'Make not reporting child abuse a crime' - Keir Starmer

Recommended Posts

Failure by professionals to report allegations of child abuse should be made a criminal offence, the former director of public prosecutions says.

Keir Starmer called for "mandatory reporting" in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal. The US, Canada and Australia already have such legislation.

Sanchia Berg reports.

Viewers in the UK can watch Panorama - After Savile: No More Secrets, Monday 4 November, 20:30 GMT on BBC One.
