blind refusal to identify where the problem lies. Cammy F
  14. Can anybody try and reassure me of the future of Rangers FC, i'm pissed right now and i'm feeling down, maybe i just need a hard kick up the arse, but can anybody tell me.............................................where are we going ?, what lies ahead for us ?, will we get back to dominating Scottish football ?, can we catch the scum ................?
  15. The rules: This thread is for false Murray promises, as a point of reference for any future debate on the matter. Only direct quotes should be included - any paraphrasing will be deleted as it must have some integrity as a resource. Try to number them so we can refer to "Murray thread - point 6" or whatever, but its not essential as I'll keep it tidy. If anyone disagrees that one of these is a false promise start a new thread to discuss it. disputed points will be in red =============================================== 1. "when we make the changes, and if people are not happy, then protest all you want" - Evening Times - Darrell King 10/02/06 2. 16. Its obvious we're never going to sign the cream of the EPL but i was having a think at some of the types of players id like to see us go for. Christian Dailly - Not the best defender in the world but would certainly shout about our back 4 and give his all. Mathew Etherington - Was superb in West Hams promotion season 2 years back and started last season well but he been unlucky with a few niggles. I think when fit he could do a fine job for us in the left. Claus Jensen - Similar to Quashie but after we lost out to him Jensen could do a job for us. He has experience, is a good passer/tackler and props up with the odd goal. Massimo Maccarone (sp) - Under rated at Boro and badly treated but when he comes on he seems to score. With Dado retiring, Novo prob leaving and Sebo's future in doubt this is the type player who could be a good signing. Alan Smith - Prob a dream but would still like to see us enquire about a loan. Robbie Fowler - Again prob a dream but isnt playing much for Liverpool and i think he'd come to us in a minute. Would score for fun in the SPL
  17. Seems we are in for another Hibs youngster. I was wondering if it would not be cheaper for Murray to buy the whole club,it may be cheaper buying in Bulk than player for player. On a serious note it would seem we have Murray Park. Hibs have the talent to fill it. What are our Scouts Doing? Many of the Scottish youngsters that are making it big at other clubs, are discarded by Rangers at youth level. Who makes these decisions? Have they the vision to spot a talent? This is not only a thing of these times it is throughout our history. Kenny Dalgliesh was also deemed not good enough for us Maybe time to look into our assesment of young players and get someone in with the vision to spot these talents.
  18. Not to discuss the quality of them all, but what kind of future do you think these guys will have now? I have to say despite his problems, i still see Svennson turning it around and coming good, but he does need somone who knows the Scottish game in that back four beside him Letizi can go tomorrow, i will drive him home myself Sionko is another one who i would try to get shot of ..... just hasn't done anything for us Clement im 50/50 over ... since PLG is his biggest fan, i wonder how long he will want to hang around, but despite some good performances at times, he has totally lacked the consistency, and i felt Hemdani played his role better before being moved to defence Sebo ..... well, i'm actually 50/50 over this one too!!! (believe it or not!!) I would still like to see what would happen if he got a goal or two, although i'm not prepared to wait till 2020 to see that! Some of the other fringe players he bought might find themselves still out in the cold too So, views ..... what future for these guys?
