We need at least 8 international class players before August.

Ally is talking about January and to win this division. He quotes the January signing of Roberts by Souness as an example.

After all we can hardly expect him to take on Hearts without an even bigger resource advantage than he already has now, could we?

s***s out! start with Alistair McCoist. a complete and utter f*****g joke.. The man must be surrounded by yes men and sycophants that tell him he is wonderful. It appears he has no grip on reality and probably still believes he is revered and loved by the masses. 8 international class players by August? oh yes that will come from the bottomless pit of cash about to fall into our laps...

Roberts was signed b4 January unless I'm mistaken

Would anyone seriously give Ally money to go out and buy players? Goodness knows who he'd get. There are three or four positions where we are seriously short but would he sign players for these positions or do as he usually does and bring in whoever is available and play them out of position

Ally thinks it was January:

"Former director Dave King last week held talks with the Ibrox board on a £16million rescue package.

King has teamed up with former director Paul Murray and wealthy fan George Letham, and is expected to hold further discussions over his plans for investment, which would secure a 51 per cent stake in the club.

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has called for an extraordinary general meeting and wants to remove chief executive Graham Wallace and director Philip Nash from the board.

McCoist is keen for the rival businessmen to join forces to rescue the club. But whoever comes out on top, McCoist hopes it happens soon and he will be allowed to invest in his squad.

Rangers are currently trailing Championship leaders Hearts by nine points, but McCoist believes new arrivals would give his squad added impetus in the title race.

He said: “We haven’t heard anything for three or four days, but I’m very hopeful that we could have some good news in the coming days or weeks.

“It would be brilliant if there was some kind of funding solution before the end of the year, but we’re not expecting it or relying on it.

One or two signings in January can make all the difference. I can go back to us signing Graham Roberts from Spurs in 1987.

“He was a fantastic signing and helped us kick on. Graeme Souness was always keen on January signings.”

Rangers don’t have a scouting department but McCoist and his coaching staff do keep a lookout for signing targets.

He said: “We attempt to keep ahead of the game. We don’t have a scouting system but we still watch players and look at those who are out of contract.”

Rangers travel to face East Fife tonight in the quarter-final of the Petrofac Training Cup, and McCoist is delighted to have a selection headache up front.

Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd both bagged their first league goals of the campaign in the 6-1 thrashing of Raith Rovers on Saturday, and Jon Daly came off the bench to net twice.

And with Nicky Clark also pushing for a start, McCoist is thrilled to have healthy competition for places. "
