Ferguson not happy with Le Guen

Recommended Posts

Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has admitted that he was angered by comments made by manager Paul Le Guen regarding the skipper's role at Ibrox.

When asked whether Ferguson was his voice on the pitch, Le Guen had said he felt the role of captain was not as important as people in Scotland think.

Ferguson however, was not happy with his manager's view.

"I read what the boss said and wasn't happy with that comment," Ferguson said ahead of Sunday's Old Firm derby.

Le Guen had claimed he had spoken to Ferguson about the role of captain, something Ferguson denies.

Being captain was something I dreamed of as a kid going to Ibrox

"The manager didn't say anything to me about it - there was no meeting," he added.

"To me it's the most important job. I'm privileged to be captain and all my friends and family are happy for me.

"I grew up as a fan, played for the club and the captaincy topped it off.

"I won't let anyone stop me being what I am. I am passionate about the role I play as captain - I enjoy moaning at my team-mates.

"Being captain was something I dreamed of as a kid going to Ibrox with my dad and watching my brother Derek."

Le Guen had spoken at a media conference two weeks ago about Ferguson's role.

"The role of the skipper isn't as important in France as it seems to be here," he said.

"I don't believe captains are as important to the players as some people think.

"We had a chat about that and Barry knows my way of thinking."

I think these things should remain in house before a OF game
