It’s A Really Exciting Time

THE Scottish Women’s Premier League kicks off its new season this Sunday and striker Sarah Robertson says there is a sense of excitement amongst the current Rangers squad.

Chairman Dave King committed to improved investment in the Club’s Women’s programme at November’s AGM and the players are already seeing the benefits.

McDonald: A Clear Game Plan

 

 

AMY MCDONALD believes Rangers must stick to the plan to come away with the victory as they travel to play Stirling University in the SWPL tomorrow.

McDonald is well aware of the difficulties Stirling University pose with the Light Blues picking up only one point in their last four visits.

RANGERS left Ochilview Park today with a resounding 4-1 victory over Stirling University in their opening SWPL game of the season.

On a sidenote ... from the match report. Does it sound familiar?

The home side eventually did take the lead in the 13th minute when the Rangers players stopped to claim for a head knock to Lauren Gallon.

As the midfielder lay injured, the Stirling players carried on and Stirling’s Jane Callaghan took full advantage by slotting a low shot into the left hand corner. The resulting head knock lead to Gallon being replaced by McCartney.

 

In the 21st minute Rangers hit back. Some superb midfield play by Amy Muir drew a foul from two Stirling players and from the resulting free kick, Gemmell floated a free kick right over the Stirling defence where Coakley nipped in while colliding with the advancing goalkeeper Logan to slide the Gers level.

The resulting collision lead to a second enforced change for Rangers, with Coakley leaving the field to be replaced by Terri Donnelly.

 

 

... I would assume the collision with the goalie was not noteworthy with the CO, nor was the ineptness of the referee after the - apparently serious - head knock before the first goal ...
