RANGERS are taking a 24-man squad north for their first pre-season tour which will see them play games against Buckie Thistle and Brora.

New signings Darren McGregor, Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd are all in the travelling party which left Murray Park after lunch.

Most of Ally McCoist’s other key squad members have been included too with the exception of four players.

Jon Daly and David Templeton sit the trip out with minor injuries while Bilel Mohsni and Arnold Peralta are still on holiday.

Each has been granted extended leave after representing Tunisia and Honduras respectively beyond the end of last term.

They aren’t due back until the Light Blues return to Glasgow and it is expected they’ll go on the North American tour from July 12 to 25.

Lewis Macleod is a welcome inclusion in the group as he looks to play for the first time since a 56-minute outing in a 3-2 win over Arbroath on January 25.

Calum Gallagher is on the bus after stepping up into the first-team pool on a full-time basis and Barrie McKay joins him after returning from a loan spell at Morton.

Elsewhere, youngsters Andy Murdoch, Luca Gasparotto, Craig Halkett and Liam Kelly will each hope to get some action against the two Highland League sides too.

The group will train at Brora’s Dudgeon Park for the duration of its stay in Sutherland and the game there is at 3pm on Sunday.

Before then, McCoist will take his men to play Buckie Thistle at their Victoria Park home on Thursday and that fixture starts at 7.30pm.
