    scott brown again

ive been reading all the stuff about scott brown signing for them.my take on it,is that it looks like all the eggs in one basket syndrome.rangers wanted him yes,but at a cost of around 10 million with wages no thanks.seems to me we could strengthen the entire team with that kind of dough.celtic seem to be obsessed with gazumping rangers,at any cost and seem to be throwing money about like confetti.whether its an act of folly remains to be seen, but wee strapon has hardly been prudent in the transfer market, and i would say other areas of his team need major surgery.if walter can add a few more faces of experience, and the youths coming through we should be in decent shape imo.making the right choices will be the key to the season.anyone can spend money, spending it properly shows how good a manager you are.cmon watty bring it on:box:
  2. Like he said he would of liked to get Brown but he cost far too much and we can get a few players for that type of money
  3. For our second Gersnet Interview, weââ?¬â?¢re delighted to welcome Rangers Supporters Trust media spokesman, David Edgar to the chair. David joined the Trust board 3 years ago and has done a fantastic job in his position. From radio and TV interviews to verbal jousts with broadsheet journalists, many Rangers fans will be more than aware of his combative ââ?¬â?? yet accurate and honest ââ?¬â?? style. Anyway enough of the compliments and onto the questions! David, obviously youââ?¬â?¢re heavily involved in supportersââ?¬â?¢ representation. Just how important do you think an independent organisation such as the Trust is for the fans? Itââ?¬â?¢s a vital organisation because as football grows more and more corporate, the fans are treated more like customers and their views are not taken into account the way they should be. Indeed, one of the main reasons for the RSTââ?¬â?¢s rapid growth has been the feeling of disconnection the fans have from the club. We aim to have two seats on the board of Rangers because we know then that supportersââ?¬â?¢ views would be represented in a clear, determined and erudite fashion. What would you say has been the most important Trust contribution since it was founded? It would be difficult for me to pinpoint that ââ?¬â?? it is like asking a parent to name their favourite child! Obviously, as someone on the media team Iââ?¬â?¢m proud that weââ?¬â?¢ve helped attack the negative, often vitriolic coverage of the club and the support. Iââ?¬â?¢m proud that weââ?¬â?¢ve represented our membersââ?¬â?¢ concerns direct to the Chairman and Iââ?¬â?¢m proud that the Board listen to us (which is not to say they always agree with us!) Iââ?¬â?¢m also proud that we are so heavily involved as our support modernise. Overall Iââ?¬â?¢m happy that the RST is a place where Gers fans can unite in their love of a wonderful institution. Some fans would suggest that itââ?¬â?¢s impossible for a support to own and run a football club. How would you counter that? Barcelona seem to do okay! I think there is a misconception that if the RST gained control of the board, weââ?¬â?¢d all give up our jobs and take cushy positions at the club! We arenââ?¬â?¢t naÃ?¯ve ââ?¬â?? I donââ?¬â?¢t know how to run a business with a turnover of Ã?£60m and I wouldnââ?¬â?¢t even attempt to. We would have in place qualified personnel from both the business and football community and charge them with the day-to-day running of the club. The board would be made up of elected officials who would have to answer to the members. If they did a bad job, theyââ?¬â?¢d be out! The main difference is that every fan would have a vote in the overall direction of the club. Many Rangers supporters continue to be annoyed with what they feel is a media witch-hunt towards our club. If this is the case, how would you recommend we deal with it? Well, the stock answer is to say ââ?¬Ë?do not buy/read/listenââ?¬â?¢ to that which offends you. But Iââ?¬â?¢m afraid that turning the other cheek is what brought us to this position in the first place. My suggestion has always been direct action. Write to the journalist, write to the editor, and stop your friends from buying these products. Let them know you are not prepared to put up with it. Itââ?¬â?¢s a lot better than it was in 2002/2003 when halfwit journalists were allowed to espouse their own bigotry under the cover of crusading against sectarianism. (I vividly recall a drunk who worked for a broadsheet newspaper at the time having the gall to lecture Rangers fans on morality!) Itââ?