And the Light Blues have now attracted more fans this term than the combined attendances for the past FIVE years in the Third Division. Ally McCoist's men have the fifth-biggest average attendance in the UK. A crowd of 44,976 watched Rangers beat Berwick Rangers 4-2 in Glasgow last Saturday to ease them 19 points clear at the top of Scottish football's bottom tier. That pushed their total home league gates for the season to 468,977 after 10 games â?? a huge average of 46,897. And they will smash through the 500,000 barrier when they welcome Montrose to Ibrox a week on Saturday. Only Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester City boast higher attendance averages, with the English champions only a couple of hundred ahead. And Rangers still remain ahead of SPL champions Celtic, who are just behind with an average of 46,551. The combined total for the past five seasons in the Third Division was 423,363, with Rangers already through that barrier. It has taken them 10 home games to pass the total for 900 matches in that league! Our attendance is higher than any club in Italy or France; only Barca and Real have higher attendances in Spain and Ajax in Holland. It's been great to see the volume of families at games these days, I never remember there being this many. It was always a father & son event, but this season has been different. Or..
