Rangers full-back Lee Wallace shrugs off last week's transfer drama and reveals he sees his long-term future at Ibrox

2 Feb 2014 07:48

THE Scotland defender says he's fully focused on getting Gers back to the top-flight and is not interested in a move to England.

LEE Wallace revealed last night he had no intention of leaving in the transfer window and is fully focused on helping Rangers back to the top flight.

The Gers defender, 26, was the subject of two rejected bids from English Championship side Nottingham Forest last week but no further offers came in for Wallace on deadline day.

And the £1.5million-rated Scotland full-back is adamant he sees his long-term future at Ibrox.

After Rangers’ 2-1 win over Brechin on Saturday, Wallace said: “I’m over the moon to still be here.

“We’ve got a championship to wrap up, a Ramsdens Cup Final to win and a Scottish Cup tie to look forward to.

"I’m more than happy to be part of it. If I’m in the gaffer’s plans, I see myself here for a long time.

“I heard the speculation but wasn’t worried when bids came in. If one had been accepted I’d have dealt with it. But it was easy to ignore it.

“The manager made me aware of what was going on but now the window is shut I can concentrate on helping us win the league title.”

Rangers made life hard for themselves against Brechin and Bilel Mohsni’s sending off left them on the back foot and defending their 2-1 lead at Ibrox.

Wallace said: “That was harder than it should have been. It just shows it’s vital to kill teams off quickly.”