¬â?¢s still a hard fight ahead, but I believe that these constant attacks against us ââ?¬â?? especially the more hysterical ones (Nuremburg, anyone?) ââ?¬â?? have brought us closer together as a support and helped re-establish the community element of the support. Itââ?¬â?¢s blatantly obvious that we are treated differently from the other half of the Old Firm, but I like the fact that our support donââ?¬â?¢t just sit and moan about it, they get in the ribs of the people behind it. Recently, the Trust has been working with other fansââ?¬â?¢ groups to show unity in how we approach certain issues. How important is such teamwork? Vital. Many groups, one consistent message Thereââ?¬â?¢s plenty of room for debate on how we go forward, but the one constant is clear ââ?¬â?? we all love the Rangers and we all want to help shield it from things which could damage it. Onto less political matters now. Domestic success in recent years has been minimal for our great club. Do you think Walter Smith can turn this around and regain the title? I certainly do. Walter is a better manager now than he was when he left, and his organisational skills and ability to motivate players have been evident since his return. If you are my age, Ally McCoist is your hero, so it is terrific to see him back at the club. Itââ?¬â?¢s also great to see guys in charge who have blue blood running through their veins. As I said earlier, there is a gap between the players and the fans at ALL clubs in modern football ââ?¬â?? itââ?¬â?¢s hard for us to see a guy going through the motions when his wage packet is bigger in a week than ours is in a year AND when weââ?¬â?¢d gladly play for the club for free! Walter and Ally wear their hearts on their sleeves and that resonates with the support. However, whilst both these guys are clearly very talented, they canââ?¬â?¢t work miracles; the Chairman MUST give them adequate resources to bring in the level of player required to gain success, not just domestically, but in Europe too (where Walterââ?¬â?¢s record in his first spell was patchy.) Weââ?¬â?¢ve messed around in the bargain basement Bosman bucket for too long now. What are your thoughts on the unsuccessful PLG era? These things happen. He is clearly an intelligent coach, but he looked at the end like he didnââ?¬â?¢t know what had hit him. The SPL is a strange wee league ââ?¬â?? good players have flopped here then done well in what youââ?¬â?¢d say were superior leagues. I think he felt it would be easier than it was and in the end, he simply didnââ?¬â?¢t want to be here. He made some very poor signings and some equally bad decisions, but he did some good things too ââ?¬â??I donââ?¬â?¢t think Charlie Adam would have had such a good season if PLG hadnââ?¬â?¢t been here. Do we need a large transfer budget to ensure we donââ?¬â?¢t fail again this year? How much do you think we can afford to spend? Weââ?¬â?¢ve got to spend Ã?£8-10m minimum. That shouldnââ?¬â?¢t be out of the budget of a club our size, and if it is, we should be looking at the financial management of the club and asking questions.
  4. Just blatantly stolen from a couple of online papers.... Apparently WS is keen on Everton's keeper Richard Wright who is available on a free in the summer and will have him watched over the next while in the reserve matches. Scott Brown remains a priority and we're still interested in Scott MacDonald as well.
  5. Going to be a bit controversial here and throw big Marks name into the summer transfer mix. I know he used to play for that lot but he never struck me as someone who'd let something like that stop him from joining us. Top class forward who holds the ball up well, scores goals and would be the perfect foil for Boyd and who best of all is available as a Bosman. Wages would be an issue as I assume he would be on at least £40K a week at Middlesbourgh and with most of the Premiership after him i'm sure that figure will be higher soon. But with Prso and Klos off the wage bill perhaps we could just stretch to it. Thoughts?? Malky
  6. Great great striker in his day and one of the EPLs better finishers over the years with some great goals for Leeds and Chelsea. Im sure a few will mention that we could move in for him but id say Jimmy is finished. He could probably still do a job in the SPL coz he is physical but I cant see it.
