Today Dundee United fielded a side with an average age of 23. It's fair to say they will develop and improve.

Conversely, our average age was 28.

I think the most depressing thing about that is our current squad isn't going to be improving at all. It needs gutted, no long term vision or intelligence has applied. All we can really hope for now is a change of ownership to gut the club from top to bottom. The football is shite, we aren't playing youngsters and the future does not look bright.

Also, someone on here suggested that the reason we are not just playing the kids now with nothing to play for was to keep them fit for the cup games. Well we will soon see that this is nonsense. Our average aged squad approaching 30 will saunter on until the end of the season with the club achieving no progression.

Frightening mate. Some of our fans still think we have a team of kids too.

It's also the 4th time in a row they have knocked us out of a cup competition with Ally being involved with all 4. It's simply not good enough. It's actually rather embarrassing.

United fielded a 17 year old and an 18 year old against Rangers at Ibrox in a Scottish Cup semi-final.

We seem reluctant to play youngsters of that age in the team in the 3rd division - even after it was clear that we would win it by the length of Sauchiehall Street.

Perhaps our 17 year olds & 18 year olds aren't as good as Dundee Utd's 17 year olds & 18 year olds ?

If they're not, what does that tell you about our management, coaching and scouting?

Why do the managers we have had in recent memory favour negative, route 1 football? What is it? Do they watch Stoke languishing in the Premiership and think this is the blueprint for success?

Do they watch La Liga, Bundesliga, the decent teams in the Premiership, the Champions league? Why not base yourself on what works? What is actually watchable and intelligent?

Quite a lot probably. And also the fact we're not getting out of MP what we should be getting out of MP

So why hasn't something changed? Why is Allys pal still in charge there? Dinosaurs like Sinclair and Kirkwood. Ally has surrounded himself with his pals, Durie with the reserves, Durranty in the dug out......It's not about ability.

The young lads we had playing regular games last season would have given that Arab side a run for their money today. McKay, Naismith & Crawford for example, would not have been out of place at all.
