Hamilton Accies have completed the signing of 19-year-old prospect Nigel Hasselbaink, the nephew of ex-Chelsea and Holland forward Jimmy Floyd.

The pacy Dutch striker arrives from PSV after a successful two week trail at New Douglas Park and, pending international clearance, should go straight into the squad for Saturdays league clash against Inverness Caley Thistle.

Hamilton boss Billy Reid said of his new recruit: "Nigel gives us more options up front; he is pacy and has a good shot. I've liked what I've seen in him."

Meanwhile, Reid has told his players to redeem some lost pride when they travel to Kirkcaldy to face Scottish Division 1 leaders Raith Rovers in the League Cup on Tuesday.

Hamilton have conceded 8 goals and scored none from their opening two games, in a disappointing league start for the Accies. On the flipside, cup opponents Raith have started their season with a perfect 9 points from 9, and will be looking to continue their flying start with an SPL cup scalp.

Reid said: "This is a chance for the players to redeem themselves but even if we had won the first two SPL games and taken six out of six, this would still be a hard game,"

"Raith Rovers will see us as a potential scalp. They have got nine points out of nine and are top of the league so that tells you everything you need to know about them at the moment.

"The cup is important to us. We lost at Ross County in our first game in the competition last year so we know what to expect against Raith Rovers."

Hamilton lost by four clear goals for the second week running on Saturday as they were humbled by Jim Jefferies rampant Hearts side. However, Reid believes the results have been harsh on his young team and expects a marked improvement once his key players are fit.

He added: "We have been trounced 4-0 and 4-0 but we have not been murder in terms of our overall play.

"We have conceded four penalties in two games and you can't do that.

"But we have leaders missing at the moment and when we get them back then we will be okay.