  7. http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=38478 Quite a long quote i know, but i think the point Ally's trying to get across is the fact that although we pumped them over the weekend, there's no way we can rest on our laurels and think "job well done - we got 2nd place" Spot on IMO. Need to get over what happened last weekend, and start rebuilding. Get some of the youth players some time on the park, start touting the duds in and about the transfer market and try and consolidate the rangers mentality of SECOND IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH within the squad.

    Webster's Transfer

I understood this was to be announced this week (or was it even last week?), by the ever efficient UEFA...anyone heard anything?
  9. Whilst we were dominating Scottish Football in the early 90ââ?¬â?¢s, Rangers were ââ?¬Ë?richerââ?¬â?¢ than clubs like Manchester United and after our fantastic European adventure in 93, we were better placed to win the European Cup than teams like Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. It can be argued that those ââ?¬Ë?bigââ?¬â?¢ English clubs were still adjusting to life in the ââ?¬Ë?newââ?¬â?¢ English Premiership and life back on the European stage after years of exile. However, we defeated the English Champions home and away on the way to the inaugural Champions League group stages and were only denied a place in the final by the corrupt French Champions. So what happened to this fantastic opportunity? Well SKY TV arrived and financed the EPL, UEFA changed the goal-post regarding the CL and the 3 foreigner rule, and IMO David Murray allowed Walter Smith to stay on as Rangers manager for too long and the team that drank together, stagnated together. After securing 9-in-a-row Walter Smith decided that he would leave Rangers the following season and if we are honest, it was torture watching that aging team limp towards what would have been a historic 10-in-a-row, Now the nostalgic and romantics amongst us would argue that that team/squad deserved the chance to etch themselves into history. However, after a season that started fantastically (who can forget the moody Italian Marco Negri scoring with almost every touch he had ââ?¬â?? well, it seemed that way, then weââ?¬â?¢d watch him sulk back to the half-way line!). I know that hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you have to ask why SDM allowed Walter Smith to continue even after he had handed in his notice. Looking back to Graeme Souness, as soon as Souness indicated that he would be leaving for Liverpool, SDM showed him the door and booked him a taxi to the airport. So, why did Walter Smith not get the same treatment? Would a change of manager after securing 9-in-a-row ensured that we would have continued our domestic dominance and recharge our European challenge as this had faded since the halcyon days on 92/93? Weââ?¬â?¢ll never know, but Iââ?¬â?¢m sure a change of manager would have seen a change in fortunes as the season draw to a close. Walter Smith, rightly or wrongly chose to stick with the mainstay of the 9-in-a-row team who were clearly running on empty. We actually had 2 chances to win the league that year and blew them both (losing at home to Motherwell and away to Aberdeen) after defeating Craptic twice in a week in the Scottish Cup and League. We were famously to lose the league and both domestic cups that season but perversely, that season was to give me the possibly the proudest moment in my Rangers supporting life. As we stood at Tannidice, the deposed Champions and the 10-in-a-row dream in tatters, knowing that the manager and majority of players would be leaving, we reacted ââ?¬Ë?the Rangers wayââ?¬â?¢. The fans stood to a man (woman and child) and sang of their love for Rangers and applauded the players/manager from the pitch. Rangers, dignified in victory and defeat. Now it is worth reminding ourselves that at this stage in our history, we were still financially sound ââ?¬â?? and that our bitterest (sic) of rivals were still recovering from being on the brink or extinction. We were, in all honesty, going into the 10-in-a-row season, 10-15 years ahead of them off and on the pitch - all that was about to change. IMO, this is SDMââ?¬â?¢s greatest crime, allowing such a change in such a short space of time. SDM must have known that our debt was about to spiral out of control and should have put measures in place to ensure that we stayed ahead of the game. To his eternal shame, he didnââ?¬â?