Cammy Bell to have shoulder scan

According to The Sun, Bell dislocated his shoulder against Falkirk and could be out for up to three months.

 

RANGERS fear they could lose Cammy Bell for three months.

 

SunSport can reveal the Ibrox goalkeeper dislocated his right shoulder at the weekend.

 

The Scotland cap, saw a specialist yesterday and will have a scan this morning to determine the full extent of the injury.

 

Bell had originally hurt himself making a save in the first minute of Gers’ win over Falkirk on Friday night.

 

After receiving treatment on the field he stayed on to perform heroics and keep out the Bairns’ attacks.

 

All his saves were on his left side as he saw it through the 90 minutes.

 

But when he trained on Saturday morning he was forced off when he felt his shoulder pop out diving to his right.

 

The best news Bell can expect is an injection and three weeks out.

 

But the worry is his injury will require surgery and leave him staring at a spell on the sidelines until November.

 

Bell missed last night’s Petrofac Training Cup win over Clyde and Gers boss Ally McCoist will be sweating on today’s diagnosis.

 

Steve Simonsen — who re-signed late on in the summer — took over the gloves last night.

 

But after allowing third-choice Scott Gallacher to leave, McCoist has only Liam Kelly, 19, to call on.

That is a concern, Simmo is a capable keeper for the most part, but error prone at times and seems to lack confidence, I also question his concentration levels, had one save to make last night and got beat at his near post, albeit with a rocket of a strike.

Goalkeepers need games to be at their best - more than most they need their sharpness levels at their highest and have to play with confidence. As such, it's very difficult for keepers to come in for the odd game as opposed to a run of matches.

 

It was a shame we conceded that goal last night and I think Simo will be disappointed that he was unable to stand up to the strike a bit better. However, Mohnsi was to blame for moving out of position, while McGregor failed to cover effectively as well.

Agree totally, with the confidence issue, I'm not sure we have the defenders capable of protecting a keeper properly at the moment and the danger is he is left exposed when the likes of Mohsni make their weekly howler, that could be disastrous for his confidence, on the other hand he could pull of a couple of good stops in the same situation, anyway whatever the outcome it is what it is and we must deal with it, the defence need to step up and play their part.

I liked Simo's kit last evening, a nice pastel powder blue affair. Maybe, that is the future of goalkeeping, utilise them as a blank canvas for revenue raising advertising?

Last night's pastel blue was certainly better than the luminous yellow/green of late but I'm surprised the officials found it suitable.

We'll probably have to wait and see. Not a whisper from the club so far. Maybe elfideldo can lighten us up, but from what I read before, Kelly is a very able keeper too.

In all seriousness, a great chance for Simonsen. Though a goalkeeper should never be the difference between us and the opposition at this level. Shouldn't matter who is behind the sticks. If I was boss I would throw young Kelly in. He is our future

Rumour is Kelly has rejected a new contract so not sure how eager the manager will be to give him a chance.

 

Robby McCrorie is very highly thought of but still too young.
