Former Rangers chief executive Charles Green is launching a bid to return to Ibrox as a director by fronting a £10 million investment in the club from an American billionaire.

New York based George Soros has told Green to make his move within the next 7 days by offering existing Rangers shareholders 20p per share to become the company’s biggest shareholder.

If that move fails, Soros and Green will offer the current board a £10 million loan at 5% interest, with the Murray Park training ground taken as security on the deal.

Clyde Sport understands Green would then return to the club as a director with a new chief executive to be appointed to replace the current man in charge, Graham Wallace.

The move would also throw into question the future of Rangers manager Ally McCoist with both men known to be fans of club legend Brian Laudrup.

Green still has close contacts with the current Rangers board through Sandy Easdale.

Mr Soros has been involved in Major League Baseball in the United States and currently has a 1.9% stakeholding in Manchester United.

He played a significant role in the transition from communism to capitalism in his native Hungary in the 1980s and is a well known currency speculator who gained the title, “The man who broke the Bank of England” in the 1992 Black Wednesday currency crisis.

Forbes magazine has listed 83 year-old Soros as the 27th richest person in the world as recently as 2 weeks ago and he’s the 7th richest man in America with a net worth of £23billion.

Same old bullshit and lies from Green.

I remember when he was globetrotting and trying to sell the IPO he was telling anyone who would listen all sorts of lies about the investors and level of investment he had lined up.

According to Chuck, we were supposed to believe that he had 4 different investors banging on his door desperate to invest £20m each.....

I can't remember a bigger liar and bullshitter ever being involved in the running of the Club.

well you can , his name was david murray.

UOF statement on Green

"Simply put, Charles Green is not welcome at Rangers and we believe any attempt by him to return would see a huge number of Rangers fans seriously consider a full boycott of the club.

Mr Green lied to the Rangers fans on more than one occasion. He presided over a period of mismanagement which has once again left the club on its knees financially. At all times he acted in his own and his original investors interests and never in the interests of the club. If he is indeed genuinely attempting to return then it will simply be to extract whatever more he can on behalf of the faceless investors he still represents.

It is clear now that the board rift between Graham Wallace and Sandy Easdale cannot be mended and that the Blue Pitch and Margarita power block no longer feel they can exert enough influence through Easdale. He has been side-lined and as a result they are turning back to the man who set up the “onerous contracts” from which others have been benefitting since his arrival at the club.

It appears that Mr Green is struggling to maintain his grasp on reality if he thinks Rangers fans will accept a further pillaging of the club by his clients.

We expect the board to completely rule out any attempt from any further associates of Mr Green to get involved with Rangers. We also expect them to confirm that no members of the PLC or 'football’ board have been involved in any attempt to bring further associates of Mr Green into the club. The £10m, even if it exists, is a sticking plaster on a gaping wound and made all the worse by Green’s record of syphoning any money invested in the club straight back out."

£10M loan at 5% interest with Auchenhowie as security - when we are struggling to pay back Easdale and Letham given the smaller value of loan and Edminston House and Albion already secured?? No thanks Chuck. I would rather we never 'robbed Peter to pay Paul'!

Farcical idea that - end of!

You are correct TG, it is pretty farcical. But how confident are you that those on the board will go along with your "end of" view.
