  1. http://www.scribd.com/doc/201292857/One-year-ago Published by RangersTransparency One year ago Mr McCoist had the chance to lead by example. Subject: Ally Date: Fri, 28 Dec 2012 23:52:06 +0000 From: Brian Stockbridge To: Ian Hart, Walter Smith, Malcolm Murray, Phil Cartmell, Bryan Smart CC: Charles A Green, Imran Ahmad Gentlemen The Board is being asked by Ally and his agent to approve an increase in his salary to the original level of £750k per annum. Whilst some of you may be aware of the background discussions that have taken place with Ally over his remuneration, some of you may not be so I set out the detail below: Originally Ally had an employment contract paying £750k per annum. In consideration for working with the Club during the difficult early stages and as a condition of supporting Charles, it was necessary for Charles to agree with Ally that Ally would have the same option package as Charles Charles, after discussion with Malcolm, agreed to reduce his own salary by half to £360k per annum. Ally agreed to reduce his salary from £750k to £600k per annum. At the time of the IPO, it became apparent that public disclosure of Ally's salary may be necessary in the Prospectus. Ally was concerned at how the fans would react to his salary level and I understand that he wanted to reduce it further to around £200k but with some sort of guaranteed bonus to make it back up. The Executive did not accept this as it was considered misleading and the disclosure made in the prospectus was for the actual amounts paid to Ally from June to August. The Executive agreed to explore every avenue to avoid having to disclose Ally's current contract and, after lengthy discussion with the Executive and its advisers, the UKLA accepted that no disclosure needed to be made about the level of Ally's ongoing salary. The Executive has recently been contacted by Ally's agent requesting an increase in Ally's salary from £600k back to the original £750k from now but with arrears of £62.5k to be paid in the January payroll (this represents the 5 months backdated pay). The Board is asked to consider and, if appropriate, approve the reinstatement of Ally's salary at £750k per annum and the payment of £62.5k of arrears. If this is approved then Ally's original contract will become in force. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. If this is real then I can see Ally quitting or being sacked.
  2. Here's an interesting article about Uefa's financial fair play regulations by Stefan Szymanski http://www.soccernomics-agency.com/?p=527 He thinks that it will lead to a closed system like the N.F.L. where big clubs are protected from competition and owners can actually make a profit. I've been aware of, and opposed to, these regulations for a while but the following quote surprised me: Interested to read what the rest of you think of it all.
  3. After watching the Middlesborough "ex old firm" interview yesterday on Sky before the game and as a fan of Kris Boyd when he was here, you wonder if he's thinking what the hell have i done. I'll admit - i did not want Kenny Miller back at Rangers when he joined - but im pleased to say i was wrong. Boyd - 3 goals in 13 games, Miller - 13 goals in 9 games. Gers, top of the league, and doing well in Europe Middlesborough, lost the ginger minger and about to relegate themselves if they hire Mowbray. Sorry Boydy - but no sympathy for you, leaving the Rangers to join a 2nd rate team with a 3rd rate manager.
  4. About to start, should be a decent game, mon wee burkey get intae Chesney
  5. I see Celtic beat Porto away in a friendly the other day, yes with another last gasp goal on the 88th minute. Well done to them, they beat a reasonable team away. Pity they can't do it in the champions league. Although they played a 4-5-1 formation, surely this is anti football or is it different as it's Celtic and it's the best type of football the world has ever seen. Then they think that win was the greatest thing since sliced bread, it was payback for Seville, we are the better team etc, funny though how it's only pre-season and it's about getting fitness up etc, that was your excuse on your defeats to Fulham, Cardiff and draw against Middlesborough. When we defeated Chelsea last year, it was it was only a friendly, Chelsea weren't trying, never had a full team out ( even though they did ) The tims work things the way round how they would like to hear it
  6. Can 'our man in Holland' shed any light on this Sparta Rotterdam player whom Middlesborough are apparently interested in? Thing is, he's a winger and if he is a right winger, could he do a job for us? Can't think Boro will want him as a left winger because they've got Downing. The fee is not too high - £2.5 million.
  7. Stevie Smith underwent another operation in Germany last week and Walter Smith says it was a success and could be back to full training in a month. Nacho Novo has a shoulder injury, picked up in the closed door friendly against Middlesborough, and could be out for for a couple of weeks. Andy Webster went through a simple clean up operation on his knee and should be back training next month.
  8. Noticed little bit in the Mail on Sunday that Gareth Southgate is keen to take Daniel Cousin to Middlesborough in a £1.5 million deal in January. Report claims it could be a done deal already, with Cousin being disillusioned at not getting a regular first team place. Hope it's not true, the big man has impressed me when asked to play the lone striker role. Malky
  9. Sweet as you like.... I have to go to London in March for an audit committee meeting, our auditors (KPMG) are making a presentation and they have informed me that they have 4 tickets for the Arsenal vs Middlesborough game at the Emirates on March 15. Wasn't expecting to get to go to the meeting but to get to the Arsenal game too is a very very pleasant and unexpected bonus. Also saves me paying my way back home for the out-laws 50th birthday. A good day today me thinks, unless the bassas renege !!
  10. Man Utd to beat middlesborough Tottenham to beat Chelsea
  11. 0-4!!!! Chelsea must've been piss poor against Boro last week. Portsmouth have made a fantastic start to this season. They beat Man City 3-0 on the opening day of the season and won 4-0 tonight.
  12. What was missing last season? Like most people, I was frustrated by McLeish - I wanted to say he was a poor manager, but he did get the results. There was just something missing, though - and that something, hard as it was to articulate, seemed simply to be that we didn't enjoy the way Rangers played - even when they won. So what was missing? Passing and moving. One touch passes. Movement off the ball. All variations on the same thing. Watching us play Middlesborough the other day, I began to see Rangers players playing football. It wasn't magnificent, but it was an infinitude better than all the football we played last season. At the end of the game I felt as if I had watched something worthwhile. The La Guen revolution is as much a revolution of football philosophy as it is a changing of personell - and I, for one, am looking forward to seeing not only a winning, but a passing and moving side next season - I think that is the best way to get the most from good football players.
