WH Ireland Limited: Accept the Legitimate Request for the Rangers EGM

Recommended Posts

Don't see the point in this. Either they have to accept it or they don't. If they don't have to then a petition is meaningless.

I guess it's just emphasising to the NOMAD that their actions will be under minute scrutiny.

Might make them pause for thought before making any "unusual" interpretations of the rules.

AN online petition calling for Rangers financial advisor WH Ireland to accept Dave King's call for an EGM has received nearly 5,000 signatures in less than 24 hours.

The London branch of the Rangers Supporters Association launched the petition in the early hours of yesterday morning. They had hoped to gather 5,000 signatures in the next fortnight before presenting it by hand at the offices of the Ibrox club's Nomad.

But they have nearly hit their target in the very first day. An RFCSA London spokesman said: "We were keen to influence matters in whatever way that we could from down in London. "One way we can do that is by applying pressure to the Nomad WH Ireland as they are based down here. "We have previously met with Laxey Partners because their offices are in London. In fact, we have had more contact from them than we have from Rangers. "We wanted to do something to put their backs to the wall and felt that applying pressure to WH Ireland was a good idea.

"We took the initiative and set ourselves a moderate target of 5,000 in two weeks, but it looks like we are going to easily surpass that."

Major Rangers shareholder King has called for a general meeting and hopes to oust all four directors and install a completely new board. The club announced on Monday they are examining whether the notice is legal and revealed they would be urging shareholders to vote against it if it was. The spokesman continued: "The current regime is scrambling to hold onto whatever they can. We know they are cornered.

"The Charles Green interview this week was downright bizarre. He was put up to speak to Jim White and was like the laughing cavalier, full of bluster.

"But we know that in the background the vultures are all around the carcass picking off whatever they can."

Meanwhile, the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund today welcomed the chance to help stop Ibrox being used as security for a £10 million loan from Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley. Money from the fund, set up after the Gers went into administration back in 2012, will be used to launch a legal challenge if the club board give the go-ahead to the controversial move. A spokesman said: "Ibrox, in our view, is sacrosanct. It is a memorial to the sixty six who lost their lives. It should never be used as collateral in order to secure a loan that is not in the best interests of the club.

"For that reason, the RFFF confirms it is willing to provide support and assistance to any fan group determined to protect the club's assets.

"We enjoyed a positive meeting with representatives from the Rangers Supporters Trust yesterday and we have agreed to back their initiative to prevent the securitisation of Ibrox and Murray Park.

"Rangers fans donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to the Fighting Fund during the administration process when their club was at risk and it appears our major assets are at risk once again.

"Now more than ever, we need the Rangers fan base to unite with the collective goal of protecting our assets and taking the club forward. FCA rules prevent the direct investment of the RFFF funds in shares.

"Fan ownership initiatives introduced by the Trust and Rangers First can make a positive and immediate difference and the RFFF will do everything possible to provide support to such organisations.

"The fans, after all, are the lifeblood of this great institution and always will be."
