First of all, the LSE don’t do “all-clears” and the vetting of individuals in cases like this is left to company’s appointed NOMAD. It is my understanding that the LSE press office is briefing journalists that today’s story in the Daily Record is untrue and they have asked the paper to change the online version of the story. This will heap further embarrassment on the Record which has been widely criticised for its recent publication of a photograph of Rangers Financial Director Brian Stockbridge’s house. The news Dave King has not yet been approved to take up a directorship at Rangers will be a blow to Gers fans who saw his joining the Easdales and Brian Stockbridge on the board as a massive step forward for the club. Rangers PR people have also pointed out the King story is untrue and unfairly misleading to fans. You have to wonder why the Record would carry such a misleading story. I am told the paper’s editor is raging over the fact that Brian Stockbridge has lodged a complaint with the PCC over publication of pictures of his home, especially after recent threats he had received – threats that the Record actually mentioned in the article!
