does anyone else spot alarming similarities between Eck and McCoist

Recommended Posts

In Eck's later years we played turgid, negative long ball stuff. We signed a lot of dire players that were barely fit to play in Scotland at any level. He had a habit of playing strikers out of position eg Arveladze (played wide left a lot then went to Holland and finished as top goal scorer playing as a striker), Thompson, Prso etc.

It's possibly the Scottish approach to football but IMO they are basically exactly the same.

Eck took us to the last 16 in the Champions League where we were very unlucky, whilst our club was reducing an £80m debt and challenging Celtic for silverware. McCoist has done nothing as manager yet. I see no similarity whatsoever.

Finishing third in a two horse race finished him.

i always thought eck played pretty good football. 3 up top etc.

he had little money to spend and did well with it.

In the first 18 months with DA's players. After that when we were put out by Viktoria Zizkov, beaten about 10 times on the trot by MON and finishing third place in a 2 team league...not so much.
