Much like saying why Newcastle isn't a success and you do wonder why people ask such type of questions, as if they have never looked at who Newcastle is up against in the EPL. Right now, the Magpies are in the bottom half of the table. After 8 matchdays Borussia Dortmund is 14th in the BL too. What does that tell us about their business credentials or whether they are being run as a success -at this moment and time? But I ask again, why would he invest in Rangers at all if not to get us into the top tier, win trophies and see us into Europe? Solely to sell his SD stuff in our fanshops? That means investment and he'd have a lot more to offer in that respect than the KIng & co offer last week He might have more to lend Rangers and a substantial loan could end up being a millstone for the club for years to come. Ser Barristan Selmy 222 Posted October 19, 2014 Share Posted October 19, 2014 The kind of money required to be successful in the EPL is eye watering. just look at Man City and Chelsea.Ashley isnt willing to spend that sort of money at Newcastle hence he'd be willing to sell. Success at Rangers with an easier route into Europe may be more appealing to Ashley however.And most important of all it would not cost anywhere near as much as it would at Newcastle Everton don't spend that much and have been in the top 5 several times in the last 10 years. PS - With our infrastructure, management and squad we're not going to be getting past any qualifiers in Europe without huge investment. How many times have they won the EPL? How many times have they been in the CL? When did they last win anything? The last trophy they took was the Liverpool Senior Cup in 2007. Top 5 league positions and the odd appearance in Europe ... that tells us something about their impact in the EPL. BTW, should the Triumvirate don't pull this off, the board is running out of money soon. Like it or not, they will look to finance the club one way or another and the only route on the table appears to be Ashley. We all are very much aware what his arrival could mean. Whether this will happen is anyone's guess. I'm sure Everton fans get a lot more enjoyment seeing their side regularly near the top of the premiership as opposed to the relegation zone. Put simply Everton have now built a quality team with youth players coming through and play good football too.
