Seen this advertised when the Walking Dead was on just before I moved out to HK a few weeks ago.

Mob City is by the same people responsible for TWD and has some of the same cast. Anyone know if it is worth a watch?

They only made 6 episodes and it was cancelled last month, but definitely worth a watch if you're into gangster stuff and a bit of film noir.

It's sad that so many good shows get cancelled while they run series after series of total dross on the box, but it's been that way for years.

'Carnevale' being the prime example. Top Quality HBO product, cancelled after two seasons.

'Deadwood' got to three seasons but could have cruised to another 2 at least

'Firefly' - a quirky wee Sci-fi comedy/drama - cancelled after just one. Breaks yer heart so it does.

and there's probably half a dozen I've forgotten

Aye absolutely. The Americans (ABC in particular) are a total nightmare for cancelling shows because they commission shit loads of pilot shows and only the ones which get the best viewing figures and ratings get more than a single season if they're lucky. Some don't even get a full season.

A few other decent shows which were cut short early are:

The Assets - only got 2 episodes into it's 1st season, then ABC cancelled it without even airing the rest of the season.

The Playboy Club - only got 3 episodes into it's 1st season, then NBC cancelled it with 4 episodes left un-aired due to lobbying by religious crackpots.

Luck - Cracking HBO effort about horse racing and betting etc that was cancelled due to animal safety reasons because horses kept falling over during filming. They probably got hounded by animal rights nutters.

Defying Gravity - only got 1 season, then cancelled.

Awake - only got 1 season, then cancelled.

Vegas - only got 1 (albeit long) season, then cancelled.

Red Widow - only got 1 short season, then cancelled.

Magic City - only got 2 short seasons, then cancelled.

Stargate Universe - only got 2 seasons, then got cancelled without even a proper ending.

There's countless others too...

Compare that list to the list of completely cheesy shite which gets 4 and 5 seasons.
