Auchinhowie cost £14 million to build.

Flo cost £12 million to buy, followed by a reputed £45k a week for two seasons (approx £4.7 million)

The £6 million wasnt counted, so yeah, Flo was £3 million or so less than our entire training centre :D

Presumably we paid Flo salary and bonuses as well. There again Auchinhowie has operating costs too - but it has also appreciated in value over the period too. Not so straightforward after all. However, while Flo was a complete waste of money, Auchinhowie hasn't been and that's what matters.

Which is the point I was making. For all of those players who took us precicely no-where forward, we could have spent on facilities, coaches, scouts and any number of things that would have had a tangible and long term effect on our finances and 'level'. Companies spend money they dont have all the time, if it is done to improve the business then it is often a risk worth taking. If it is to buy a guy who could have been replaced with another at 1/12 the cost then it is never going to end well.

Even if Murray had achieved his goal of winning the european cup, where would we be today? I would imagine the same place we are because the glory and immediate cash gains would have long dried up and without the firm bed to build from we would have done as we have, and sink slowly down the pecking order.

It would not have taken a huge amount either, just the cash from the Flo deal would have made a world of difference if spent correctly. Add Prodan, Adamczuc (a million paid if memory serves and a decent wage on top), Salenko, Guivarch and any number of other players we paid too much for and then paid too much and we could have had the best run club in the world. Instead we have what we have and we need to pray the man who delived it is capable of not only turning us around, but doing all the things he failed to do the first time.