¢t and all our current ills can be traced back to this point in our history. SDM appeared to have pulled of a mater-stroke by appointing Dick Advocaat as our new manager. DA signed a whole host of exciting players like Amato, Gio, Numan and erm, Bert Konterman! After a shacky start and a thumping at the hands of Craptic, DAââ?¬â?¢s team gelled and played some wonderful football that saw his reclaim OUR title and win a glorious treble. Plenty other domestic success came or way along with some very credible performances and results on the European stage. Everything in the garden appeared rosy, oh how we were mistaken. DA started to lose the plot and Craptic under a new regime (on and off the pitch) stole our thunder and DA had to fall on his sword. He was replaced by Alex McLeish, an appointment that had a lot or Rangers fans shaking their heads in disappointment. To AMââ?¬â?¢s credit, he managed to match Crapticââ?¬â?¢s 2nd most successful manager on the trophy count (including a treble) whilst having to sell our better players, reduce the wage bill and replace them with inferior quality. Any money we made was put to servicing the debt whilst our financially sound neighbours had money to invest in their team. However, we were offered a ââ?¬Ë?chink of lightââ?¬â?¢. Martin Oââ?¬â?¢Neill was leaving Craptic and leaving them in a min-crisis. We had snatched the league title from under their noses for a 2nd time and their aging squad was to be dissembled. This was an opportunity for us to strengthen from a position of being the champions, but again SDM refused to back his manager with the funds required to forge ahead to domestic dominance. Once again, we were left in our rivals shadows and AM was sacked and replaced by PLG. Again, we have hope but alas, it was to be false hope and SDM didnââ?¬â?¢t back his new charge with money either. So after 2 disastrous domestic campaigns, can our leader take a possible opportunity to put us back where we belong? Or will he once again, miss a golden opportunity? If the (strong) rumours are to be believed, Gordon Strachan will leave Craptic in the summer and return to a role in the EPL ââ?¬â?? most likely at Manchester City. Crapticââ?¬â?¢s form over the closing half of the season hasnââ?¬â?¢t been particularly good and only our woeful results under PLG have stopped us from mounting a serious challenge in the league and cups. So what will our esteemed leader do this summer? I think heââ?¬â?¢ll do what he has done in the last 5 summers, give his charge a minimum transfer budget to sign players who are expected to replace the ââ?¬Ë?betterââ?¬â?¢ players in our squad. The early indications donââ?¬â?¢t look promising, but surely a brilliant business man like SDM can smell an opportunity and would do what ever it took to put his ââ?¬Ë?businessââ?¬â?¢ back on top? I wouldnââ?¬â?¢t bet on it, this summer will be another missed opportunity for SDM and for Rangers. Cammy F
  10. Real Madrid are ready to pay £7million for Southampton full-back Gareth Bale - Daily Mirror. Portsmouth are to bid for Birmingham City defender Matthew Upson - Daily Mirror. Wolves are to make a £250,000 offer for Port Vale striker Leon Constantine - Daily Mirror. Watford are after Fulham striker Collins John and Norwich City forward Robert Earnshaw - The Times. Leeds United are ready to turn to former Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo - Yorkshire Post. Upson was one player i thought we should've been looking at.
  11. Its one of those typical, standard interviews from a fed-up player or more likely his agent. Maybe he will be for the off after all to boost the transfer kitty? That might make sense with Weir being first choice and us having a few candidates who could come in alongside him. Besides, if Webster is going to cost us £500,000 or so, we could pay for him from Svensson's fee and have money to spare. Taken from the Daily R*cord:
  12. The 31 year old Swede who is currently with Heerenveen, is transfer free in the summer and is attracting interest from Italy, England and Glasgow Rangers in Scotland. I often thought he would be a good defender in the Scottish game and he scores a few as well. He is a no nonsense hard as nails defender who will go through a brick wall to get the ball and he can play football as well. I think he would be great next to Weir next year. Maybe he would bring Svennsson on as well.
  13. Good news for us, i really didnt want him at Ibrox. A decent player for Motherwell but thats it. He done his job for us on helicopter sunday. I actually wonder what the tim reaction is to this.
