Couple of twats, sorry, I mean tweets......

The Daily Record ‏@Daily_Record 20h

A journalistic titan leaves the building today - all the very best to Hugh Keevins who finished up at Record HQ this afternoon.

The Record would appear to be in serious financial trouble, the high earners are leaving the building. Tam Cowan is currently waiting to move to the Sun on a substantial pay rise.

Principled Tam continually bleats about the very real outrage and communities' tragedy that was Ravenscraig. He awaits on his knees for full throated consummation of Rupert's Wapping wedge. Couthie Stuart and Tam, soooo couthie they should be on a front cover of the Peoples Friend.

It wouldn't be a surprise at all if the Record is in serious financial trouble. Circulation figures for both the Record and the Sun have been in free fall in recent years with figures plummeting down an average of ten to fifteen percent per year.

Last summer the Record yet again tried to combat their annual 10% circulation drop by just firing an extra 10% onto the cover price of the Daily edition. It won't have helped their finances long term because raising the cover price again certainly won't have increased it's sales.

As was demonstrated by another 10% increase very recently (well under a year since the last price hike), the Record's circulation is still in free fall with stats from February suggesting it's total circulation was down almost 12.5% from the previous year.

In fairness, these excuses for newspapers aren't alone. The UK's whole newspaper industry is struggling big time.
