RANGERS are reportedly keen to make a move for Romanian international defender Gabriel Tamas in time for next season.

The Doncaster centre-half, who has played for clubs in Spain, Russia and England, has allegedly held talks over a summer move to Ibrox.

Tamas has been capped 63 times by Romania, although he was briefly banned from international duty after he and former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu were caught drinking in the lead-up to a game. (Herald)

Cribari's contract is up in the summer, as is that of Simonsen, Gasparotto, Hutton, and Alan Smith (GK). Loads of players have contracts till 2015. I would assume that quite a few will leave before that, not least if someone is willing to take them on-loan or for good.

BTW and since I have not heard anything to the contrary, the coaching staff's contracts also run till this summer.

Here's the first team squad, with those whose contracts run out first at the top of each list:

Goalkeepers:

[Alan Smith (born 25.05.1993 ) – contracted till 2014]

Scott Gallacher (born 15.07.1989 ) – contracted till 2015 (loaned to Airdrieonians till Jan 2014)

Cammy Bell (born 18.09.1986 ) – contracted till 2017

Steve Simonsen (born ) - contracted till 2014

Defenders:

Emílson Cribari (born 06.03.1980 ) – contracted till 2014

[Luca Gasparotto (born 03.09.1995 ) – contracted till 2014 (loaned to Stirling Albion till Jan 2014)]

Chris Hegarty (born 13.08.1992 ) – contracted till 2015

Ross Perry (born 07.02.1990 ) – contracted till 2015

Steven Smith (born 30.08.1985 ) – contracted till 2015

Ricky Foster (born 31.07.1985 ) – contracted till 2015

Bilel Mohsni (born 21.07.1987 ) – contracted till 2015

Kyle McAusland (born 19.01.1993 ) – contracted till 2015 (loaned to Ayr United till Jan 2014)

Sebastien Faure (born 03.01.1991 ) – contracted till 2015

Lee Wallace (born 21.08.1987 ) – contracted till 2017

Midfielders:

Kyle Hutton (born 15.02.1991 ) – contracted till 2014

Ian Black (born 14.03.1985 ) – contracted till 2015

Nicky Law (born 29.03.1988 ) – contracted till 2016

Dean Shiels (born 01.02.1985 ) – contracted till 2016

David Templeton (born 07.01.1989 ) – contracted till 2016

Lewis Macleod (born 16.06.1994 ) – contracted till 2017

Robbie Crawford (born 19.03.1993 ) – contracted till 2017

Barrie McKay (born 31.12.1994 ) – contracted till 2017

Arnold Peralta (born 29.03.1989 ) – contracted till 2017

Fraser Aird (born 02.02.1995 ) – contracted till 2018

Strikers:

Lee McCulloch (born 14.05.1978 ) – contracted till 2015

Andrew Little (born 03.05.1989 ) – contracted till 2015

Jon Daly (born 08.01.1983 ) – contracted till 2015

Nicky Clark (born 03.06.1991 ) – contracted till 2016

Coaching Staff:

Manager Ally McCoist (born 24.09.1962) – contracted till 2014

First-Team Coach Kenny McDowall (born 29.07.1963) – contracted till 2014

First-Team Coach Ian Durrant (born 29.10.1966) – contracted till 2014

Sidenote: That Tamas chap has some experience, has he not. Playing three years at West Brom in the Championship and EPL won't have done him any harm. Heck, I never notivced that Doncaster Rovers are actually playing in the Championship!

Alas, unless someone sits at Ibrox or Auchenhowie with pen in hand and ink drying on the contract, I'm not getting all too un-/excited.

I'd suggest we sort out the future of McCulloch, Cribari, Perry and Hegarty before we sign any more central defenders.

Agreed.

Notice that WBA apart, where he only played 45 games in 3 years; he seems to be a bit of a nomad and there has been more than one pub incident. At 30+ is he really the kind of player we want at Ibrox?

I would imagine that Luca Gasparotto will be in line to be getting a new contract or at the very least an extension to his existing one.

Interestingly, Alan Smith turns 21 in May, so will no longer be the no.1 keeper for the U20 squad if he was given a new deal or extension.

Can the Under 20s not play a few over aged players? At 21 he should be looking at going on loan and getting real games under his belt.