  14. i like reading big fat eck's column (someone persuade him to transfer his blog to gersnet!). he's got a generally different opinion on last night - some comments: the whole article is good, aparts from just these snippets, you can read it here: http://rangers.openfootball.co.uk/index.php/2007/03/09/god-save-brahim-gers-1-osasuna-1/ what do you think, is there a silver lining? (p.s i promise no more topics starting with 'the')
  15. Of the guys who are guaranteed to be here and with those currently leaving (Novo, Prso, Klos etc) is this the best line-up we can start next year? McGregor Hutton Weir Webster Smith Burke Fergie Thomson Adam Boyd Gow With subs from: Gk - Robinson RB - Lowing CB - Ehiogu Svensson Broadfoot Papac (?) LB - Murray (Also a CB) Midfield - Hemdani Buffel Sionko(maybes) Forwards - Sebo (Have I forgotten any first team squad players?) Anyway, looking at that line-up, i'm happy with AM in goal and AH at RB. I know many fans aren't, but I think they do their job and we have more pressing concerns. If we get a "war chest" from somewhere and sort out all other positions, then look at buying players better than these two. Right now I don't beleive it is a viable option in terms of how we use any transfer budget. However we do need to look at bringing in competition for both positions within our budget. I actually think the CB position is looking very strong. A quick turnaround there from WS afterwhat PLG left him. Experienced heads of Weir, Webster and Ehiogu who can hopefully bring on the youngsters of Svensson and Broadfoot. Papac may very well be let go. LB also looks fine to me. Smith is a cracking wee player who can and will improve, and although Murray is not the same attacking threat he is an able deputy who can also fill in in most other positions. With Rae and Clement off, the midfield begins to look very light. I don't think we have the players to suit a formation incorporating Hemdani, Thomson and Fergie. Fergie has to start whenever fit. Our best and only top class player. You have to ask how likely is it that Thomson will not start most games. WS is not likely to be able to afford many £2million players, so you would expect Thomson to play. This begs the question, would Hemdani be happy as back up at CM and CB? Or will WS look to buy the players to fit this 4-4-1-1 type formation? With NN not being offered a new contract as of yet, who covers CA and CB on the wings? Does WS have Sionko in his plans? I'm not so sure. Cover on both wings is a neccessity, although maybe Gow has been bought with LM in mind. The centre forward position is also a worry. Looking at the available players, Boyd and Gow would be likely first choices. Boyd is guaranteed goals, but you need other goal threats for when Boyd has an off day as is stated when he's not scoring he's not often effective. Sebo and perhaps Buffel (although WS already tried to sell him) look like the only back up. God help us. Does NN deserve a new contract. Can Prso show he is fit enough for another year? Looking at that potential first XI it would be solid, but short on quality in midfield and more importantly upfront. The squad would also be severely lacking in depth. If Prso can prove his fitness he has to be kept on. Depending on other options, it may also be worthwhile keeping Nacho on for another couple of years although I am undecided on this one. The potential signings of Brown, McCulloch and McDonald are essential imo. They would add some fight to the team and depth and quality to the squad. However it would not fill the other mhob with dread. A potential starting line up may then look as follows: McGregor Hutton Weir Webster Smith Brown Fergie Thomson McCulloch Boyd McDonald With the following pushing for a start: Robinson Ehiogu (Svensson) Adam Burke Prso (For key games and impact substitutions. He couldn't last a full season.) Novo I would sell Sebo and Buffel and look at the "problem" positions of RB and GK. An improving squad but still severely lacking in depth and that extra bit of quality. Certainly, the recent signings by WS and the potential (expected) signings of Brown, McCulloch and McDonald are taking steps in the right direction, but typing this has just made me realsie what more is needed.
