Database error and site issues

Recommended Posts

When I've made a post in a thread and clicked 'post message' or whatever it is I'm getting a database error message appear on my screen. My post remains but my username doesn't appear as the last person to post on it.

Frustrating.

The whole site is going slow and there's times when I get report errors as well, but by far the biggest problem is double posts. I just look when it tells me my post has not been accepted by scrolling down to see that it has indeed been accepted, but it prompts you to re-post. Very annoying and frustrating, especailly as I aslo thought all these problems had been sorted out.

It's taken me some time to get on this site this morning and it keeps crashing everytime I click on something.

It's frustrating as hell.

I know Barry is otherwise engaged with work/uni work and hasn't got the time to maintain this site but another mod/admin NEEDS to take over the responsibility because it's the slowness of the site, the double posts, the database errors amongst other things are becoming more of a regular thing.

Aye, noticed over the last week it's gone back to being slow. I agree with Gav - one of the admin needs to step up and help out with the technical stuff when Barry can't.

I'm on a Milan forum and the single admin is literally never on, so no admin tasks ever get done. And it's excruciating.

As I said, if you get a database error use the error reporting option that you get along with the error message. That way Barry should get a notification of the error since he's the server/system administrator. If you don't do that, then Barry may well not even know that there's a problem or series of problems with the database.

The forum admin and mod team are completely separate from the administration of the server itself.

Yep, we've been experiencing a LOT of double-post problems, but it's not something that's just happening all of a sudden, it's been happening for ages. I'm constantly having to manually delete double posts just to keep things looking tidy and I don't mean just my own posts, I mean everyone's double posts.

Regarding the error reporting: You always get an option to notify the technical staff. An error report will be generated automatically anyway when the error occurs, but there's always a link to contact the technical staff yourself right at the bottom of the error message. What I'm saying is that Barry might not be picking up on the auto-generated error reports because he's really busy, but if you use the option to manually contact the technical staff it might make a difference.
