Have been asked the share the following press release:

http://www.gersnet.co.uk/index.php/latest-news/247-fernando-ricksen-testimonial-information

This Sunday, the 25th of May, is the day of the Fernando Ricksen testimonial match when his All Star Team will play against Fortuna Sittard.

Football brand COPA was honoured when Fernando and writer of his book Vincent de Vries asked to design and donate a special kit for Team Fernando, with many former internationals and Ricksen himself.

The kit is designed in cooperation with Fernando and based on his wishes. The unique match-worn jerseys will be auctioned after the game, featuring each player’s signature. A second set of shirts will be part of a Fortuna Sittard auction. All proceeds will go to the ALS Foundation in The Netherlands.

After starting his career at Fortuna Sittard, Ricksen went on to play for AZ Alkmaar, Glasgow Rangers and Zenit St. Petersburg before ending his career with Fortuna. The defender also played 12 matches for the Dutch national team.

Not long ago, Fernando announced live on Dutch TV that he is suffering from ALS. Because of this, the testimonial will be extra emotional. Ricksen invited several well-known players and coach Willem van Hanegem for this unique testimonial match.

During the next few days COPA will reveal all great names to play for Team Fernando by posting a new picture every day. You can follow COPA on:

Nice strip, we could do worse than have it as our own change kit this season.

Hope this is a huge success for Ricksen. One of my least favourite players ever to have worn the famous Rangers shirt, but this illness he has is truly heart-breaking for him and his family, and with some proceeds going to charity towards this disease it deserves to be a sell-out.

Sums up the state of our club that WE aren't having a game for Ricksen. Should have been a sell out a Ibrox with all proceeds going to MND charity

I don't think we could sell out something like that mate. Ricksen wasn't universally liked by Bears.