  16. Last Updated: Tuesday, 6 March 2007, 16:21 GMT E-mail this to a friend Printable version Police investigate Mikel transfer Teenager Mikel joined Chelsea in June last year Norwegian police say they are investigating the transfer of Nigerian midfielder Mikel Jon Obi to Chelsea. The 19-year-old joined the Blues from Lyn Oslo in June 2006, after initially agreeing to sign for Manchester United. "The case is about document forgery and that is serious," said Oslo police attorney Paal Hernaes. Mikel agreed to join United in April 2005 but later said he had been pressurised into signing for the club and agreed to move to the Blues. In June, Chelsea announced they had reached a financial settlement with United and Lyn under which they would pay United £12m and the Norwegian club £4m. The police expect to complete their investigation by early April
  17. RANGERS are believed to be keeping tabs on Poland striker Grzegorz Rasiak, of Southampton. The 6ft 3in, 28-year-old has bagged 19 goals this season in Saints' push to get back into the Premiership. Gers No.3 Kenny McDowall went to look at Rasiak in Saturday's 1-0 win over Ipswich, but the former Derby County and Spurs man was an unused sub. Rasiak was signed from White Hart Lane last May in a £2m deal after failing to make an impact in London. advertisement But the 35-times capped Poland frontman, who was a team-mate of Celtic duo Maciej Zurawski and Artur Boruc at the World Cup last year, has shone since his transfer to Southampton. Gers boss Walter Smith is keeping his options open on the striking front with Dado Prso's future still unclear. But he knows he needs to add firepower to a front line that has relied solely on the Kris Boyd's goals this season. I suppose we will be linked with many players in the next few months.
  18. I'm sure most of you guys know about "A Horse With No Name's" fantastic Excel stats file available to download on the fine RM site. http://www.rangersmedia.com/stats.html Unfortunately, the legendary poster above is unable to continue updating the file and because of the obvious problems in uploading and downloading the 30Mb file after every update a solution had to be found to keep the file going. I'm delighted to say that Gersnet will be making a large contribution to that. Not only will be looking to improve the file in the next wee while, I'll be porting the vast majority of it over to our Joomla main site. The initial data transfer will obviously be time-consuming but it will be worth some hard work to get this stats archive online. After the initial work, it will then be pretty easy to update the stats in real time without the need for large and slow downloads. I'm pleased to say that gisabeer will be helping me out with this project. He has experience of similar tasks and the time necessary to help me keep everything updated on a daily basis. Bear with me as we get the stats ported over but getting the use of this file means the Rangers Archive project will march on very quickly over the next week or 2. Once it's online every Gersnet user and every Rangers fan will hopefully get some great use out of the resource which is sadly missing from the official club website.
  19. Good luck to Andy and hopefully we will see him in action before the season ends
  20. WALTER Smith could be set to hand Stefan Klos a dramatic return for Rangers at Rugby Park this Sunday. The German keeper, who has made only three SPL starts in two years, may have to replace injured No.1 Allan McGregor. McGregor missed the Scotland gathering at Turnberry to have intensive treatment at Murray Park for a groin injury. It's understood he would have been forced to sit on the sidelines had Rangers still been involved in the Scottish Cup at the weekend, but the extra week has given him hope of recovering in time. advertisement Klos made himself a huge favourite with the Ibrox legions before a string of injuries, and a loss of form, made it impossible for him to win his place back. McGregor has put in some fine displays so far this season and has been rewarded with a Scotland call-up, so he'll want to keep his first team place. It's believed Smith has no problem with bringing Klos back, but will back McGregor if he can convince the Rangers medical department he is fit. Meanwhile, Rangers' Euro rivals Hapoel Tel Aviv have not been slow to replace axed boss Yitzhak Schum. The new boss is Nir Levin, and that could be good news for Smith. Former Dundee United player Jan Telesnikov said: "The change of manager won't do them any good. "They've succeeded in getting rid of a very popular coach who had great success with Panathinaikos, leading them to a Greek league and cup double before coming home. "The Hapoel fans loved Schum and have been standing up for him all season with some dirty tricks politics going on behind the scenes. "Levin is a younger coach who has been out of work for some time. I just don't see how he can have any impact in the short space of time before the Rangers matches." In another surprise, Gers flop Julien Rodriguez, who quit for Marseille during the transfer window, has been called into the France squad as cover for the injured Philippe Mexes for tomorrow's game with Argentina. Publication date 06/02/07 This will make Gribz happy.
