When you say deferral do you mean his wages go back up to the original amount or that he will be paid the deferred sum (18 months) upon our return to the top league?[/.

 

I believe that his wages go back to their original amount when we get promoted and that there is no lump sum owed , however McCoist is no mug when it comes to money

History tells us the succeeding years following an administration event are rarely good for a football club. Dundee and Livingston both suffered subsequent financial problems and Airdrie have never properly recovered. It could be argued Hibs and Motherwell prospered but Hibs were bought by a very wealthy supporter and Motherwell simply used administration to clear their debt, they had the same owner before and after.

 

In England Wimbledon needed to vanish completely before being reborn, larger sides like Portsmouth and Coventry remain in precarious positions, Southampton and Leeds dropped to League 1.

 

The total ineptitude of our board has been blatantly obvious to anyone with the slightest interest in looking. Once again our club is in a financial hole, it is unable to honour commitments it made, that is not the fault of the players, they are absolved of blame.

 

At some point we the supporters are going to have to take a long hard look at ourselves though. Like most of us I watched months of in-fighting last year, people spending huge amounts of time and effort defending the directors of our club, criticising anyone who warned that all was not well and that change was needed. Shame on those who supported that board.

Our supporters trust is inept yet it should be the most powerful trust in the UK, never has a club created the circumstances where a supporter's body could garner support than ours has in the last couple of years. When are people going to realise that change is needed there?

 

Anyone who doesn't think our club is in serious peril, again, needs a reality check. That half way through a season, when we're top of the league, in one cup final and still in another, our budget is so wrong we're asking players to take pay cuts shows such fiscal vandalism as to warrant an enquiry.

 

Well we were warned but many chose not to listen. The signs we'd seen before were there again but many chose to ignore them. Too many of us would rather abuse our own than face up to our responsibilities.

Allegedly half and half again total of approx £1.5m; which makes it strange that neither has taken a cut because if correct it would mean that McCoist and McDowall were now on more or less the same.

 

Maybe they can only afford a 15% cut?

Nitpicking here, but someone was on the radio the other night saying that the figure of £826 for McCoist was a statement of what he received over 13 months, and his annual salary was £762K, but not a great deal of difference in the grand scheme.

Salaries for Durrant and McDowall of £300K plus is fucking obscene. What the hell was that based on?

It was based on their existing contracts from before we went into administration.

 

To be honest, when you look at these salary figures and those of the likes of Martin Bain and previous players, you really have to wonder what others are earning at the Club based on their oldco/tuped contracts.

The spiral of self harm continues.

 

It's a total no win situation. King, eg, could wade in and buy up lots of cheap shares, at which point the price rises, and the Board of Uselessness tell him he needs to stump up several millions or else it's admin2 and his newly bought shares become worthless, again. Or potential investors stand well back, wary of being burned by the Moronosphere Collective, the share price plummets and it's admin2 because no-one will cover the costs.

 

I suppose, if we do go into administration again, it seems absolutely clear that 100% competent and independent administrators would have to be appointed. Perhaps that's the only way out of this nightmare, although it would be only the beginning of the horror for employees of the club.

 

And as much as Ian Durrant is a club hero, should have been a legend, that's a horrific salary to be taking out the club (a) if it's true and (b) given the absolute rubbish we've been treated to since he's been a coach.
