U of F Statement

It is succeeding in getting its message out, although whether it is get it out well enough to hit home is a matter of opinion, but can you imagine if it didn't exist and we had to rely on this new fan board to spread the word?

 

The UoF, thankfully, is doing the work that this new fan board will never do.

 

When we add everything up the UoF has succeeded where most haven't considering the boycott of STs and general enmity facing the board and the string pullers. However, statements start losing their effect when 1) there's so many to keep track of, and 2) there isn't an actual 'go to' site or person for reference.

 

We have two groups offering share buying schemes, the club begging for STs with UoF saying don't buy STs. Lot of confusion for bears that aren't political minded, which is most. On top of that the groups saying boycott are going game by game on an individual basis. Or in the case of the UBs and TBO, they're going as a group game by game. Both of those groups are now split which further confuses supporters who are asking/looking for leadership.

 

Throw in the Assembly which is part of the UoF, they don't appear to have a place right now but are still on the club's website as an official group.

 

There's no cohesion and we are every bit as incompetent looking as the board themselves.

 

We need to sort ourselves out before we really take on the board or the status quo continues and the ****s win as they are just now.

 

Perhaps I'm past the point of talking!

I have still not seen any evidence of the board/owners taking a blind bit of notice when it comes to UoF press statements. Please correct me if I have missed something.

The fan groups are a bit of a mess. Not necessarily their fault but confusion is a problem.

 

I don't feel well represented by anyone at the moment. Nor does any particular group look attractive in terms of getting involved in.

 

That makes the UoF statements all the easier for the club to ignore.

One of our biggest issues is the lack of communication when disagreeing. There is also the fact that someone always thinks they know better so a new group pops up. RF is a classic example of both points. Moreover, the club has always used conquer and divide tactics against supporters, mainly the strong characters in order to dismiss genuine concerns.

 

Can you imagine all groups leafleting on the same day outside Ibrox in front of 40000+ fans?

The Assembly is into its next phase: the new fan board. Does the original even exist now?

 

There is certainly confusion regarding fan groups, but that suits our dysfunctional club to a tee and allows it to add to the mess by creating this latest piece of junk.

 

The Assembly was created because the club feared the fans having a voice through the RST, and now Assembly 2.0 has come along because the club wants to marginalise the various fan groups, have a degree of control over its in-house fan board, and cash in at the same time.

 

While the club is in inappropriate hands, the only groups that have any value are independent of the club. If this new fan board came out with the kind of statement that the UoF just did, how long would the club tolerate it?

 

As fans, we are quick to fall out with each other, but we are just as quick to bend over and let the club shaft us with its own dubious creations.

 

With Assembly 1, we should have learned a lesson, and yet here we are again with Assembly 2.0 where we are actually participating with the very regime and board that few trust, hardly anyone wants, and after it wasted millions of pounds and put the club's future in serious doubt.

 

The UoF may be imperfect, but it is independent and able to say what has to be said. Knock it for making the occasional error or misjudgement, but be glad of it, too.

 

If we had to rely on a badly-run club's fan board to say what has to be said, we'd be as well chucking it.

The situation regarding the Assembly is complicated by the fact that the RFFF monies are held in the Assembly bank account.

I have long been critical of the multitude of groups which appear every so often, but you go out of your way to downplay everything that isn't the RST. That is most certainly not helpful to the situation either.

You'll notice I'm talking about the UoF here, of which the RST is a part. An attempt has been made by different groups to speak in a coordinated manner, which is surely a degree of progress.