  21. Former Celt rejects Gers Thu, Feb 01 2007 18:45 Mark Fotheringham has revealed he snubbed Rangers to join Norwich - because he wanted to play a higher standard of football. The former Celtic star joined on transfer deadline day along with fellow Scot, Simon Lappin, who arrived from Scottish Premier League side St Mirren. Fotheringham had been training with Rangers for a week and looked set to join Walter Smith's men. However, having watched Peter Grant's side take on Wolves at Carrow Road on Tuesday evening, the 24-year-old was quick to change his mind. The former Dundee player said: "I went to watch Rangers against Hearts at the weekend, it was alright but I think the standard is a lot stronger in the Championship as a whole, with the amount of teams and the size of the clubs here so that was obviously a big decision for me but, I am just delighted to be down here, I'm buzzing." Fotheringham looks set to make his debut against Leeds at Carrow Road this weekend and admits he is excited about lining up with his new team-mates for the first time. "I am so impressed with the squad, we have got some good players here and I just can't wait to get started playing with them," he added.
  22. Just wondering, what is our current debt and what's our wage bill looking like now? If I was a Jambo, those figures would scare the living daylights out of me. Even moreso when they probably only have Craig Gordon who could now command a decent transfer fee and they're out of the cup as well. Are they not in danger of a downward spiral out of control now?
  23. ... in terms of tactics and personnel for next season. I think the side might look something like this: ____________________McGregor___________________ Hutton______Webster____________Ehiogu_______Smith ________Hemdani_____Ferguson____Thomson________ ________Brown________Boyd_____McCulloch_________ I agree we need another right back which might help Hutton achieve a better level of consistency. With Klos leaving, we'll need another goalie unless we give the impressive Lee Robinson a chance as deputy. In midfield, Hemdani might move on but I think he'd get on well alongside Thomson or playing just in front of the back 4 enabling Ferguson to get forward. Brown and McCulloch could be signed for a combined £3-3.5million and both of them would make good buys for deeper, wider roles while supporting Boyd as the poacher. With Klos, Prso and Buffel all set to move on that will free up money for wages so that way we'll be able to afford the 3 or 4 players we need. In saying that guys like Burke, Adam, Murray, Novo and Svensson et al might still be able to provide adequate back-up for a better quality first XI. I just hope we have a 2nd place finish and CL football to help fund any transfer fees. We can ill-afford to finish 4rd again. That would be a disaster. PS: Trying to get back posting now after a hectic few weeks making the new RST website and real work... Let's get Gersnet buzzing again!

    Adda Djeziri

http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1861_1888090,00.html Rangers have signed Danish striker Adda Djeziri on loan from BK Frem until the end of the season, when they may strike a permanent deal. The 18-year-old was recruited before the transfer window closed on Wednesday night, it has emerged, and will now have the chance to earn a permanent move to Ibrox. Djeziri said: "It's a big club. Everything about the club is good and it works well for everyone, so I am very pleased." The low-profile deal may not have an immediate impact on the first team, but Rangers will be hoping that Djeziri does enough to justify a long-term stay in Glasgow. Previous Danes to have enjoyed success at Ibrox include Brian Laudrup and Peter Lovenkrands. BK Frem head coach Anders Theil said: "It is of course a shame that we won't have Adda here this spring, but he has the chance to prove himself in Scotland. "It's good for Adda, and he could join Rangers after the loan period and BK Frem could receive some money." Theil said: "He's got good potential and he's a very quick player, but he is still young. "I don't think he will be near the first team in the first half year, although they have the option to buy him in the summer." Meanwhile Rangers are in no rush to sign Falkirk striker Alan Gow to a pre-contract agreement. They confirmed to Falkirk last week, after having three bids for the 24-year-old rejected, that it was their intention to bring Gow to Ibrox in the summer. With Gow in the final six months of his contract, Rangers are entitled to talk with the player, however a club spokesman confirmed that nothing was imminent. This went by without anything being said and not on the official site. Is it true or just another website rumour.
