WS has said that Kevin Thomson will start in central midfield on sunday. Take Hemdani will make way or will Walter be changing the system??? Can't rememeber who exactly, but an ex player (a tim I think) was in the ET a while back, slagging the OF about there contribution to the national side. But he phrased it in such a way to make us come off worse, even though we were actually starting more scots in our team (I.e use of phrases such as Brits in terms of the Gers, but then waxing lyrical about Celts Scots in their squad). So I thought it would be worth pointing out that Thomson captained and Hutton, Adam and (soon to be Ger) Gow played, for the B's. McGregor would've been in goal but for injury. Fergie (national captain) Murray, Boyd and Burke have made recent full squads, with 3 of the 4 certain to be regular members. Then there's the fact that 8 of the 11 in the victory shield, a home nations tournament for a youth age group (u16's I think) are Gers. When we're not contributing highly to the squads we are rightly pilloried. Are we now getting recognition for our positive involvements in the squads?

ALAN HUTTON has been called up by Scotland for tomorrow's B international against Finland and could go straight into the team. Alan HuttonThe young full-back arrived at Scotland's training headquarters today after being drafted by Bobby Williamson and Alex Smith for the tune-up match. Hutton was brought in when Steven Whittaker of Hibs and Christophe Berra of Hearts had to call off. It is now likely that he could go straight into the side in the right back berth with team mates Kevin Thomson and Charlie Adam also in line for a slot at Rugby Park Allan McGregor was due to play in goal, but had to withdraw as a result of a groin injury. The Rangers medical team believe he will recover for Sunday's SPL match against Kilmarnock. Hopefully this will be a confidence booster for him and get him playing as in his debut year.

Now compare this to the first squad. Talk about just giving everyone a number and saying Odds in the A squad and Evens in the B squad but McGregor your in both!! Who the hell is Broadfoot, Greer, McEveley???

I was hoping this would happen as I think Brown could be the missing link in our midfield. We need someone with his energy and drive, hopefully this will make us favourites to sign him in the summer. Clicky

With Klos leaving, we'll need another goalie unless we give the impressive Lee Robinson a chance as deputy. In midfield, Hemdani might move on but I think he'd get on well alongside Thomson or playing just in front of the back 4 enabling Ferguson to get forward. Brown and McCulloch could be signed for a combined �£3-3.5million and both of them would make good buys for deeper, wider roles while supporting Boyd as the poacher. With Klos, Prso and Buffel all set to move on that will free up money for wages so that way we'll be able to afford the 3 or 4 players we need. In saying that guys like Burke, Adam, Murray, Novo and Svensson et al might still be able to provide adequate back-up for a better quality first XI. I just hope we have a 2nd place finish and CL football to help fund any transfer fees. We can ill-afford to finish 4rd again. That would be a disaster. RANGERS latest signing Kevin Thomson was given a 23 minute run-out in tonight's 3-0 win over Airdrie United at the Excelsior Stadium. Kevin Thomson The 22-year-old midfielder recieved a rapturous applause when he came off the bench to replace Alan Hutton in the second-half and he put in an impressive display in his short spell on the pitch. Walter Smith's team dominated the majority of the match and two first-half goals meant the Gers players could enjoy the second and give five substitutes a taste of the action. Davie Weir, one of Rangers best players on the night, opened the scoring with his first goal for the club on 21 minutes. Charlie Adam played a wicked free-kick into the penalty box from the left wing and the defender glaced the ball superbly beyond Airdrie keeper Stephen Robertson. There was not a lot of great football played in the opening 45 minutes but Chris Burke's strike to double his side's advantage was worth the admission fee alone. The winger, playing on the left, cut inside his marker before firing a terrific shot from 25 yards which flew into the roof of the net. Ally McCoist and Kenny McDowall were in charge of the team in the absence of manager Walter Smith, and they decided to take Weir and Svensson off at the interval and replace them Weir celebrates goal against Airdrie with Ugo Ehiogu and Sasa Papac. Thomas Buffel then came off the bench prior to the hour mark before Thomson was given the biggest cheer of the night when he was introduced to the game. Rangers retained possossion impressively in the second-half and the Rangers fans were out of their seats again with eight minutes remaining when Filip Sebo fired home a third, much to the delight of the travelling Gers support. Burke fed the ball to the Slovakian striker and he cut inside before firing a low right-foot shot through a ruck of players. The relief of his face after he finally found the net again said it all and it capped a good nights work for the Gers. During the summer, Rino Gattuso made contact with David Murray (thro Walter Smith) and indicated that due to his family circumstances (his wife wants their kid(s) educated in Scotland), he wanted to return home. Look at the team who are the players who will fight for the team Mcgregor, Smith, Ferguson, Prso, Adam, Novo 4 out of those 6 or scottish I think it's about time we had more scottish/british players in our team instead of some european diddys that can't cut it in Scotland I have in mind like Naismith, Brown , Thomson , Anderson, Healy etc Yes we can have a few forigners but not many. If you look at past succesful Rangers teams they have had mostly Scottish/British based players in the team. Think we should get back to basics with having mostly scottish/british with some people from europe or from else where. Thoughts ?

A couple of papers are today saying that we're going to get in early with a bid for the pair of young Hibs players. PLG is keen on landing them both, but as are a fair few of other clubs including Celtic. Whilst I'd love this story to be true and I don't actually doubt it for a second, how the hell are we going to be able to afford them????

Just back from this game and it is a TRAVESTY that the sheep got a draw !! Hibs al over them and then the sheep go up the pitch ad take the lead - by this time Hibs should already have been up 2-0. Hibs would have been good for a victory but somhow the sheep held out. Aberden were very poor and I will be very surprised if they finish above Hibs in the league. Has to be said that the standard by both teams was pretty poor - Hibs were playing nice stuff until they lost the goal nd then reverted to long ball tuff too often. I was looking forward to seeing Thompson and Scott Brown but have to admit that was more impressed by Michael Stewart (not as technically gifted as Thomson but that lad puts in a HUGE amount of work !!). The lad Benji up front looked useful too until he had to gooff injured after half an hour. And Stuart Dougal as a ref is PISH !!!