  19. Ok Murray has quite fairly taken a lot of criticism but thinking about our managerial hirings and "firings" it really does seem he listens to the fans. When GS left SDM tried to keep him, and insisted it was the biggest mistake of his life. The fans were also sorry to see him go and wanted him to say. He appointed WS as manager which although wasn't the most exciting thing for the fans, it had continuity and after he won the treble and did well in Europe the fans were happy. He got rid of WS when the fans weren't happy about Euro results despite being on very good term with him. We were spoiled with domestic success and gave WS a lot of criticism and most thought it was a good time for him to move on especially as the team was stagnating and WS looked a bit jaded with the job. He then brought us the big name that we craved, DA, who looked like he could do well in Europe and the difference was night and day in that arena although we always looked like we just needed a couple more quality players to actually do something. That's what we craved and that's what SDM provided but unfortunately it was from borrowed money and he didn't keep a good eye on the finances. DA was very successful to start but the more he didn't quite make it the more desperate he got before losing the dressing room. After a barren season and things looking bleak we started to want rid of DA and lo and behold he was punted upstairs by SDM and replaced with what many fans wanted: A promising Scottish manager who knew all about Rangers. We really wanted a bigger name but we didn't realise the extend of the debt but he is still liked by many fans. He was SDA's third manager to be instantly successful and the third manager to completely peter out and give us a barren season. We became so dire that there was a clamour to replace him from the fans and although SDM backed him, to be fair it was only because he had already lined up his replacement but had to wait on him. PLG was another dream ticket for the Rangers fans who lapped it up again, another masterstroke. The fact it didn't work out is more down to PLG than SDM and you can't blame the chairman for that choice. But the fans reacted again and so did Murray, this time immediately and now he's bringing in his 5th dream ticket in a row. We all respect WS and believe he's improved as he's shown with Scotland and we love AMC and would like to see him as a future Rangers manager. We again want a Scottish influence who are Rangers men and we've got it. So you can't fault SDM for getting rid when the fans wanted it and bringing in very popular choices. It looks like the fans do have power after all, or maybe DM is actually a bit of a fan too, or perhaps he just thinks the same as us, or alternatively he wants to be seen as some kind of hero but spoils it all with his bullshit, bad chairmanship in other ways like not allowing fan representation on the board, and many other faults.

-----------------------------Macgregor Hutton----------Webster--------------Murray------------Smith Burke------------Brown--------------Ferguson------------Adam/Thomson -------------------------Boyd-----------------Gow Is this possible for the start of next season? All Scots. I would like to see this. Augmented with the odd exceptional overseas player. At least Scottish players would have a better understanding of what it takes to play in Scotland.

  22. KRIS BOYD could hand Rangers a festive filip by returning to the Ibrox strike-force sooner than expected. The prolific striker damaged his ankle in the 1-0 defeat at Falkirk on December 3 after a dreadful tackle from defender Kenny Milne. A scan showed ligament damage and the diagnosis from the Ibrox medical team was that Boyd would be out until the New Year, with the third round Scottish Cup tie at Dunfermline on January 7 his likely target. But Boyd has been getting intensive treatment at Murray Park after missing the matches against Hibs, Partizan Belgrade and Celtic. continued... And, while he will be guided by the Rangers medical staff's expertise on when he should return, the 23-year-old could be back before the year is out. That would be a massive boost for boss Paul Le Guen, with his team facing a testing schedule of four games in 10 days, starting with Saturday's high noon showdown at Aberdeen. Asked if he could be back sooner than expected, Boyd said: "I'm getting treatment all the time and we'll see what happens. I have to wait and see what the physio say in terms of timescale. I have to go with them. "Obviously it's very frustrating to be out injured and missing big games, but we'll see what the week brings." Boyd knew immediately that he was in bother when Milne clattered into him from behind at the Falkirk Stadium. He tried to play on, but quickly succumbed to the pain as he tried to run, and when he left the stadium on crutches after the final whistle it was clear there was a problem. But the former Killie hitman is a quick healer. He admitted: "I tried to get up and play on after the tackle came in, but I couldn't put any weight on it. "Of course it's a blow. But it's part and parcel of the game and every player goes through injuries and has to cope. "It's the downside of the game for a player, but you must look to work hard and get back to the good side, which is playing, as quickly as possible. "I've been fairly fortunate with injuries. Since coming to Rangers the only time I've been out was for the first game of the season at Motherwell which was due to suspension. "So sitting in the stand for big games like Hibs, the Uefa Cup match and Celtic has been frustrating. But you need