I take it that neither Gunning has signed thus far, nor Telfer left.

On a sidenote, should we actually get a Lampard type figure, I'd assume that the ST sale will get take up some momentum indeed. (Not that I expect Lampard coming north, but one never knows ... )

For the avoidance of doubt, nobody in the history of football has ever signed a player as poor as Gavin Gunning, then gone on to sign a 'Lampard type figure' in the same transfer window.

Laudrup and Bollan were signed in the same season mate!

Ally Maxwell and Chenks too!

Stephen Wright and Gascoigne...... :D:thup:

Slovakia international Marian Kello now looks unlikely to complete a summer switch to Ibrox after agreeing a new one-year contract with St Mirren.

Ally McCoist’s hopes of recruiting an experienced goalkeeper for next term have suffered a setback after it was announced that prime target Marian Kello is set to remain with current club St Mirren.

The 31-year-old had reportedly been identified as the ideal stopper to help the Gers back into the Scottish Premiership, following an impressive campaign for the Paisley club.

However, the Light Blues will now have to look to alternative transfer targets after Kello put pen to paper on a new one-year contract with the Buddies.

It comes off the back of a fine campaign with the Saints, during which Kello has kept six clean sheets since arriving at the club less than a year ago.

These impressive displays soon caught the attention of Rangers, with St Mirren moving to tie the Slovakian down to a longer deal, having initially recruited the goalkeeper on a short-term agreement.

Kello will now remain at the club until the summer of 2015, at which point Rangers may launch a second attempt to prise the stopper away from Paisley.

In the meantime, manager Tommy Craig was full of praise for the 31-year-old’s performance this term, describing his efforts as “impressive.”

"Overall, he came here and impressed everyone at the club with his professionalism, and his talent as a goalkeeper is there for everyone to see,” he told the official St Mirren website.

This latest development is nevertheless a blow to Rangers, with the club keen to recruit quality players ahead of a season in the Scottish Championship.

Former fan favourite Carlos Cuellar, for instance, was linked with a move back to Ibrox following his departure from Sunderland

not much of a confidence boost for the goalies already here

There are many things on and off the park we need to spend scarce cash on, but another experienced keeper isn't one of them.

We should only be signing players who will improve the squad. Signing for the sake of it is a waste of money we don't have and leaves us in a mess if we do win promotion next summer.

Kello? Now that looks to be a rumour made up by the media folk, talked about by the media folk to make it sound like true and then used to tell us that he "snubbed" us for the Buddies. I doubt that Ally will loan Gallacher again.

Rangers will step up their interest in Hibs youngsters Jason Cummings and Sam Stanton this summer after impressing Ibrox scouts in the latter stages of the season. Rumours of an approach for former player Kevin Thomson are wide of the mark though. (The Scottish Sun)
