Rangers director Paul Murray reveals rival deal to buy club as Craig Whyte bid falter

Damned if I can see the big fuss about administration or why Rangers should be denied a mechanism that has been used by many businesses as a way out of trouble. Are we not in trouble? I'm not advocating it as there is a lot of information needed before judging the merits but neither would I discount it on the basis of not liking the sound of it.

Whilst there is negativity surrounding administration it MIGHT give the club the opportunity to settle its debts for pennies on the pound. I am no insolvency practitioner (or corporate recovery specialist) but often times administration is a good thing for entities.

That's the key word for me there mate. It's a massive risk that if pushed through LBG MIGHT want to sell off our best assets when we should be trying everything in our power to keep them

Do we not have to qualify for the CL next season if we win the league ? If so there is a decent chance we wouldnt qualify. If we went into admin and took a 10 point hit we would still probably finish 2nd and give ourselves that 2nd CL berth the following season. So I am not sure it would have a massive impact financially - in fact, the loss of CL could be wholly mitigated by a reduction in the payment amount of debts (one would have to assume the likes of LBG would accept less than pound for pound).

I can't see us finishing 2nd if we're forced to sell our top players and use young guns. You said you're not an expert in this but you will know more than me due to your profession. So would it not take quite a while for it all to settle down and by that time our club is even more of a shadow it itself than it already is?

We need to win to bring in money, do you honestly think the broader support would buy into this and renew STs and put faith in the same people who're responsible along with Murray for the mess we're in?

A massive risk that could backfire on us in dramatic fashion.

Whilst we all want what is best for Rangers, we have to remember that administration may not be as bad as it sounds. We dont want the club's reputation shattered but the Board have a responsibility to look after more then just the reputation - they also have to look after the financial aspect of the club (I know I know... poor job in the last 10-15 yrs...) and administration may be better for the club in that regard - if we got agreement to pay the debts at 50p in the pound we have saved about 10 million to LBG right there - that can go right back into the club. I just doubt whether LBG would accept that especially as they believe Whyte has the funding to pay them in full.

The club's reputation is shattered already and we would never be able to forget it. P. Murray is only looking after his own interests here, and so's his fellow board members. We have the chance to move forward for the first time in years and then talk of administration pops up because they can pick the club up on the cheap! Personally I want every bit of the current board removed from Rangers.

I am not saying the above is the case or factual - but it is plausible - and it MIGHT be in our better interests long term (if we can see beyond the reputational damage - but there doesnt seem to be that much of a fall-out from the Tims after their near locking the doors).

I'd take the the bunnet over the our current mob any day of the week.

I can see what you're saying in that you are looking at the bigger picture in a positive fashion, but the broader support won't take that view. This would set the club back years and then you have Ally McCoist, Rangers living legend, taking the hot seat without the proper tools.

We would have been better doing it 2-3 seasons ago instead of letting Walter perform miracles. Is Walter's work all for nothing? I thought he steadied the ship and made us more attractive to investors. Why work so hard to bring in success where it generates revenue which services the debt only for the club to go into administration as we are managing just fine.

The annual accounts will be out around July and should make good reading. Will it not tell us we can continue to honour our debt to LBG and invest in the squad on this year's success alone.

Have to agree MF. In all honestly, if we don't win the EBT tax case there might be no other option no matter who the owner is. I stand by the belief that it's better if a takeover doesn't go through until after this HMRC case because then everyone will know how the club REALLY stands financially.

Yes. Administration continues to be considered as a deliberate strategy for the future - especially if the tax case goes against us.

If it goes against us, there may be no other option Frankie. That seems quite clear.

I think you're hitting the nail on the round flat bit. Having got here at last, there seems no advantage in rushing to a conclusion that I can see.

I'm more worried about SDM trying to push through a sale quickly if the terms of the Whyte deal suit him - and if it suits SDM then you can be damn sure it will be at our expense. We can wait a little longer.
