Gallagher is a good option for the right, McKay one for the left. Both could also play as a or just behind a striker. But when you have a rather talented and decent enough winger like Templeton being left out and a Smith or even a Macleod takes up wing slots, or the of late rather underwhelming Aird starts, it makes you wonder whether either will get a chance under the current regime. Both should and could have been reared to first team action in SFL 3, Division One or this season, yet they go out on loan and a Hutton get's a contract extention and stays.

CATCH up with how the eight Rangers youngsters out on loan got on at the weekend in the latest instalment of Loan Watch:

Calum Gallagher - Cowdenbeath

Calum Gallagher who recently featured in a special RangersTV programme ahead of the Rangers against Cowdenbeath game only featured for fifteen minutes of the weekend match against Raith Rovers after being taken off due to a head knock.

Kyle McAusland – Brechin City

Kyle McAusland missed the game at the weekend owing to an injured hand that he picked up against Montrose during the week.

Tom Walsh – Stenhousemuir

Midfielder Walsh got just over ten minutes of action for Stenhousemuir against Dunfermline coming on a substitute to replace Dickson. Stenny won the match 1:0 thanks to a goal from Kris Faulds

Robbie Crawford – Greenock Morton

Crawford played the full ninety minutes for Morton against Airdrie as the Ton won all three points in League One. Jamie McCluskey scored the only goal of the match which meant Morton kept their place at the top of the league.

Luca Gasparotto – Airdrieonians

Canadian youngster Gasparotto didn't feature for Airdie in the match against Greenock as he has been away on international duty all week with the Canadian under-20 side. Luca played against England under-20s last week in an entertaining 2:2 draw at Bournemouth.

Barrie McKay – Raith Rovers

Young winger McKay played the full match as Raith came from behind to defeat Cowdenbeath in the Championship Fife derby. Kudas Oyenuga opened the scoring for the Blue Brazil, but McKay had a hand in both Raith goals, contributing a long free kick for the first goal and an excellent darting dribble over distance for the second.

Daniel Stoney – Stranraer

Stoney came on as a 70th minute substitute for Stranraer, replacing Gibson, as the Blues missed the opportunity to move into second position in League One, drawing 1:1 with Stirling Albion.

Craig Halkett – Clyde

Central defender Halkett who travelled with the first team squad to Brora on preseason played the full ninety minutes for Clyde as they dropped to a 1:0 defeat to East Stirling who scored through an own goal by McQueen in the seventh minute.

CATCH up with how the eight Rangers youngsters out on loan got on at the weekend in the latest instalment of Loan Watch:

Young striker Calum Gallagher continued his good run of form out on loan at Cowdenbeath with yet another goal - his fourth in nine matches - in a 1:0 win over Livingston.

Winning those three points meant that the Blue Brazil leap-frogged Livingston to move off the bottom of the SPFL Championship table and into ninth position.

Kyle McAusland missed last weekend with an injury to his hand, but he was back in action this week against Peterhead. McAusland continued to play in a midfield position for Brechin and had a good game in a 1:1 draw at Balmoor in a game that Brechin dominated.

Elsewhere in League 1, Tom Walsh was a second half substitute for Stenhousemuir in a 3:1 defeat to Robbie Crawford's Greenock Morton.

Crawford played all but one minute of the 3:1 win for Morton to win all three points to maintain their position at the top of the League by a single point. Goals from Lee Kilday and Stefan McCluskey were enough for the victory.

Luca Gasparotto was back in the starting line up for Airdrieonians after his exploits with the Canadian under-20 side, however his team went down 1:0 to Daniel Stoney's Stranraer. Stoney played 89 minutes of the match and it was a penalty from Stephen Stirling after Stoney was fouled inside the box that separated the sides.

Young winger Barrie McKay played the full match as Raith Rovers were defeated 2:0 at Palmerston Park through goals from John Baird and Gavin Reilly.

The three points and defeat of the Gers by Hearts meant that the Doonhammers closed the gap to four points between second and third position in the Championship.

Craig Halkett played the full match for Clyde in a 4:0 defeat for Barry Ferguson's men. The loss meant that the Bully Wee slip to sixth position in League Two.