to get on with it." Boyd, who has scored 30 goals in 32 starts since arriving from Rugby Park almost a year ago, no doubt kicked every ball at the weekend as Rangers fluffed decent chances against Celtic in the Old Firm clash that finished 1-1. There are no certainties in this game. But the Ibrox legions, who have tried to back and inspire £1.8million signing Filip Sebo all season as he goes through a lean time, would definitely have preferred Boyd to be one-on-one with Arthur Boruc in injury time rather than the Slovak, who drove his effort straight at the Pole. Whether Boyd would have made the difference on Sunday is up for debate, but he would have loved to be out there looking for his first goal against Celtic. As it was, his team-mates at least put up a show packed with pride and desire which, on another day, may well have carried them to the victory they wanted so badly. "We know it has been a disappointing season, but the last few performances have been good and we need to look to the future," said the Scotland man, who has bagged 11 goals in Light Blue this term. "It's about carrying on and trying to string together wins. We have to focus on the league with the Uefa Cup issue to one side now." Many theories have been offered on what's gone wrong at Rangers in the first half of the season under Le Guen. So much was expected of the former Lyon manager, but the league table makes painful reading with just nine wins at the 19- game halfway stage. There was also the terrible CIS Insurance Cup exit to St Johnstone which further damaged the confidence. "It's easy to say this and that about what's happened," says Boyd. "But we seemed to have been winning two and three games in a row and then dropping points at places like Falkirk, which just shouldn't happen with all respect. "But it has, and now we need to look forward. It's so important for us to try and keep the confidence growing and that does come through winning matches. "The more good results we get the better the team will come on and we must keep fighting in the SPL. It's going to be hard to close such a big gap but no-one will give up." Publication date 20/12/06

Occasionally it talks about football and usually it's someone saying how the Thims are going to win the champions' league. The " paper " now tries to put us in a negative light by printing stories by former players bad mouthing the Club. The point I'm making is that they have an agenda promoting the name of Septic in any shape or form making them a " global Brand " This imprints their name on everyone who sees the paper whether they are football fans or not making them think that there is only one team in Scotland worth mentioning. Do we have a PR department ? I'm not saying we should lower ourselves to this level but there must be many positive stories coming out of Ibrox which can be promoted keeping our name in the news. So, Mr. Murray, C'MON.
  24. Ok,look at derbies around the world and then look at the players that have crossed over. Forget the micky mouse derbies im talking about Roma/Lazio,Boca/River,Inter/AC,Barca/Real,Gala/Fenerbache and of course the OF. With the speculation of Elvis maybe going to them it made me think that this is starting to become a trend of the modern day footballer. And i dont like it. Now we all know Judas Miller jumped to Torbett Towers ( not that i give a shit about him ) but if Elvis also went then for me it would be taking the piss just a bit too much. He came through our ranks and learnt his trade and professionalism from Goughie and others. I presume he's a Rangers boy but im not sure. Ok we sold him but we also gave him his start and full backing and this is something he shouldnt forget. Now you could argue that Mo Jo did exactly the same to them to come to us but i've never said that was right. Yes it was great cause it was 2 fingers up at them but now the shoe is firmly on the other foot. I could maybe understand it if it was Jonny foreigner but these guys ar SCOTTISH and have grown up Knowing the traditions of each club. What im trying to say is that very few players these days are loyal or have any hint of it. They are loyal to themselves and they're bank balance. At the end of the day i dont care about Miller and i dont care too much if Elvis signs for them but id welcome him to Ibrox. I'm thinking of the future, imagine the outrage if one of our young hotpropertys left us for them? Christ just recently the gutter press were linking Burkey with a move to that scum in the east end. WTF? Sure of course its the press stiring things but surely these stories shouldnt even be thinkable? Nelson Vivas was a Boca player for many a year and he eventually signed for River where he retired after just a month because of the abuse and death threats. A similar thing happend recently when a player left Galatasaray to go directly to Fenerbache. No suprise he didnt last long and he'd left club and country saying he couldnt handle the abuse. And of course we all know what happend to MJ. The great divide is the great divide for a reason, you shouldnt cross because it's just too dangerous. And if you do cross then prepare for the wrath of the fans you've just screwed. Think about it Elvis, is it really worth it??? People this ones an interesting debate so lets hear it.
  25. http://www.worldstadiums.com Quite a good website. Wembley looks awesome despite it not being open yet. Also City of Manchester Stadium looks good from the outside. You can also click on future stadiums, I didnt realise Charlton were away to convert The Valley to a 40,000 seater. Lansdowne Rd is also going to look different.
